Fargo: The Crocodile's Dilemma (2014)
One of the best shows, Best Seasons, I have ever seen
When I first heard that they were going to make a Fargo TV Series, was both excited and perplexed. I am a big fan of the Coen Brothers movie, but I didn't understand if they were just going to copy the movie or what. What ended up doing for the Show was a stroke of genius. The movie Fargo, like all of the Coen Brothers movies, has a very particular feel/atmosphere to it. That atmosphere is achieved using several things that make up a movie or TV show, like theme, music and setting to name a few. What the show Fargo did so well was barrow these plot points from the 1996 movie Fargo and create a entirely new story that still fit with the idea of the movie's. they also dis things like placing the show in the same universe as the movie. Lastly the made the show an anthology, meaning each season has into own characters and story. I have not seen past season one yet... however i heard it is just a good in season two and three as it is in the first. I have seen season one 3+ times now and I gotta say, season one is going to be hard to beat. It is fantastic. I highly recommend this show.
Norma Rae (1979)
B movie style, A movie quality.
This is a very good movie. It is extremely fun to watch. The movie is simple to explain, basically the movie is about a labor organizer who comes to a small southern town with the mission to set up a labor union at the local cotton mill. Obviously, the mill does not want it's workers to organize. After the organizer arrives he ends up making friends with a worker at the mill. Obviously there is more to the story then this but this is the basic synopsis. The film does a good job of telling the story of how some of the blue collar workers are treated in our country. The quality of the film stock reminds me of a B movie. But the acting and story are superb and nothing short of a quality A list flick. I know the movie came out in 1979, so I was expecting a little lower quality film stock but this is so far below the standards of the time that I think it was by design to help put the viewers in the shoes of the cotton mill workers. The trick was nothing short of effective, I think this low quality of the film's picture helped put me in the right frame of mind. As far as the acting goes it is great. In fact Sally field wan an Oscar for her performance in the movie. And I think the labor organizer at least deserved a nomination. The other Oscar that the film won was for Best Original Song, and the song deserved it. The music here is simple and the song defiantly anchors the light soundtrack. Other then these two wins the film was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture. Those last two nominations go to show just how good this movie really is!!! Take my advise, WATCH IT!
The Hangover Part III (2013)
Just another another average flick.
Let me start off by saying that I am an avid movie, film and TV show watcher and collector. However, as with any review, this is just my opinion. I know a lot about movies, but that does not qualify me or anyone to tell someone what is a good film. I believe that a true movie fan, should watch any and all movies. But that is not possible, so we read reviews to decide what to watch. Just take reviews with a grain of salt, if you want to see a movie... do it. Don't let bad review(s) detour you.
Now I am a fan of the Hangover movies. I have seen the first two, and own both of them. The first one is great, the second one not so much. This one is radically different then the first two in the series. First, the third one has more of a plot than the second and even the first. I think this is a good thing, I love the first one but I wish it had more going on. Second, the film is not as explicit as either of the first two. The second one especially was just a lot of gross out humor. Even the first one had some, but Hangover: Part III goes for more awkward situations. To top it all off Hangover: Part III is not even about a hangover.
In short I thought Hangover: Part III was average and forgettable. I give it 5 out of 10. It is loads better than Hangover: Part II and stills fails to live up to The Hangover. There were a few giggles for me but over all I didn't even find it that funny. I will not be buying this one, and I bought Part II. The director Todd Phillips has shown that he has skill when it comes to comedy with films like Old School and The Hangover. I just wish he would stop making sequels to The Hangover.
