For the most part, very entertaining
27 March 2023
I was lucky enough to catch a sneak preview of the Movie. I have played Dungeons and Dragons since the basic game came out in the late 70ies. So far, every adaptation I have seen trying to turn the D&D world into a movie has fallen flat on its face mostly because it was trying to appeal to way too many audiences and include way to much modern BS.

This movie was decent, It has a very adventurous feel and definitely played to both fans of the game and those who have never played the game. I like the fact that they didn't spoil the movie with any modern elements like the movies of the past had tried to do. It had a good story and great special effects. Is it the story I would have told? Nope but I don't have a $100,000,000 to make a movie and my movie would have catered more to the D&D world and player. It also most likely would have been a complete flop because it's a very small niche market! They don't call this the "movie business" for nothing and I understand that. Let's face it, we won't see another movie if it doesn't make money! I would definitely pay to see a series of this type of movie providing they stay on the same path they are on. The movie was far from perfect from a game player stance, but the movie has been the truest to the spirit of the game to date.

Game players will be divided on the movie's success but everyone else will most likely be entertained.

Wargames wannabe!
27 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie has basically the same plot as Wargames with zero charm. I found the movie quite irritating. The only reason I finished watching it was to see how cheesy it would get. Everyone knows that the government is totally forgiving and let's criminals just walk away! Totally lame!

Visually stunning and underrated!
2 March 2019
I am floored this movie only has a mid 7's rating! I saw this movie at a pre-release party three days before the actual theater release. Went to the theaters not knowing what to expect. The trailers looked promising! The movie was action-packed, had good acting, and a nice plot. The action was second to none! Intense fight sequences and special effects. The only reason I did not give the movie a 10 was one of the love interest scenes at the end of the movie seemed very cheesy to me, that would be my only complaint.

The new Sith Lord needs a time out!
15 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like this movie but the cards were stacked against it after 3 dismal attempts to reproduce the success of the first 3 movies in episode 1, 2 and 3 "prequel movies", which in my opinion are almost unwatchable. The only redeeming quality the 1st prequel movie had that this movie did not was a memorable bad guy that actually had a menacing screen presence! No offense to the actor who played Kylo Ren but the new Star Wars bad guy SUCKS! This character comes up short in so many ways it is not even funny! He is not intimidating at all! The attempt at comedy by portraying him as a this tantrum throwing kid makes him irritating not scary and the fact that he is the child of 2 of the veteran main characters makes it even worse!

The plot for the movie was pretty predictable and most of the interaction between the new characters seemed a little hollow and empty. There was no epic light saber battles and the plot had a very similar feel to episode 6 "A New Hope" which was kind of a let down. I hate the new droid! The magic of the first 2 movies was the fact that it wasn't made for kids! I hate what happens to movie franchises when they start catering to kids! This is the kind of crap that produces characters like the Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks!

As expected the special effects were killer and the interaction between the old characters was entertaining and nostalgic but in no way made up for the other short comings of the movie. I will see the next movie out of morbid curiosity and because I did find this movie entertaining but it is a mere shadow of the first 3 movies.

Cool effects that get lost in a lame plot.
28 December 2015
I don't get it, I have read a lot of the reviews at the top of the list and I am starting to think I saw a worse movie than everyone else in a dream?!?!

The plot I saw was weak with a lot of misdirection to make the movie seem more intelligent then it really was. Don't get me wrong, the special effects were awesome but to me the plot was misleading and thin at best. A dream, in a dream, in a dream? Yes it is as stupid as it sounds! For me it takes a lot more then special effects to make a movie! I just wish people were a little more honest when they were reviewing this movie. Maybe people who didn't really actually understand the movie rated it higher so they would feel smarter and better about themselves? Not the worst movie I have ever seen but definitely not a 9+ rating!

It's anybody's guess.

I didn't hate it?
16 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The whole movie just feels different but not in a good way.

If you are going to see the movie expecting to see an update of the original, you might want to stay home and wait for pay-per-view.

I had no Idea what to expect when I went to see this movie. I really liked the first movie and was hoping for a lot of the same. I honestly think they tried too hard to make this movie about the human condition and less about a sci-fi action thriller.

Now the original movie did show that human condition struggle it also had so much more! It was campy, funny, blood thirsty and a Drama. I would definitely call it a roller coaster ride of emotion.

In this movie it seems more like a serious movie about a Man trying to be a robot whereas the first movie was a sci-fi movie about a robot struggling to be more human. The original seeming a little more interesting to me.

There was no real bad guy! It was kind of a wash in the bad guy department with just about everyone in the movie assuming the roll of bad guy at one point or another.

As stated I didn't hate the movie, it had killer special effects and tons of action but ALL Sci-fi movies have this these days! I also didn't like the fact that they changed a main character out in the movie just so they could make a race joke? Really? Has it come to that?

I Rated it a 6, I wish I had waited for the $5 pay-per-view instead of the $50 I spent so the family could see it.

This movie sucked out loud!
23 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
My wife and I wanted to see this movie seeing as the trailer for it seemed very intriguing! The theater was pretty much empty to our surprise but we figured it was because the movie opened the previous weekend. The opening fight sequence seemed pretty weak and it was all down hill from there! The main character gets "implanted" with an "alien entity" and the bantering between the 2 voices is painful! The main characters inner voice monologue was extremely dull and ingenuine. Gotta say it was some of the worst acting I have seen since Anakin in The Phantom Menace! My wife and I got about 20 minutes in and had to leave because it was so awful! The ONLY reason I gave this movie a 3 is because I didn't see the entire movie. It could have gotten better, but I doubt it. All I do know is the plot and acting up until the point where we left scores a big goose egg! I mean how could it have gotten any worse right? RIGHT?

It was so bad we asked for and got our money back and according to the movie staff, we weren't the only ones! Pretty sad really, Robert

It's a Zombie Movie people! What did you expect?
23 June 2013
THE RANT: I love it when people boost up a genre type when only 10 years ago it was considered junk cinema LOL! Now all of a sudden the acting in Zombie films needs to be award winning and an in depth plot driven masterpiece? ROFL! I love it when reviewers try to compare it to Zombie movies that have already been done! IT'S Dead People running around attacking living people, how original is it going to be? Give me a break folks! What it really boils down to I think, is a lot of die hard Zombie movie fans were expecting a gory head splitting flick and came up empty.

REVIEW: My wife, daughter and I went and saw it last night not expecting anything earth shattering seeing as we were going to see a Zombie movie. The movie was fast paced, had a lot of action and for the most part it was a very interesting movie. The acting was good and there are several heart felt moments in the movie. If you have your heart set on seeing a gore fest typical Zombie flick you might want to find another movie. There is a PG13 rating for this movie so it is tame in comparison to a lot of other movies in this genre. Pretty sure this is the reason a lot of the public reviewers are slagging the film so bad.

I didn't hate it LOL!
12 June 2013
My wife talked me into seeing the sneak preview of this movie because I am pretty sure she likes James Franco LOL. The movie started off pretty slow and it took a while to get moving. When it finally started to pick up, it was mostly a bunch of actors pretending to complain about each other and over the top situations and acting. Most of the really funny moments in the movie seamed pretty juvenile and cliché. I laughed several times but it wasn't what I would call a "Blockbuster". Knowing what I know now, I wish I has saved the $30 and waited to see it on pay per view.

Star Trek loyalist's revolt?
17 May 2013
I just got home from the movie and I have to say it is one of the best movies I have seen all year and I have seen all the "Blockbusters" so far. My wife and daughter really enjoyed it too. I came here to read some of the reviews and I have to say I was really surprised that there was so many bad ones slagging this movie! It's almost like they go in wanting to hate the movie and pick it apart! I have seen ALL the Star Trek movies and this is without a doubt is the best movie in the franchise. I am guessing the amount of bad reviews just boils down to them being the most bitter and wanting to drive down the movies success. It has to be killing them that the rating is over 8 LOL!

I didn't read the book and I enjoyed the movie LOL
14 February 2013
I am not going to say I read the book and this movie is nothing like it because I haven't read the book. :) From the reviews I have read on this movie, if you have read the book you might be better off saving your cash and rereading the book again LOL! This being said, for the life of me I will never understand why anyone who has throughly enjoyed a book would ever go see a movie about it. THEY ARE NEVER AS GOOD AS THE BOOK!

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't a great movie but my wife and I found it pretty entertaining. It had a good story and a fair amount of interesting special effects a typical teen love story and a decent ending that does leave room for a second movie. Check it out if you have a few hours and dollars to spend, just don't read the book before you see it LOL!

The Movie that lost it's way!
13 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I saw the preview for this movie on TV and thought it might be worth seeing. I went with my wife and my brother. We saw the film on opening night and we were surprised how few people were there to see this movie. The line at the theater was non existent, so we didn't have any problems getting a good seat. The movie started out decent with some really killer special effects and the story was really warming up good. At first it had a very Independence Day meets Matrix feel to it. Unfortunately the story really started to fall on it's face by the second half of the movie and by the end of the flick me and my wife actually looked at each other and said "ohhhh Please!!!!" My wife and I both were wishing we had waited for the movie to come out on pay per view, instead of spending the $23 to go see it at the theater. I didn't hate it but my wife has a very low tolerance for substandard endings and she said it wrecked the entire movie for her. It was a decent movie 1/2 of the way through but watch out for the major wannabe "epic love story" cheesy ending!

Very entertaining movie.

Warning: Spoilers
I took my wife and my 2 kids to see The Sorcerer's Apprentice today. We saw the first showing so there wasn't a huge crowd at the doors. It is a good thing too because the heat was about 104 here in Southern California. I didn't go to the movie expecting very much after I saw the trailers but both my wife and kids had expressed an interest in seeing it. Disney basically took 2 very well known stories and kind of melded them together to make one cohesive plot. The movie had killer effects and some good acting with very big stars. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the movie and how they left the chance for a sequel, which I would most likely see. All and all I walked out of the theater with my smiling family and not regretting the money we had spent to see it.

Iron Man 2 (2010)

For the most part very entertaining!
8 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to wait a few weeks to see Iron man 2 because I hate lines but my wife insisted on seeing it the first day it came out. I went to the theater early , got tickets and waited in the movie line for her until she got off work and she met me there. The line for the 4:30 show wasn't terrible but it was pretty crowded, I got there an hour early. I went to this movie not expecting to see the first movie. I was pretty happy with the movie in general but it was definitely a shadow of the first movie which I gave a 9. The plot was typical and the increase of the arrogant side of Tony Stark character was a little much for my liking. Even still it was a good movie with great visual effects and worth the cash to see it. If you are going to see it, get there early! When we got out of our show the line for the next show went all the way around the building!

Clash of the movie reviews!
8 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I went to see this movie despite the fact that it was getting slagged on here by most of the reviewers. I was a big fan of the first Clash of the Titans movie but I went to see this movie not expecting to see the same movie. I also knew that there were several liberties taken with the popular Myth legends as there was in the first film. All this taken into consideration, I still thought the movie was very worth while and entertaining. The CGI was stunning especially in the Medusa scenes. I also thought that the story was close enough to still be enjoyed but not be a total repeat of the first film.

I just can't understand why anyone would want to go see an exact remake of the first movie and then come on here and say the movie sucked just because it swayed from the original movie story a bit. Oh well, if you want to see a really cool special effects ride with a similar story to the original Clash of the Titans, check this movie out! If you are a anal whiner that gets easily upset when someone moves a picture frame in your house, you might wanna steer clear of this one.

The Movie that killed the chances of a decent new Alice movie!
8 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I have been waiting for the last several years for an American McGees's Alice movie that has been in the works and this movie has pretty much spoiled the chances of that happening. With that being said on to the review.

I went to this movie expecting a total piece of crap and was surprised that the movie wasn't all that bad. First off I hated the way they made the mad hatter look(AssClown)and was even more bummed that I actually thought Depp did a semi-decent job playing the Hatter! I just couldn't get past his stupid makeup job! IMO this is the character Depp should have portrayed as Willy Wonka, it might have even saved that movie from the junk pile. The rest of the movie was pretty much a visual spectacle with some decent scenes and a few memorable moments with the Cat being the best character of the movie, big surprise! I left the theater with my wife and $22 less in my pocket and a longing for the movie I really wanted to see, American McGee's ALice. :-(

I wish Burton would go back to his old style of avantgarde movies.\

Transformers 2: The BIG movie that couldn't?!?!
28 June 2009
Might have spoilers! I usually wait a few weeks to see the big "Block Buster" movies because I don't like lines or crowded theaters. For some reason my wife has been bugging me to take her and the kids to see this since it released on Tuesday. After waiting in line for an hour in the 95 degree California sun, we spent another half an hour in the theater before the movie started.

First off, I went to the first movie because I have 2 school age kids that were wanting to see it. I hated the cartoon because of the juvenile humor and irritating voice characterizations. This first movie IMO had none of these things and was a fantastic action movie!(I gave it an 8) Within the first 10 minutes of the new movie I knew I was going to be disappointed. They added a lot of the voice crap from the cartoon I hated. Why does Hollywood have to ruin movies by adding stereo-typed characters to them? If I see another modern movie with a 70ies style jive voice in it I am going to freaking scream! I see this urban element in tons of the new movies, even in ones that are supposed to be in medieval times! WHY! WHY! WHY! This movie was trying to please way too many age groups IMO. There was way too much sophomoric humor in this movie that was being pushed toward a preteen crowd. I never thought I would spend my hard earned money to see dogs have sex, TWICE! I am not a prude be any means and I like seeing good looking women bent over in their panties but not when I am sitting next to my 13 year old daughter! One of these scenes actually had a soft-core porn feel to it! This movie was a very cool special effects ride with some parts that were just plain irritating! For the rating? I would say it borders on an R for the sexual content, language, drug use and adult humor.

Worth seeing if you have money to burn and nothing to do on a Saturday Night but leave the 16 and under kids at home!

Decent flick if you are not looking for accurate Comic book fare
5 May 2009
Saw the movie last night expecting to see a total train wreck from the reviews I was reading on here by the fan boys royally slagging the film and I was pretty surprised to see it was actually a decent flick with good acting, action and special effects. There was a couple of parts that conflicted with the other movies but no world ending cataclysms. Basically if your are a serious fan of the comics you are going to be bummed at the changes made to the Wolverine character story and other character's stories in the movie. If you are a movie fan with a little exposure to the comics you aren't going to care and will most likely enjoy the movie.

The bottom line is if you like action movies you'll like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it is real obvious that the movie makers didn't really care about pleasing the comic book fan boys on this one and their money would be better spent elsewhere.

One of the funniest movies I have seen in a while!
25 October 2004
My wife forced me to go see this movie due to the fact that she loves South Park and figured this movie would be just as funny. I am not a huge South Park fan although I have seen several of the shows in the series and the big screen movie, which was pretty funny. I saw the previews of this movie and thought it would be a cheesy R rated version of the Thunderbirds show with no real thought going into the story. It was a little slow at first but once it got rolling it was extremely funny and I was really glad my wife talked me into seeing it. I am taking a long shot guess here because I have not read any reviews for the movie yet but I have a feeling the movie will not be very popular with democrats that don't have a sense of humor. It pokes fun at republicans too but I have a feeling the Libs took a much harder beating in the flick. I am now watching all the South Park shows because of this movie. The funniest part to me was the fact that my wife fell asleep in the first 20 minutes of the movie and to this day still hasn't seen it!
