Invasion (2021– )
5/10
Stunning

If you manage to make an alien invasion that slow and boring, you should change careers. Colony looks like a masterpiece in hindsight. This show's speed is glacial, to day the least. And filled with cliches over and over again. I've watched the first seven episodes and am giving up hope we'll ever learn anything.

Chaos Walking (2021)

Would have been ok as a pilot for a series.

But, unfortunately, they made a movie out of it that will leave you with more questions than answers. Perhaps the first time in over a year I was happy to not have been in a cinema.

Not a terrible movie, but we already had After Earth wasting our time.

A Masterpiece for the Patient Viewer

Wasn't really impressed after having watched the first two episodes, but then, the show started to take off. It's absolutely incredible to watch fall the pieces (slowly) in place. I've just finished S1E5 and went from a 7 to a 9. Couldn't have hoped for a better continuation of Watchmen than what's unfolding here. Big thumbs up!

Most obvious product placement ever?

Really enjoy watching the show so far, but the 45-second Toyota Tundra commercial in the beginning of this episode was painful to watch. Hope the show isn't struggling financially...

Not as bad as expected...

Warning: Spoilers
...once I got over the fact that London's attacking the rest of the world (nothing wrong with moving cities, but St Paul's not great as a weapon), much better than I expected, but the story's definitely way too predictable.

Titans (I) (2018–2023)
6/10
Really enjoyed watching, until...

Warning: Spoilers
I was ready to give this a 8/10. It's dark (almost like Watchmen), it's myterious, the characters are well developed and have flaws, it even made me like Robin. In short, Titans briefly seemed to be (much to my surprise) the third best execution of DC Universe characters (after Nolan's Batman trilogy and Wonder Woman), until they went to see a robot, a mummy, Frankenstein's wife, a weretiger and a mysterious scientist in S1E4. Seriously?

Wow. Loving the Show!!!
13 January 2019
Beautifully written, definitely one of the best shows around. Amazing with how little the show's creators made so much, everything's spot-on here in Schiit's Creek. Season 4 is even getting quite a bit emotional... love it.

Marcella (2016–2021)

How to Destroy a Character (and Crime TV Series)
6 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Just finished S2 and am somewhat baffled by how the writers decided to develop the character of Marcella: She evolved from a relatable, complex/mysterious/unpredictable 'hero in a crisis' (S1) into a suicidal, (literally) crazy cop with a dark secret that doesn't seem to have ever had an hour of police training in her life (or learnt how to use common sense). Putting her and her family again right in the middle of a mysterious serial killer plot was unnecessary and felt like "let's try to break several taboos just for the sake of it". It was painful to watch, and, at the end, I was left with something that rarely happens: a total disconnection from the serie's protagonist (turned antagonist). In short: Marcella went from an interesting/different crime drama (S1) to "Let's try to do a mix of 'Silence of the Lambs' with a hint of 'Girl on a Train' (S2) and then aim directly for 'Nikita' (S3)". Too much in my opinion, and does every single character really need a dark secret to be interesting? They way it currently looks like: only her eldest daughter has a clean slate... wonder what they have planned for her in S3...? Wait, maybe she's going to be kidnapped à la 'Taken' and then rescued by her Mom turned undercover killing machine.

Just finished Season 3
30 June 2018
The show keeps getting bigger and better with every episode (and it already started out as one of the most promising sci-fi shows), right now I am blown away by the complexity of the story and cannot wait for season 4. Wow.

Taken (2017–2018)

I really tried to like this show
15 March 2018
It's probably the most unprofessional and least credible undercover team ever (if you can even call it a team), the acting is one-dimensional the main character isn't relatable and there isn't much creativity in the story. Really hoped Adam Goldberg (SE2) would have an impact, but his role is just not big enough. I would have preferred if the show was closer to the movies, this is just another secret service crime drama that struggles to be consistent.

SEAL Team (2017–2024)

Worthy Successor of "The Unit", feels Authentic
14 March 2018
I have never understood why "The Unit" was cancelled and therefore couldn't be more pleased with how "SEAL Team" manages to be much more than a bunch of guys trying to single-handedly safe the world with guns. Occasionally, a mission gets cancelled, the good guys don't always win and a hero doesn't need to look like a action movie star which I find as bold as refreshing story-wise, compared to its action-packaged (and in my opinion much more unrealistic) counterpart "The Brave". Yes, there are some stereotypes (the new guy, the female officer, the jarhead etc. but everyone is playing their part convincing). By far the best Military show currently on air, great cast and proof that you don't necessarely need a story arc all the time to be relevant.

So much potential...
14 March 2018
...if you can look past what easily has to be the worst superhero costum design(s) since the original Power Rangers, Black Lightning is, or would be actually quite enjoyable. But it's almost unbearable to watch an actor like Cress Williams fight and move around in a paintball dress with LED lights.

Shut Eye (2016–2017)

Wow. A truly unique show.
14 March 2018
"Longmire" took us to crime in the Indian reservation, "Justified" introduced us to the Dixie Mafia, "Shut Eye" let's us dive deep into the mysterious world of the Gypsy Mafia - what feels a bit like a grown-up version of the Mentalist is probably one of the most unique and underrated shows right now and will hopefully get all the attention it deserves. The whole storyworld and its cast (and not just Donovan) is mesmerizing, and it's fascinating to see how they all manage to let you feel slightly disgusted and attracted at the same time. The art direction alone deserves an award. Captivating, original, beautyfully produced and a story that is as unpredictable as a palm reading session with an unsuspecting mark. Wow. I think I need a crystal ball until season three airs...

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Oh the irony...
25 September 2017
I was so excited to see the latest Star Trek franchise and so surprised, that "The Orville" (which first felt like a parody) turned out to be so much closer to what made Star Trek special, than the first two episodes of Star Trek Discovery indicate. It's not bad as a Sci-Fi show, but there are enough good Sci-Fi shows available - this was supposed to be Star Trek...
