Fantasy movies are the best. They stretch our minds and our imaginations. They remind us of possibilities. It's best to watch Field Of Dreams, take note of James Earl Jones' character, Terence Mann's closing quote, then watch this beauty, "People will come Ray. The one constant thru all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.".

I seldom look for credibility in these types of movies. I want hope. If you don't walk away from The Natural with hope, then you just don't get it.

I don't know if this was the writer's intention, but this was genius for the psychiatric community. I wish in reality, mental health, behavioural treatment were truly more wholistic. You see as the story progresses, those who have had a hand in Lars' loneliness, leading to his delusion disorder, themselves see their part, their selfish acts, make amends and are also healed. Granted, getting a whole community involved could be unrealistic, but the locale is a small town, where this type of delusion disorder is more likely to occur and be treated the way it was. It isn't obvious at first, but the stretches of time away from Lars are the Dr's hand in helping Lars work thru his disorder, as are the time they spend together resting while Bianca is resting after her treatments. You see progress and the inevetible. After Bianca has served her purpose, she must leave. You will have to see the movie to see how poignantly the writers handle that. It may not be realistic, I wish Insurance allowed me to treat patients in this manor. On hopeless days, I watch this. I watched it a lot during the pandemic lockdown. It's my go to when a client takes his or her own life.

So what happened to Nichols, Stevens & their Capt? Where'd they go?

I dont know how many reviewers were alive when McQueen filmed this grueling, final role about true life bounty hunter, Papa Thorson, who was as old school as they came, which was the secret to his bounty hunting success, yet for life of him had never mastered driving manual transmissions. That said, I dont know how many reviewers were alive during Thorson's heyday or who'd ever heard of him. It's hard to bring a real life story to the big screen & make it phenomenal when real life is seldom that. Add to that the difficulties in McQueen's metastases, & disease progression, tumor growth outside his body that had to be bound to be hidden which was excruciatingly painful, but the King was always known to push thru things. Being in law enforcement when this was shot & so many of his films being about law enforcement, I felt this was an appropriate send off for him. I think I like so many didnt think he could be taken, but I was wrong. I think even he thought he was indestructible. He remains immortal on celluloid. I always enjoy revisiting this film, & the glimpse back into the old tyme law enforcement that was when I first started.
