Nurse (2013)

Not the best Grindhouse movie, but not as bad as you think.
20 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
When word about this film came out, I was pretty excited. The movie poster was extremely provocative, and created an interest in the movie for me. The fact that Paz De la Huerta (From HBO's Boardwalk Empire), plays the lead character was a plus.

And then, you watch it, and it's a hit and miss kind of feeling from start to finish.

On the one end, Paz De la Huerta does have talent, but you wouldn't be able to tell from her acting in this movie, which is one note in every scene. She looks about the same in almost every scene, like she has anger issues and she is just waiting for that one person to set her off - and even then, its not impressive.

The plot and story line are pretty good, and the other actors show more range of emotion than Paz does throughout the entire film. The narration that Paz's character, Abby Russell provides to us, feels like she went on a bender, and then takes a moment from said bender to talk about her murderous escapades. I kept thinking that she was slightly drunk at times.

The Cinematography is good, and the special effects are OK. I could've done without the CGI in the movie (There's a few in certain scenes).

Story wise, I really do like this film, but it needed way more polish. It's OK to watch every now and then, and it would've been a more memorable movie overall, if the acting for the main character had more emotion.

It's really not that bad. Lackluster at best. I recommending watching it at least once, and then go from there.

After Lately (2011–2013)

A show you should be watching on E!
18 August 2013
After Lately is a Mockumentary - a "behind the scenes" of the popular show "Chelsea Lately" on the E! Network.

The good: It's not a Kardashian show, a major plus, and it is true original programming - there is no plot to it, and it never stops making you laugh.

Another good thing the show has going for it: it's actually funny. It's not trying so hard to make you laugh at it - it's like second nature to the cast of this program, and they do it perfectly.

The show has been on for 3 seasons, and I am waiting for a fourth season to show up.

The bad: Too many people pass this show up. While it has no plot, that doesn't even remotely hurt it at all. It's a show that is what it is, and does well at being just that.

If you haven't seen this show, please give it a viewing. The first and second seasons are on iTunes, and it will be money well spent.

To call it a "Movie" is an insult to actual movies, good AND bad.
15 August 2013
This Movie has absolutely ONE THING going for it: Priya Rai.

The acting in this movie is terrible: no skill or craft at all. Troma Films have better actors than this drivel. The ONLY exception is Priya Rai.

For those of you who might recognize that name, she used to be a adult film star, and recently retired from porn to do more non-adult films - SHE made more of an effort than anyone in the film to act and didn't look too cheesy doing so in the process.

Since this is her first non-adult film, I'll go easy on her, and it's the only reason I give this movie a 1-star - that star is for her. Even great actors started from the bottom.

Beyond that: there is nothing else going for this film. There is no need to give you any spoiler warnings, because the bad acting, bad "Sound effects", poor lighting, and abysmal "Special Effects" completely make you lose interest in the entire film.

Watch the film to see Priya Rai in a very tight "outfit" for a "mummy", and as soon as you do, return the movie back to the video store, and ask for your money back.

It's not worth the time
31 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen the first two Bloodrayne movies, which were both disappointing, and this one was just as awful.

This chapter in the BloodRayne series takes place during World War 2, which was the same timeline the BloodRayne video game Series started, so it does have that going for it. Sadly, the movies suffers from the classic case of what I like to call "The Uwe Boll Flush" - Making a poor movie version of a great video game.

The acting in this film is sub-par, the worst of it coming from the heroine Rayne, played by Natassia Malthe. Although she is quite stunning, she can't quite seem to pull off playing the popular vampire very well.

****WARNING: Two Spoilers Below**** Another issue I have is for the Sex Scenes: Yes, watching two women have sex is quite a site to behold, and normally I'd be singing praise for it, but in this movie, it seemed unnecessary, and the movie would've been SLIGHTLY better without it.

The ending was also sub-par and rushed. Rayne and one of her companions we're captured and we're being escorted to Hitler. Along the way, there was a sex scene between the two captives (again unnecessary), and afterwards, they we're rescued very easily - TOO EASILY. The rest of the movie just ends awkwardly after that.

The major issue with the movie is that Uwe Boll has yet to read up on Vampire Folklore - Rayne is Half-Vampire (a Dhampir). Most of the scenes happen during the Daytime. A Dhampir is STILL Vulnerable to Daylight, yet Rayne receives no damage at all from the sun in any part of this movie.

****End of Spoilers**** This movie has more problems than the last two, and it just doesn't take itself seriously enough to be enjoyable. Uwe Boll took something unpolished, added some unnecessary sex scenes, gave it a title and told us to like it.

If you enjoy watching these kind of movies and don't care how weak the plot is, then this movie is for you.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys watching real movies, you can skip this one.

Not worth your time
13 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Being an Avid Fan of Horror movies, I had high hopes of this film - Sadly, those hopes were dashed. Quickly. I was expecting this horror/thriller film that was worthy of being a big part of my library, and now I know it will never be. I'm expecting a Horror Film that actually scares you. Instead, I got bad acting and a weak storyline. This is NOT what makes a great horror movie. Granted, Most horror movies do have cheesy dialog at times, but the good ones don't have the cheesy dialog all the way through. Another issue I have is with the horror scenes - There is nothing wrong with a little gore in some death scenes, let alone a special effect or two. *POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT* And I'm pretty sure there is a TON of voice-over work in the latter part of the film, more then usual. If there is only one thing to take from this movie, it's the fact that this movie serves as a baseline as to what you don't do when you are making a horror film. This movie is NOT worth the time.

It's not THAT Bad
27 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
When I first heard of the movie "Nude Nuns with Big Guns", I thought for a second is was a Adult Movie. But after I watched it, I realized that it's not a bad movie at all. The movie has a similar look and feel to the "Grindhouse" Films, and like the Grindhouse films, it's not meant to be taken seriously. Granted, the storyline is a little weak, but its enough to hold your interest from start to finish. Spoiler: What I think puts most people off of this film is that is does have nude nuns, and it does make a lot of tongue-in-cheek fun of the Christian church, but that really doesn't hurt the movie too much. All in all, this movie is worth a viewing, and if you are offended easily by these kind of movies, then don't watch this one.
