I had to watch this once they tried to censor it.
I rarely watch terrestial TV anymore so had no knowledge of this series until the latest set of unsubstantiated allegations against a celebrity started apppearing in the news last week. For ITV to pull the final episode on that basis is ridiculous. Haven't they heard of the basic principle of British law that people are innocent until proven guilty? They were willing to ruin the series for all the public that had been following it, not to mention, I would guess, the remuneration of all the other cast and crew involved just for their petty woke agenda.
As for the series, it is an above average detective thriller, full of twist and turns in the plot. I've always found Noel Clarke to be great in everything I've ever seen him in. I have Kidulthood, Adulthood and Brotherhood in my personal movie collection and this is up to that same standard.
Two Weeks to Live (2020)
Could have been much better
The basic story was OK but ruined by poor script writing. I felt like I was watching a luvvie drama school production full of really irritating and fake middle class accents. The two brothers in particular just sounded silly.
Maisie Williams still has a bit of Arya about her playing a tomboy assassin with a list but it's all a bit tongue in cheek. It's supposedly a comedy but there weren't that many laughs to be had. I watched all the episodes so it wasn't terrible but all the same, it was no better than mediocre.
Escape at Dannemora (2018)
Overlong and disjointed
The acting was fine but the whole story could have been told in a two hour movie and would have been much better for it.
The content of episode six would have been better placed as the opening twenty minutes of such a movie, episodes 2, 3, 4, and most of 5 could have been condensed into the remainder of the first hour.
That leaves episode 7 as the meat on the bone of the whole project and I can't fault that. It was gripping stuff. Just such a shame it took so long to get there.
