The Gilded Age: In Terms of Winning and Losing (2023)
The best final episode of any period drama series I have ever seen!
From the first ten seconds to the final five, I was on the edge of my seat. If I could have jumped into the screen I would have. THE COSTUMES THE COSTUMES THE COSTUMES!!!!!!!! The witty entendres, repartee and meaningful exchanges are gold dust. The music lifts you and soothes you at just the right moments. The colours, the sets, the character developments and the way the entire episode builds to a crescendo is, I am sure, evocative of the opera storyline on which the episode is based. Brava indeed to the entire cast and crew. I am breathless awaiting Season 3. In the meantime I return to Season 1 Episode 1 to drink in the entire show yet again!!
The Gilded Age: You Don't Even Like Opera (2023)
Bravo Julian Fellowes!!!
A magical return for the wonderful Gilded Age and an exquisite episode as a reward for our patience! Every scene sparkled with decadence and luxury and the characters themselves seemed to leap from the screen with enthusiasm. This season has begun with a deeper dive into some of the characters - you could even be forgiven for feeling sorry for Oscar, surprising as it sounds. The episode progresses the comparisons between the various households including an intimate and heartbreaking storyline for Peggy Scott and her family. In addition to developed narratives, the wardrobe designers must be applauded for the incredible costumes which bring the Gilded Age to life!
I Am Georgina (2022)
Look past the wealth to see a warm, loving, funny & generous woman!
Yes, the wealth is breath-taking, but Soy Georgina / I am Georgina is an honest, open and generous look past the trappings of wealth and into who she is as a mother, friend and business woman. Followed by a camera crew, Georgina allows access to family life, business enterprises and - the nicest surprise - to the time spent with her oldest, best friends "The Darlings". She works for her own money - admittedly enabled by her relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo - but she works hard and is clearly a warm and loving mother to a growing family and a generous friend. This documentary is a glamorous escape from life and should just be taken as such!
Masterminds (2015)
Light-hearted (very) but amusing!
If you just accept it for what it is, a silly story, you will be genuinely laughing by the end of it! The fact that it is a true story also adds an element of hilarity to it. Leave your expectations not high-brow cinema at the door and just enjoy!
Brassic (2019)
Hilarious, edgy, fast-paced!
Super cast, everyone bringing their A-Game & great writing - smart, layered and so funny. Not much has me literally laughing out loud but from mid-way through episode 1, I was hooked!
