A Superb Documentary
11 November 2010
I'm gonna keep the review short because like many I believe that the less you know about the movie going in, the better. While the trailer is quite misleading it does not retract from the fact that this is a superb character piece. Even though it does show that social networking sites aren't safe and you shouldn't trust people online blah blah blah. I don't think that was the goal of the filmmakers, I think it was just to show the nature of human character. And to all those saying that it's fake, it's a pretty touching story even if it is (which I doubt because Nev would be the greatest actor in Hollywood if it is), just don't go into it expecting a thriller.

The worst film ever made
10 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Right off the bat, when I say 'worst film ever made' I'm excluding titles that are generally poorly reviewed. This movie on the other hand has garnered some above average reviews on this site and attained a user review score of around 7/10. How this has happened is completely beyond me, because I can without a doubt say that this was the worst movie that I have ever had the misfortune of viewing.

Acting: Adrien Brody is mediocre at best and his acting doesn't add or take away from the film. Everyone else on the other hand is awful. I now regard Forest Whitaker as one of the worst actors starring in big pictures today. Every scene he's in apart from maybe the first few it sounds like he has a speech impediment, and I know for a fact that he does not. His serious lines come off as laughable and every time he screams a line I have to bury my head in my hands, it's that awful.

Plot: This is what not only drove the movie off of a cliff for me, but lighted it on fire and defecated on it. The plot is ridiculously non-sensical and for the most part just made me f*****g angry. Instead of saying 'Hey, all you have to do is eat your meals and not hit us for two weeks and then we get 14,000 dollars' the characters feel the need to be hostile to one another for no particular reason whatsoever. Really, it makes absolutely no f*****g sense, they generate conflict out of purely nothing and the prisoners act like their wives are being raped in front of them when they're asked to do 10 f*****g push ups. For Christ's sake, it's just such utter bull s**t. At one point when violence is used and there is no intervention wouldn't the characters say 'Hmm, well nothing happened so I guess the experiment is off' and just f**k off and go back home?! And if you agree with all the things just one of the f*****g characters does in this movie then you are just stupid to an insane degree.

Completely un-relatable and unbelievable characters, the worst plot ever and terrible acting make for what is, in my opinion, the absolute worst movie of all time. Honestly, I want to find the director of this movie and just punch him in the f*****g mouth. I cannot understand how people are even given the opportunity to make such complete garbage. The first time a movie has actually made me mad at it. And to those people that say this movie is a venture into the violent nature of humans and explores what power can do to people, you have got to be kidding me. This isn't how people act in real life unless they're clinically insane. If you want to look at something that explores the violent nature of humans read the Lord of the Flies because the characters act like REAL HUMANS.

1/10 if I could give it a 0 I would.
