Chief of Station (2024)
Dull.
In Chief of Station, learning that the death of his wife was not an accident, a former CIA Station Chief is forced back into the espionage underworld, teaming up with an adversary to unravel a conspiracy that challenges everything he thought he knew.
The film improves a little in the 2nd-half, but it's bland and generic, without grit or suspense and the story certainly never intrigues. Aaron Eckhart's not lead material and there were no twists because we could see everything coming. Another point, Ben's gets his son with no experience to face the assassins straight on and shoot at them, surely he'd be better off being the shooter and the son driving, but why didn't the assassins hit him.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G1 - Cavaliers vs Celtics (2024)
R2G1 - Cavs @ Celtics, May 7 2024.
Allen out for Cleveland, Porzingis Boston. Can't see the Cavs being a factor in this series, but that's why they play the games, as the Celtics showed getting knocked out last year. Boston up double-digits early, but Cleveland hit the lead with a barrage of 3's. The Celtics end the term well though, up 6 at the quarter break and then 10 at the half. Tatum with a good block to start the 3rd and makes the nice pass to Holiday for the 3 the trip down. Holiday soon hits another and Brown asserting his physical dominance on the smaller Cavs guards. Pritchard with a buzzer-beater 3 to end the term, Boston up 15. They extend the margin in the 4th, in a one-sided affair, taking a 1-0 series lead. I feel like the Celtics need to give these other teams a handicap... it just ain't fair. Boston shot much better from the field and 3, Cleveland just 26% from there. Neither team turned the ball over at all, with 11 collectively between them, the Celtics dominant on the boards +17. Brown with an efficient 32 points and 6 boards, just 1 turnover. White an efficient 25 points and 5 assists, with no turnovers. Pritchard 16 points and 5 boards off the bench. Tatum an inefficient 18 points, 5 assists, 11 boards and 3 blocks, with 1 turnover. For Cleveland, Mitchell 33 points, 5 assists and 6 boards.
3. (Bos) J. Brown, 2. (Bos) D. White, 1. (Cle) D. Mitchell.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
Fun and better than the prior film.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.
Wow, so much negativity, these reviews are messed up. I had the opposite experience as usual and found it to be an enjoyable fun film, with a few lulls here or there, but plenty of laughs, the stay-puft marshmallows every time. McKenna Grace remains a solid lead, along with Paul Rudd and there's a quality threat present. Maybe too many characters, but maybe for the better, surely they could find a laugh or integral scene for Bill Murray though.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G2 - Timberwolves vs Nuggets (2024)
R2G2 - Wolves @ Nuggets, May 6 2024.
Minnesota taking the opening game, Gobert out for this one. A very good start by Gordon. I like that the ref didn't compound his clear mistake by tec'ing up Malone, the Wolves up 8 at the quarter break though. Minnesota's defense troubling Denver, they Wolves on a run and kick the lead out to 20. The Nuggets rattled and Edwards starts to get going. Reid giving them a punch off the bench as well, Minnesota out to sizeable 26-point halftime lead. Alexander-Walker dominating the matchup with Murray, the Wolves up 22 going into the 4th. Denver makes no inroad, a big win by the Timberwolves on the road without Gobert, to take a 2-0 series lead. Minnesota shot much better, Denver shooting just 35% from the field. The Nuggets also with as many turnovers as assists, +8 on the boards. Alexander-Walker with excellent defense, 14 points, 4 of 7 from deep off the bench, 6 boards and 3 blocks. Towns an efficient 27 points, 12 boards and 2 blocks. Edwards an efficient 27 points as well, 7 assists and 2 steals. Anderson 8 assists, 9 boards, 7 offensive and 2 steals. Reid 14 points off the bench, 4 of 8 from deep, 5 boards and 4 blocks.

Unfrosted (2024)
Someone's gone froot loops.
In Unfrosted, business rivals Kellogg's and Post compete to create a cake that could change breakfast forever.
Erm yeah so "Seinfeld" was a show about nothing, filled with substance, great characters, witty dialogue and lots and lots of laughter, this film has none of those things. These other so called actors or comedians? Have never really done anything I've ever liked so, I don't know why Jerry would associate with them. The whole thing's just silly and a waste of one's time, maybe there was a chuckle or two, I dunno. This great man could make many awful films though and he still be that... the show must go on!
NBA on ESPN: NBA Playoffs - R1G7 - Magic vs Cavaliers (2024)
R1G7 - Magic @ Cavs, May 5 2024.
Allen out for Cleveland. Orlando playing solid defense, on a 13-0 1st-term run, Mitchell forcing deep 3's early in the possession. The Cavs end the term well though to cut the deficit to 6. One man show Banchero, the Magic kick the lead back out. Anthony the chase down block on Garland and then scores the trip down. Cleveland cuts a sizeable deficit to 10 going into halftime. Mitchell two early 3's in the 3rd and brings them back, some of his attacks appear to be going directly into the chest of Suggs though. The Cavs hit the lead, Okoro doing a job defensively. Strus back to back 3's and Cleveland takes an 8-point lead into the 4th. The whole game has changed, with Orlando struggling to score and the Cavs getting easy points in transition and at the line. Cleveland up double-digits late and comfortably win it, to advance and face the Celtics. Not great shooting, with a lot of free-throws, Orlando just 34% from the field. The Magic with as many turnovers as assists as well, +1 on the boards. Mitchell with 39 points, 5 assists and 9 boards, just 1 turnover. Mobley 11 points, 16 boards, 5 offensive and 5 blocks, but 6 turnovers. For Orlando, Banchero 38 points, 16 boards, 4 offensive and 3 steals, but 5 turnovers. The Magic's other starters 10 of 42 from the field.
3. (Cle) D. Mitchell, 2. (Orl) P. Banchero, 1. (Cle) E. Mobley.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R2G1 - Timberwolves vs Nuggets (2024)
R2G1 - Timberwolves @ Nuggets, May 4 2024.
Minnesota starts with a 9-0 run, through Edwards and soon another 3. The Wolves making the Nuggets uncomfortable offensively early. Caldwell-Pope superb hustle, Denver on a 13-0 run, before Edwards gets an and1. Jackson giving the Nuggets a lift off the bench and they lead by 2 at the quarter break. Porter continues to make big shots. Edwards gets raked and gets no whistle, heh. Denver up 4 at the half, despite a scoreless Murray. Towns productive early in the 3rd and Conley back to back 3's, the Wolves up 2 going into the last. Murray with a 4-point play, to answer Miller's question, because one action's inciting a fight and the other isn't, Edwards moved towards in front of the player and Murray's lying on the floor, but then Reggie was an inciter. Reid with a flurry in the 4th and everything going for Minnesota. Jokic still makes me laugh, making crazy shots as part of his repertoire. The Wolves take game one, by 7 points. Both teams shot well, Minnesota better from the field, Denver marginally from 3, with more production at the line. Edwards with an efficient 43 points, 7 boards and 2 blocks, just 1 turnover. Conley 14 points, 3 of 4 from deep and 10 assists. Reid 16 points off the bench, 7 of 11 from the field. Gobert good defense, 13 boards and 3 blocks. Towns 20 points. For the Nuggets, Porter 20 points, 4 of 7 from deep, 6 boards and 3 steals. Jokic 32 points, 9 assists, 8 boards and 3 steals, but 7 turnovers.
3. (Min) A. Edwards, 2. (Min) M. Conley, 1. (Den) M. Porter.

The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R1G5 - Mavericks vs Clippers (2024)
R1G5 - Mavs @ Clippers, May 1 2024.
The series tied at 2-2, Leonard out for the Clippers. Both teams can certainly score, with hardly an empty trip early, but will there be any defense without Kawhi. Both teams cool off though, Dallas up 1 at the quarter break. Kleber with back to back 3's in the 2nd. I assume they have George on Jones so that he won't be used a pick setter, with George roaming off, but Luka's scoring or setting up with too much ease. George needs to be affecting the ball-handler, having no affect roaming, Dallas up 10 at the half. Luka goes on a run himself and kicks the lead out to 20. George with back to back tough 3's, but Green gets a 4-point play in response, the Mavs up 20 at the end of the 3rd. The Clippers always under pressure, while Doncic gets what he wants for the Mavs. Dallas home comfortably by 30, taking a 3-2 series lead going home. The Mavericks shot better from both the field and 3, the Clippers ending the game at just 38% from the field. Dallas took better care of the ball, with just 8 turnovers, the Clippers +5 on the boards. Doncic with an efficient 35 points, 10 assists and 7 boards. Kleber an efficient 15 points off the bench, 5 of 7 from deep. Jones doing a good job locking down on George, with 12 points, 5 of 7 from the field and 3 blocks. Lively 12 points off the bench, 5 of 5 from the field and 7 boards. For the Clippers, Harden and George just 6 of 25 from the field.

Friday Night Football: Thursday Night Football - Round 8 - Adelaide vs Port Adelaide (2024)
Adel vs Port, at Adelaide Oval.
The courageous Rory Sloane hangs up the boots, one of the greats of the football club. Rozee was subbed off with injury last week, but seems to be in the lineup, Aliir still a significant out for Port though. Fogarty with back to back marks and goals to start the game for Adelaide and then Tex goals on the run from 50. Dixon marks and replies, but the Crows kick on. Marshall gets a soft free and goals from outside 50, Adelaide up 8 at quarter-time, with the Power having plenty of field position. Low-scoring, but the Crows still without a blemish. Port holding the man a lot, goalless for the term, Adelaide up 19 at the half. Walker slots one from the angle to start the 3rd and then Rankine slots the banana on the angle. Nothing going Port's way, almost goalless again, with Horne-Francis getting on the board just before 3-quarter time, the Crows lead by 23. Rozee subbed out with the same injury concern. The Power with a barrage, but can't finish. Adelaide fortunate to reply and go on to get the win, by 30 points. The hit-outs were even, Port +10 in the clearances, the Crows with more of the footy and applied 8 more tackles. The Power with 10 more inside 50's, for 3 more scoring shots, but conversion contrast, with Port having a shocker. Rankine best afield, with 5 inside 50's, 2 assists and 3 straight goals. NBA on NBA TV: NBA Playoffs - R1G5 - Magic vs Cavaliers (2024)
R1G5 - Magic @ Cavs, Apr 30 2024.
Oh thank god that loud woman's not in the commentary, can watch some of this series. Allen out for Cleveland. Banchero with back to back 3's in the 1st-term, Garland scoring with ease though, has the Cavs up 10 at the quarter break. Mobley with a good block on Carter in the 2nd, Orlando ends the half well, down just 1. I wonder why they play Carter instead of Isaac? Banchero going to work, needs someone to come with him, the Cavs up 5 going into the last. The Magic hit the lead in the 4th with back to back 3's. Mobley with the jam in traffic to put Cleveland ahead late and adds another off a Garland dime. Mobley then with the game-winning block at the basket, playing big down the stretch on both ends. The Cavs take a 3-2 series lead. Orlando shot better from the field, Cleveland better from 3, The Cavs took better care of the ball, with just 10 turnovers, the Magic +4 on the boards. Mobley with 14 points, 13 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks, just 1 turnover. Garland 23 points, 5 assists and 5 boards. Strus 16 points, 5 assists, 6 boards and 2 steals, just 1 turnover. For the Magic, Banchero an efficient 39 points and 8 boards.
3. (Orl) P. Banchero, 2. (Cle) E. Mobley, 1. (Cle) D. Garland.
12 Strong (2018)
Blah.
12 Strong tells the story of the first Special Forces team deployed to Afghanistan after 9/11; under the leadership of a new captain, the team must work with an Afghan warlord to take down the Taliban.
I don't know, I feel like I'd seen this film 100 times before. For starters the opening, introducing the main characters with their families and purpose had no substance and at no point thereafter did the film engage me at any time either. With a lot of confusion and gunfire, it was just sleep inducing. That's not to put a blight on the real happenings by any means, just the film's weightless and dull. Shooting guns on horses accurately, being an easy target and never getting hit, is also kind of stupid.
The NBA on TNT: NBA Playoffs - R1G5 - Lakers vs Nuggets (2024)
R1G5 - Lakers @ Nuggets, Apr 29 2024.
Denver up 3-1. The Nuggets struggle offensively early, except for Murray. Yet they still lead at the quarter break, by 4. Denver continues to struggle in the 2nd with high turnovers and Davis with another strong 1st-half for the Lakers, but the Nuggets still within 3. Porter never hesitant and making, putting Denver up 2 going into the last. LeBron very aggressive in the 4th, with buckets continuously traded down the stretch. Murray hits the dagger 3 and James ties it up at the line. Murray though with the game-winner once again, to end the series. The Nuggets shot slightly better from the field and significantly better from 3. The Lakers taking better care of the ball, with just 8 turnovers, Denver +4 on the boards. Porter with an efficient 26 points, 2 steals and just 1 turnover. Murray 32 points and 7 assists. Jokic unusually without a free-throw attempt and high turnovers in this one, 25 points, 9 assists and 20 boards, 7 turnovers. Gordon 7 points, 6 assists and 13 boards, 5 offensive. For the Lakers, LeBron 30 points, 11 assists, 9 boards and 4 steals, just 1 turnover. Davis 17 points, 15 boards and 2 blocks.

Maya (1989)
Forgotten.
In Maya, an ancient evil awakens in a small Mexican village and many people fall victim to its curse. It is up to a mystical doctor to try and stop this evil power before it is too late.
It's incoherent drivel... like the song by "The Prodigy"... "Voodoo People," thump, thump, thump. The film's lacking of the basics, with no plot, bad stupid characters, poor characterization and just random scenes. Couldn't care about a thing happening, honestly can't remember if I even watched the end or not, not sure. Sultry content included, but doesn't tantalize either. Voodoo people, thump, thump, thump.
