The Dark Riders (2001)
It will blow up your mind!
I just watched this film at a festival and was blown away! A very well-made piece with excellent direction and acting. A true Montessori attempt at film-making and storytelling. So few films at festivals really tell a story but this one contained a great plot. The ending will make you wish you had a moustache. Seriously!
My Hollywood inside sources have told me that Val Kilmer was interested in making this into a full-length feature. We'll see how that goes... I could totally see Val Kilmer as the lead in this. It reminds me of a poem. But not the rhyming kind because those are just silly- just plain silly. This is like a poem where NOTHING rhymes. More like a short story than a poem. Like a poetically-written short story.
If you get the chance, watch this film. It's like gold pudding.
The Last Big Thing (1996)
The Greatest Film Ever Made....
This film is as good as it is difficult to find. The film's hero (and writer and director) is Simon Geist- a man "with an agenda." He creates a fake magazine just to have the authority to interview the swine of Los Angeles- the actors, the models, the musicians- who believe that their own defecation doesn't smell. With clever dialog, Zucovic succeeds in doing this. Sure, the budget for this film was probably what he paid for a used car, but this film is so solid and so well written that it works very well. Any person who can reenact Edward Munk's 'The Scream' in the reflection of a silver trashbin at a local coffee house should be nominated for some type of award. Give this film a chance and listen to what it says... because they HAVE been making the same car since 1986... it's called 'the car.' Bravo, Zucovic, bravo!
