Resident Evil (2022)
No way this makes two seasons
A few episodes in and I am not impressed. This has absolutely nothing to do with the resident evil I am familiar with. It seems like they picked some diversity, threw in some zombies and then just called it resident evil. What a waste... The effects and locations are great. Its just a shame the rest is so bad.
Inhumans (2017)
Don't be a Sheep. This is a good show.
This is a good show. I honestly wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.100 times better than agents of shield or anything DC is putting out these days.
Inhumans in the comics were always boring and usually stuck to the ff4 story lines. They've done something great with the TV show though and made a story centered around them. Great casting choices especially for Maximus and Black Bolt. Honestly don't get the lame negative reviews.
Fantastic Four (2015)
Not The Fantastic Four...
What the hell did I just watch? What a slap in the face to Stan Lee and all the comic fans around the world!
This movie has nothing to do with the actual fantastic four. Instead it's some awful movie about a group of super intelligent multicultural teenage orphans who travel to another dimension. Later these teen orphans battle against their friend after he becomes an emo who wants to blow up the earth. If that sounds vaguely interesting, its not. I fell asleep 5 times while watching it!
The people involved in making this movie f***** up. If you're going to butcher the source material and alienate the original fans, at least make it a good film.
Battlefield Earth was a better film than this.
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
A Star Wars for today
It was strange how much I ended up enjoying this movie. The first time I saw the trailer I was not terrible impressed and it seemed cliché and tacky (Especially the music).
As a longtime fan and collector of marvel comics I felt obliged to go see the movie on the opening night and so I did... The movie had everything you could want in a film; space opera, comedy, explosions and even Michael Rooker as blue space alien with a magical stick!
The casting was amazing, the writing was excellent and the CGI and special effects were the best I've ever seen. I have no doubt that this movie will be considered the next Star Wars (The original one, not the Jar Jar Binks version) in a decade or so from now.
At the end of the film everyone clapped (Except me because I'm cool) and even my girlfriend seemed to have enjoyed it (And she hates everything). I actually felt sad leaving the cinema because I enjoyed the film so much I didn't want it to end. If it isn't a better movie than than the Avengers, it is definitely on par with it.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, go watch it now. 10/10.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
KOBA the PTSD Monkey
Some people have given this 1 out 10 which is downright ridiculous (Even Gigli from 2003 got 2/10). I myself thoroughly enjoyed this movie and cannot wait for the next installment to come out.
The action scenes were amazing (I couldn't tell the CGI from the RL), the acting was top notch and the story made sense without any plot holes. Cesar is the star of the movie (Think Spanish Monkey version of Optimus Prime) and Koba the PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) monkey is his co-star. The humans are plot devices that need to be there, and they in no way steal the show. It's a film about a bunch of smart apes just trying to live their lives, and it's great.
If you are a normal person who likes normal good movies, you will enjoy it (Unless you have Pithecophobia - Fear of monkeys). It's strides better than the first movie and it should be one of the top 5 movies you see this year. If you've already seen Guardians of the Galaxy, GOOoooo and watch Apes. 10/10.
Sex Tape (2014)
Longest Apple Commercial I've ever seen!
I had to drag my girlfriend to see this after the bad reviews. I figured, hey I like Jason Segal, Cameron Diaz and Rob Lowe, it can't be all bad and there will be plenty of laughs.
True enough, some parts of this movie are very funny (especially the Rob Lowe bits). However there were TWO things in this movie that completely ruined it for me.
Firstly there is a part near the end (Unrelated to the plot) where Jason Segal is singing, it is the most awkward scene in cinema history. I don't know wtf the editors were thinking because they need to remove that ****.
Secondly, every 5 minutes there is a big stupid Apple logo shoved onto the screen. I get it, it's basically a movie about the iPad, because all they do is show pictures of it and talk about it. I'm now fairly certain Apple funded this movie (Explains why it sounds appealing but doesn't actually deliver).
Perhaps skip this one.
White House Down (2013)
Jamie Foxx ruins everything.
This movie reminds me of a lot of the 90s action movies, like the Rock. I enjoyed the action and I regrettably admit I really liked Channing Tatum in it. However, there was one thing that really bothered me. That was Jamie Foxx.
I don't know how to describe it, but every time he appeared it really reminded me I was watching a movie. He seemed to be trying to so hard to act and he was not believable. It seemed like he didn't know what movie he was in and it's probably just me, but it seemed like he was on drugs or something...
A colleague told me Olympus has fallen is a much better movie, so Im looking forward to seeing that. It seems to be that Hollywood is getting lazier with their casting choices these days. I can't wait to see Jamie Foxx ruin the next spider-man and Ben Affleck ruin the batman vs superman movie.
Avengers Assemble (2012)
Another fail Marvel animation.
I have been a marvel fan for as long as I can remember. I maintain a large comic collection and try to watch every show and play every game marvel related. Unfortunately Marvel puts it name to a lot of garbage, and this show is a perfect example of that garbage.
I can't exactly tell who the creators were marketing this show towards, but it certainly isn't me, and I wouldn't let my kids watch it either. The story lines are lazy, they don't stick to any of the comic subject matter and the humor was so lame I actually felt embarrassed to watch it.
Words cannot express the nauseous feelings that the Hulk/Hawkeye attempt at a comedy duo made me feel inside. This show is just... awful. I tried to watch a few episodes, but honestly... I couldn't do it. For some stupid reason Red Skull steals an Iron man suit but doesn't want the helmet? ...Axecop has better storytelling!
My advice to anyone reading this is to watch Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes which is a much better show that they abandoned for this crap.
World War Z (2013)
Are you serious? At least an 8 out of 10...
I honestly was not expecting much from this movie. Being a fan of the original World War Z book I was pretty appalled when I heard Brad Pitt was cast in the screenplay adaption. After hearing they were trying to lower the rating of the movie I was equally disappointed and originally planned on boycotting the movie altogether.
So anyway, I was hanging out with a mate today and he convinced me to watch it despite my protests. In the end I decided it was better than seeing that garbage looking Gatsby movie.
So I sat down and the film started. IT WAS AWESOME! There were explosions, military guys flying around in helicopters firing M240s and hordes and hordes of insane rabid zombies... Nothing was bad about this movie! It could have used a bit more gore, but that's it! Otherwise it was a perfect example of what a film should be. It was scary, fun, violent and didn't try too hard.
So I saw, go watch World War Z and enjoy it. I rate it up there with other movies I enjoy, such as Predator, Terminator 2, Avengers and Dawn of the Dead. If you don't enjoy the film that's fine. You are a tool (the kind of douche that watches films like with flowers on the cover and drinks overpriced wine). If you watch it and enjoy it, congratulations, you are the kind of person I would have a beer with and you have excellent taste in movies!
The Walking Dead (2010)
More like 11 out of 10
I was worried when I heard they were making a TV adaption of the walking dead... My first thought was, 'How will they ruin it?'
But I watched it anyway...
I could not believe how good the pilot episode was. It was like, the way all TV shows should be. Everything was perfect, the acting, the story, the visuals the sound effects... everything!
I'm sure the 'sophisticated' people will sooner of later start posting bad reviews to be different... but honestly I thought the show was perfect. ***Take note Hollywood, this is how movies and television should be done!***
If only every other comic adaption could be done this well!
The people who voted this show 1 out of 10 didn't even watch it.
Halo Legends (2010)
Not even close...
I watched this some time ago, and I am still in shock. Let me start by saying I love Halo. I have all the games, enjoy the books and comics... However Halo Legends was utter garbage and I regret watching it.
There are 8 separate animated segments, done in different animation styles. It is similar to the Animatrix and Batman; Gotham Knight, except those ones are good.
I will comment on some of the segments and what I thought of them.
Firstly, the worst segment in my opinion was 'the duel'. The animation was horrible, I think it was trying to be stylized, but all I could think was 'lazy' and it was so blurry I couldn't tell what was going on most of the time. The story was some junk about an Arbiter who lives in Fuedal Japan and is married to a cat. He upsets the covenant and has to fight a bunch of blurry samurai after they kill his cat wife. Probably worth skipping this one.
The second worst segment was named 'Homecoming'. I think they were trying to market this to an audience of 13 year old girls. It's about a girl Spartan who cries a lot and carries a little teddy bear keyring or something. I felt sick when I watched this one.
The segment 'Odd one out' was bad from the start. This one I think was meant to be funny, but they forgot to put the jokes in it. I didn't even crack a smile.
I think the segment 'Prototype' was added to Halo Legends by accident. They had an un-aired episode of Gundam lying around and it somehow found it's way into the collection. Watch it if you like Gundam.
The segment 'Babysitter' had some potential... Unfortunately they ruined it because all the ODST guys had girl hair (Apparently the military doesn't have grooming standards in the future), and the Spartan is a girl (AGAIN). *SiGh*
The package was probably the only segment I really enjoyed. The CG was like the games and it had lots of action (And no girls crying).
Origins was okay, but really nothing more than a rehash of the game story. I thought of it as an instructional manual being narrated.
In conclusion I thought Halo Legends was awful. I believe anime was a poor choice and there seemed to be too much influence from the Japanese production houses. (Apparently the Japanese thing all Spartans should be schoolgirls or something).
If they do another Halo animation I hope DC or Marvel can get involved and do it decent.
