Christmas on Cherry Lane (2023)
Warm Christmas movie
This movie is about three different families living in the same home but at different time periods. It may seem to be a little confusing as it jumps between each story but each one is unique and interesting so it definitely keeps your interest. After a bit you easily get drawn into the families and their family/friends and the stories.
There is a neighbor who is constant in all the years which helps tie it all together. There are many familiar faces and good acting from everyone.
Without spoilers I just want to say that all of the stories leave you with tears and the wonderful feeling of love at the holiday season. Well worth the watch.
A Biltmore Christmas (2023)
Refreshing!
I know time travel has been done a few times in Hallmark Christmas movies but never has it been so refreshing and heartwarming! First Bethany Joy and Kristopher are two of my faves and their chemistry is such a good match. The writing of the script gets a huge A+ as the quips they exchanged and the whole storyline was all so beautiful.
The location and costumes and words all combined to give us such a modern take on the old movies including the slightly over the top acting that is reminiscent of the movie era.
They knocked it out of the park with this one. You come away with your heart filled with Christmas spirit. Great movie!
Christmas Island (2023)
Slow - just ok
Acting was ok but the plot was weak. Stuck not able to fly out but every time they go outside the weather is lovely. The two main characters bounce from sharp unlikeable personas to Christmassy helpfulness - and she is off and on with her personality. Not sure why he would chose this grumpy person. I usually enjoy both main actors but they we're missing character depth in this one.
The poor little rich kids side was off and on too. One minute the daughter was interested in doing something and the next she wasn't. It was ok but it had a hard time holding my interest and was tempted to turn it off.
Never Been Chris'd (2023)
Disappointing
I really enjoy Tyler in his Hallmark movies but this character was 2 dimensional. Seeing him hop from one friend to the other was cringeworthy and certainly didn't endear him to the audience.
Then it seems randomly he picks the bubbly one to concentrate on ... or was it just because the other backed away? It was a cute premise that went downhill fast. Maybe if he had picked the other one the story could have been stronger. Yes it was about friendship and about two women supporting each other. However they kept their actual desires to themselves over the years so how deep was the friendship after all?
The Wedding Cottage (2023)
Sweet chemistry
Really enjoyed this movie as the characters had real chemistry and a sweetness about them. It doesn't hurt that I love both of the main actors and believe they are talented, so put it in my list because of them. Kudos that Hallmark is using actors that are more mature with real ability.
Only found a few off putting moments- the fact that she had given up wedding planning as she was so busy with her new career was not believable and if course the 'misunderstanding' that seems to be built into so many of their movies. Would such mature characters not actually discuss it? The secondary characters were also great.
Access Hollywood
Excellent spinoff!
This episode of The Good Doctor that introduced the Good Lawyer was engaging and touching. Using a similar background with the main character having OCD and struggling in her desire to be a lawyer. Her tendencies cause her issues with people who don't understand but her attention to detail makes her strong in her ability to see what others miss. Throw in Felicity as her harsh mentor who deep down really cares and you have two great characters that play off each other.
Just as we fell for The Good Doctor and watched the characters around him start to respect and see his strengths, this new show will be in the same mold. Can't wait to watch it when it comes out!
Just One Kiss (2022)
Refreshing!
Are you bored with the usual Hallmark scenarios? At first I couldn't picture these two together but the movie progresses beautifully and the ending was so heartwarming, right to the last words in the screen. Uplifting with great old musical standards that bring joy to your heart!
Grey's Anatomy: Song Beneath the Song (2011)
Emotional and so well done
This episode amazed me - Sara Ramirez was stunning in her singing and I was so so surprised by the other cast members too!
It did not detract from the story line in any way - in fact, it made the feelings of each cast member stand out more and I found my heart and my mind totally captivated by this episode.
Absolutely fabulous! I was worried it would be hokey, but it was very cool. I would watch it again right now just to see Sara standing and singing, particularly when she was willing herself to wake up. Pure emotion in her voice.
If you haven't seen this episode - catch it on demand!!
