Poignant

Do not miss the Last few seconds of French writer/director Jeanne Herry's poignant movie, "In Safe Hands", (Pupille). About an infant's journey through the French adoption system. I was so affected by this movie. Baby Théo and all the baby Theos passed through adoption systems, sometimes for months before they are placed with their adoptive parent(s), will forever be impressed upon my heart and mind. This very well directed amazing cast and story that focuses on baby but also touches on the lives of the many people involved in Theo's first three months of life brought laughs, tears and pondering for which I am glad to have experienced. Again, do not miss the last split second!

Wonderful Story, Wonderful Movie
29 December 2023
A great clean movie with well casted characters you love! And the movie has no agenda being pushed! Just gives the true story it is! How refreshing! The Boys in the Boat is a perfect holiday feel-good movie to attend Christmas day which we did! The entire theater which was filled to near full capacity broke into grand applause at the end! I don't think young people today even know what a shanty town in the depression era was. They don't know that loans were not just given out for school and housing. You had to work to pay for school if you didn't come from money. This movie tells it like it was. Many in this generation won't even get it! We will be going to see Boys in the Boat in the theater again as it was so good! Especially after a year of let-down movies.

Please make more movies like this one!

Thank you Clooney and all involved in bringing this story to the screen -great job!

Deep!
18 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Reading the reviews, I think most didn't get this movie. Melissa Barrera was amazing! I felt her pain derived from her dysfunctional upbringing and the pain she endured during her quest for survival in the wilderness after the crash. I was riveted and yes at times exasperated (as she was!) watching Liv in her flash backs behaving irrationally in her life due to the pains she had endured as a child. Watching her get through the survival situation was just amazing. Melissa took me there... I was with her and felt every pain. The Ending left me with a gasp of my own! Great work Melissa!

I do hope you received some acclaim from your peers!

Beautiful Surprise
29 September 2022
I really did not expect to like this movie as it is set in a marsh/swamp?! Marshes and even swamps can be beautiful but I was afraid a gator would come by any moment! And what about all the obligatory swamp flies and mosquitoes you say? Who cares?! Let's say it was autumn and winter when gators sleep and bugs are gone. This movie was a nice surprise! I loved the great story with wonderful characters, set in beautiful nature scenery that was pleasing to the eye. The musical score is lovely as is the main character; you will love her. I wanted the best for her, I wanted to see her succeed, to overcome the odds. To be happy.

Wow! A movie for thoughtful grown-ups ; how refreshing!
19 December 2021
I grew up on I Love Lucy reruns... watching this couple who loved each other and their neighbors the Mertzs through all their ups, downs, disagreements, successes and failures as they lived their day to day life that always ended "happy." We did "Love Lucy" with all her quirks, idiosyncrasies and hilariously animated antics....all the way to the "happy end." This movie is not about any of that. This is about real life and not so happy endings. An incredibly transformed Nicole Kidman does an excellent job playing the extremely professional perfectionist career woman Lucy. Javier Bardem is absolute perfection playing the gorgeous latin musician, actor, innovator and shrewd businessman who made "Desilu" the financial success it was; if not for Desi there would not have been film of the Lucy episodes! No reruns! The movie delves into Lucy's pre-television film career, the communist scandals that threatened the future of the show, the fight won to have Lucy's pregnancy and birth of her second child incorporated into the show as well as the problems that plagued Lucy and Desi's marriage. Their children are the producers. The movie is a "dialogue" movie that will not appeal to those that look for the non-stop noisy action of todays ridiculous fantasy films. This movie is for those who enjoy learning about real people, their lives and history. This movie is for those who really "Love Lucy"..... and Ricky too!

Chastising is phenomenal! You will love Tammy!
18 December 2021
Jessica Chastain is phenomenal in this role portraying the colorful, loving, naive, optimistic Tammy Faye, even performing the songs! I cried when she cried. The story reveals the Tammy many never knew. I am so very glad I saw this movie about this loving person portrayed by an incredible actress.

Innocent Lives Torn to Bits by FBI and Media
10 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Too bad this portrayal of the corrupt methods used by the FBI and blood thirsty media in the Jewell case is not only accurate but also common; we see it everyday in the headlines. This Excellent screen play, acting and directing draws full and emotional attention from viewers. I highly recommend this eye opening movie!

Amazing Story, Amazing Man!
2 March 2021
Every American should see this movie! How tragic that amazon banned the movie from their streaming service and during black history month no less! A true American success story! Justice Clarence Thomas is an amazing human being that should be respected by all and looked up to by youth, especially african american youth, yet amazon is doing their best to try to keep this amazing story from those who should see it and realize what OVERCOMING means. stop buying from amazon!

WONDERFUL!
26 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Such a great movie with fantastic actors Viggo Mortensen and Marhershala Ali who brought so much to this true story about two men from totally opposite sides of the cultural spectrum take a two month road trip together to the south where they both were out of their perspective culture zones. Although they didn't "walk in each other's shoes," they walked close enough and through enough for each to change their perspectives of the other and to learn something from one another; ultimately becoming life long friends. Although there were exaggerations in personality portrayal of both main characters as well as others, they were good for a laugh and emphasized, within the length of a movie, the transitions made in two months. We both loved this movie! It is a crowd pleaser, winning many people's choice awards at film festivals. It wins ours!

Cinderella (I) (2015)

Beauty Inside and Out
12 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
An incredibly beautiful interpretation of the most beloved of fairy tales! Casting is superior. Cate Blanchett holds nothing back depicting a beautiful villain. Lily James is the fairest, kindest Cinderella as is Richard Madden the handsomest, kindest of princes. Their chemistry is intoxicating for us all as our hearts leap along with theirs at the sight of one another. The movie is a visual feast in every moment with the most magnificent scenery and special effects! The making of the princess and her carriage by a wonderfully played fairy godmother is cleverly done with a nice nuance shed in the possibility of reaping a reward for doing an act of kindness for a stranger. We found the movie whimsically entertaining in the most joyous of ways with a smile on our faces much of the time unless peril for Cinderella seemed imminent. My husband even blurted out, "hurry for Pete's sake, get down there before it's too late," during a suspenseful moment when it seemed certain that Cinderella would miss her chance to try on the glass slipper! Hilarious reaction in light of the fact we know the story! But then, all anew, is the experience reaped from this glorious rendition of Cinderella!
