Steve Jobs (2015)
A Cautionary Tale
This is a cautionary tale of sorts given we all know the basic turn of events. The focus and highlight rest on Steve Jobs' humanity or lack thereof. This is not about his visionary genius but his simultaneous flaws as a fellow human being. Seriously, how dare we idolize such a a despicable person? Are the revolutionary gadgets worth the price? Depends who you are in the mix but for the majority of us it just so happened the person and product were a packaged deal and his inherent flaws were foreign to us. How much of our humanity are we willing to sacrifice for the sake of technological progress? Apparently if it's worth it we are willing to sacrifice or rather forgive a whole lot.
By the Sea (2015)
Love through the Darkest of Times
"By the Sea" is an empathic journey into the lives of Vanessa (Angelina Jolie Pitt) and Roland (Brad Pitt), a writer and his wife, in a pitiful state of relationship. Any long term relationship will have experienced at least one near death season and "By the Sea" exemplifies such a moment in purest of forms. The details will vary from couple to couple but the depth of drudgery, pain, and misery are universal. Her beauty and poise soften the bleakness of her blank gaze, barely audible slurred speech, and less than desirable personality traits. His alcohol enabled caring demeanor and belief in his wife give the couple a glimmer of hope. Slow self destruction in the grandest of settings, overlooking the sea, only begins to tell the tale. The artistic genius is evident in every perfectly contrived shot in a way luring, guiding, and giving the audience an avenue to visit the place of despair which would otherwise be buried in drink, pills and smoke literally and figuratively. The choice in dialogue volume and soundtrack consummate the stark journey. The story unfolds slowing laying out how this couple came to be in such a state using a narrative path of a literal peephole into newlyweds next door. Here you get to the core of the problem and ultimately its conclusion. The realism of every step and turn perfectly captured the essence of going through such depths in a relationship. Kudos to Angelina and Brad!!!
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Incessant Mind-blowing Action Euphoria!
Best %*cking visual orgasm ever! Right when you thought you were about to catch your breath it's insanity all over again, ecstasy at its most decadent. I can't even! The most insane action %*ck ever!!! Somewhat like inception was the best mind blowing screw that left you gasping for a hint of reality level beyond level. Like seriously!!! Beauty and grit, raw indulgent torture of unrivaled kind
incessant, delicious beyond the tastiest of words. Juxtaposition at its finest. Infernal barren land on the brink of birth or at the very least the tenacity of a voracious appetite to survive, to live. Merciless rapture that leaves you writhing for more, scene after scene, yet simultaneously begs for an end to the sadistic euphoria.
