How I Met Your Mother (2005)
Characters are All Lovable Except ...
Well, I didn't start watching this series at all until the 2011. How ironic that Neil Patrick Harris should be playing a jaded, womanizing, stud. I love the Lily and Marshall coupling, and their funny relationship quirks. Fittingly, a real Canadian playing the role of a Canadian expat in New York.
Ironically, the only character I don't like is Ted Moseby. Almost every show, they tease the audience with "almost" revealing the identity of Moseby's wife. I can honestly say that I really don't care how he met their mother. We all know that they will never reveal the identity of the wife, even in the final episode. I can honestly say that I really don't care how he met their mother. Who are they trying to fool?! Sad to say, I no longer watch either re-runs or new episodes of this show mostly for that reason.
Jonah Hex (2010)
Perfectly Respectable 6 Out of 10
Don't know what everyone is complaining about. I rate this movie a respectable 6 out of 10. It's an action movie based on a relatively obscure comic.
It's got a hero who talks to the dead, evil Confederate General as a villain with a weapon of mass destruction. The villain's plan is plausible, and equally nefarious. The hero is equipped with two horse mounted Gatling Guns, and a pair of pistols fitted with mini-crossbows.
On top of that you got Megan Fox. I have no complaints about her acting here. On the same level as her Transformers performance. Heck she's no Meryl Streep, but nice eye candy.
Very watchable, in my opinion.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Truer to the Animated Series than First Movie
************************************ ******WARNING SLIGHT SPOILERS******* ************************************
In fact this movie is truer to the spirit of the original animated TV series than the first. For the true fans, can you remember any strong human characters in the original? It was never about the humans, but about the battle between Decepticons and Autobots.
Finally, they are now battling for Energon. Like the TV series, this is the reason the two factions battle endlessly, not this All-Spark business.
One complaint I have is that they've just introduced too many bots. I just can't follow who is whom, when every minute a new bot is introduced. One really has to watch it several times to be able to follow it properly.
This movies is big, of epic proportion, not just and action flick.
The Green Hornet (2011)
Horrible Movie.
What a bad movie!
The main problem is the bad acting by Seth Rogan and a horrible script. The natural audience is juveniles under 10 yrs old, but there's too much violence for their parents to bring them to the movie. Cameron Dias, was probably overpaid for an ageing talentless actress, which is probably where the $120M budget went. The money certainly wasn't spent on special effects, props, or good location filming.
The surprising thing is that Edward James Olmos was even involved with this movie. They probably had to pay him a pretty penny too.
Stay away from this movie, or you will regret it.
Awake (2007)
Needed on casting change.
This movie would have been better if there was one casting change. The main character Clay Beresford should have been played by someone older, and not Hayden Christensen. Hayden looks like he is barely out of high school, let alone be out of college, and a whiz kid on Wall Street. Hayden is a very bad actor, and has all the emotional range of a dead fish. In my opinion, Hayden was single-handedly responsible for ruining the two Star Wars movies that he was in. On the other hand Jessica Alba played her character perfectly, and I loved her in this movie. I did not see the plot twist until the movie was almost ended. She is hotter than ever!
One other flaw in this movie was the pace of character exposition. It was slow as molasses. Half of this movie could have been cut out and and it would had no effect on the story. Most of the problem is that I could not identify with the character played by Hayden. It was flat as a cardboard cut out. I wish he would take some acting lessons, if he's planning to assail us with further movie appearances.
