Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022)
Now I truly loved this fantasy film!
Any film with Idris is a film worth watching - any film with Tilda is a film not to be missed - and any film directed by George Mitchell you KNOW will be top dog! OK, soundtrack = 10, special effects = 10, acting = 10, script adaption (from book) = 8, did I say Idris was beautiful (even with his Djinn ears? Did I say that I cried at the end? I watched the credits until the VERY end because #1 the soundtrack was SO AWESOME, and I didn't want this story to end. The little ladies who were Alithea's (Tilda) neighbors were darling! The Queen of Sheba was stunning, the 80+ year old Sultan who married the young teenager was horny to say the least (poor girl😢). The last 10 minutes were when I really sobbed but no spoilers here... Loved it - gave it a 9 rating and I'm not changing it for anyone!
Adoration (2013)
Geez Louise!
I didn't expect to love this gorgeous film! It was superbly cast, amazing acting (really?) I didn't want it to end - ever! Ian and Roz forever that's what I say.
The location was the very best part of the film, with stunning Australian beaches, sparkling clear ocean, and waves to die for! It certainly was a edgy script and could have resulted in wanton sex scenes but instead the director created an understandable scenario, Kudos to Naiomi and Robin for handling the sex scenes with grace, beauty and yes, desire. I believe the ending was perfect. It said it all.
Behzat Ç.: Bir Ankara Polisiyesi (2010)
Behzat Ç is the Best Turkish language series ever!
Spoiler Alert:
I finished and am completely spent emotionally. I sobbed along with Ghost as his tears fell and for Behzat's tormented soul, this man is Everyman - my son committed suicide two years ago this Friday, my husband died a horrible death by throat cancer a year ago, I have suffered immeasurable pain and yet I can empathize with Behzat and his immense, deep soulful pain.
The writers deserve our gratitude for creating such complete characters, including their many quirks and faults.
The actors - what can I say? All brilliant in their own way but of course our Captain, Erdal Besikcioglu, must be singled out as a truly gifted actor. His immersion into the role of Behzat is nothing short of genius.
All in all, one if the finest works of film art I have ever been privileged to view.
