Veronica Mars (2004)
If they put on a show and nobody watches, is it really on?
It's a complete mystery why this show hasn't been canceled yet.
It's really badly written (if you want proof, look at the main page where there is a description of the lead character: all attitude and no content, just like the show) and has failed to grab an audience in spite of repeated promotional efforts.
Last week it got a whooping 0.7 rating in the "all important" young adults demographic and fewer than 2 million viewers in the much more important (but less prone to PR spin) overall audience. If they put on a show and nobody watches, is it really on? Who knows what possessed UPN to burn good money after bad, but now that they are merging with WB they have a golden opportunity to get rid of this dead weight in their programming lineup.
Killing Me Softly (2002)
Brilliant Direction
A masterpiece of the cinematic language.
This director knows when to cut, when not to cut, when to pan, when to glide and when to stay still. A wonderful display of cinematic brilliance coupled with wonderful performances by Heather Graham and the rest of the cast.
And this from a Hong Kong Director! Amazing. He is all substance and no useless flash.
Gabriela (2001)
Sweet and involving Love Story
A very sweet and involving love story, "Gabriela" keeps you glued to the screen with characters that come to life.
The excellent acting, allowed by the great screenplay, makes it an altogether enjoyable evening.
Stealing Home (1988)
A Classic Drama
Wonderful performances by an all-star cast led by Mark Harmon and Jodie Foster make "Stealing Home" a classic drama. John Shea is also remarkable and shows what he can do with a good part. Making the film even more enjoyable is the great score by David Foster which captures perfectly the mood of the film and for once, songs actually blend in and help set the mood and time of the piece.
A must-see.
