Killer Unknown (2018)
Binge watched the entire thing in one day.
I really really enjoyed this 6 part series. I thought it was well done, and I planned on watching one or two episodes because I'm in bed sick....I watched all 6 episodes and loved every bit of it. I thought it was well done and if you like crime/reality tv police shows (like The First 48 or Homicide Hunter) you'll like this.
Rake (2010)
Easily one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time.
I had never heard of this show but stumbled on the title on IMDB and read some of the reviews (which were overwhelmingly positive) so I decided I'd check it out. I've been binge watching this show and laughing out loud at every single episode. If you share my sense of humor, you will love this show. The main character is fantastic.
Gomorrah (2014)
One of the best shows I've seen in a long long time.
I wasn't sure about this show. I heard of it on accident while reading an online article about foreign series shows and it was mentioned as "A must watch" so obviously my first step was to go to IMDB and check what people were saying about it and what the rating was, and I was impressed enough that I started season 1. I ended up watching 4 episodes in one day and binge watched the rest of the season over an empty weekend. I'm now on season 2 and I all I can say is, this show is very addictive. If you don't mind reading subtitles, and love a good mafia story, I highly recommend Gomorra.
Bloodline (2015)
I never write reviews, BUT....
I feel compelled to right at least a brief review on "Bloodline".
When I started the very first episode, within 10 minutes, I felt like I was going to hate it, so I turned it off and forgot about it. A few weeks go by, and I keep hearing people mention the tv show "Bloodline" (and these are people I feel have a very good taste in television shows) so I look at the rating on IMDB here, and then I read the reviews, and I think to myself, "Wow, I have to give this show a chance." So I did, and I've been looking forward to every episode because I've found myself so invested in whats going on in the storyline. Of course the show is 3 years old now, but it works out for me because I can binge watch 3 seasons! In conclusion, give this show a chance, I don't think you'll regret it,
Blood Simple (1984)
Brilliant! Even in the year 2012, this movie is a MUST SEE.
So I had a bit of skepticism when I was going to watch this movie. I knew it was the Coen's early work and I was afraid that it might let me down. I was so wrong. Even for being made in 1984, this movie would be a smash hit to this day. I'm actually ashamed that I hadn't seen it earlier. I just watched the Director's Cut, which I imagine is quite a bit better than the regular version, so if I had to make a suggestion, it's that you try and see this movie with the Directors Cut. This movie has some great intense moments, it keeps you guessing just what is going to happen next, and it also makes you want to scream at the characters as if they could hear you. Simply put, you should definitely see this film.
The Watch (2012)
Not half as bad as people said it was. I laughed a lot!
I am a picky person, and I am a big fan of comedies, so when I read the reviews about this movie, I was really bummed to see that some big actors would sign up for what people were saying is such a crappy movie. I watched the whole thing, and laughed through the whole thing. Sure it was cheesy, but that's what comedies are. Sure there was some foul language, but come on, its Jonah Hill and Vince Vaughn. When I read the plot about them starting a neighborhood watch only to find out they have to stop an alien invasion, I started the movie with serious skepticism, but shortly into the movie, it caught my attention and I found myself laughing through over half the movie. If you are like me, and you like comedies, this one has enough laughs in it to make it more than watchable. I'd even watch it again. That's just my opinion, take it or leave it.
The Fall (2006)
It'd be a good movie if it weren't for these two things.
I had very high hopes for this movie, but upon seeing it, there were two things I couldn't get over.
The first was, unless you have subtitles which I don't, it can be pretty hard to tell what the little girl is stuttering and mumbling about. It's almost like you are just sitting there waiting for her to tremble her way through each sentence and hope you understand what she is trying to get at.
Secondly, The sinister looking bad guys (who look exactly like The Dark Knight from Monty Pythons Holy Grail) bark like a dog in almost every scene they are in. It almost gets to the point where its funny, because its almost the same barking dog noise every time.
Other than those two things, it wasn't bad. Probably worth renting if you are bored and like artsy cinematography.
