See How They Run (2022)
Agatha Christie Fans Will Get a Real Kick Out of it.
This movie was clearly made for and by Agatha Christie fans and more specifically, fans of the The Mousetrap. It is full of nudges and winks, that are extremely funny; if you are familiar with and enjoy the work, it is based on; aswell as the works that have parodied it. (such as The Real Inspector Hound). Since, I am all of thee above; I had a great time watching this film. However, I fear, it will fall flat, for those who are not.
I say this because, if you are not, I doubt very much, you will even understand this movie or what it's trying to do (although it, succeeds quite skillfully) and will find your mind wandering to other things. So, you should probably skip this meta comedy, altogether.
That being said, the acting is wonderful and spot on. Even the minor characters do a fantastic job, of capturing the mood and time period of this film. Saoirse Ronan and Sam Rockwell are especially wonderful, in the lead roles and have an almost magical, comedic chemistry, in their scenes together.
Hollywood (2020)
I think I have died and gone to Heaven!
You had me at DARREN CRISS! Add In the 1940's (my favorite time in history) and The Golden age of Hollywood and you've got me, hook, line and sinker!
I loved this mini series,so much and I'm waiting with bated breath, until season 2 is announced.
Headed by a phenomenal cast, great script, wonderful direction, fantastic costumes and sets, and blast from the past; Hollywood is going to be the biggest show of the year!
Lady and the Tramp (2019)
It's just not the same!
You might find this movie somewhat enjoyable, if you haven't seen the original; but in comparison, it is really lacking. Some of the best moments from the original, have been completely removed, while others have just been changed; unfortunately those changes are terrible.
For starters Jock is a girl, who wears stupid looking, human dresses and the wonderful siamese cat song, has substituted with a the boring, uninspired new song, called, "What a Shame". A title that is very apropos.
Do yourself a favor and just watch the original again. Because great movies are never outdated!
The Odds (2018)
This movie doesn't deserve a single star!
Dont waste you time on this film, I sure wish I hadn't! If you like the basic premise, of this movie; trust me and go watch "WOILD YOU RATHER" instead. This story is based on an interesting idea, but than does nothing with it. The pacing of this film is all wrong and the ending is just terrible! Far to much time is spent building up the tension, in this film, with 0 payoff.
I will admit, that I was quite impressed with acting in this film, for such a low budget indepent horror film; but that is the only thing, good about this film. in other words; I absolutely hated it!
Summer of 84 (2018)
BUCKLE YOUR SEAT BELTS!
If you are expecting just your typical nostalgic, boys coming of age tale, or a paint by numbers, suspense film, in the vein of Rear Window and Disturbia; you are in for a nice surprise. It starts out that way, and has a slow build. At times it even lags a bit, but be patient; that is only to lull you into a false sense of security. Once it really gets going, it is full of the kind of tension and Intrigue that will have you biting your fingernails and keep you on the edge of your seat. With an ending, you will not see coming and may just make you, want to have your eyesight checked.
I also found this film to be well shot, acted, and directed. Capturing the true essence of the 1980's, and what it was like to be a teenage boy, growing up, at that time. All in all, a well-rounded thriller/mystery that may just leave you breathless.
