Green Day: Bullet in a Bible (2005)
Euphoric Ecstasy Hits Brand New Levels
I have been a massive Green Day fan since summer 2005, and since then my love for Billie, Mike and Tre has increased dramatically! After watching Green Day perform at Milton Keynes, I realise one of my main ambitions in life is to one day see my idols rock the world, to experience the overwhelming excitement, that only Green Day can promote. For me it's debatable if anyone can come close to Green Day's standard of performing live. The way Billie interacts with the audience is simply incredible, as the show progresses he builds everyone up until they burst into euphoric ecstasy. They perform every blockbuster hit to a new level and standard not seen before. Some people stereotype Green Day and underestimate them for promoting the Punk Image, but Green Day also promote people to stick up for themselves, and to not conform to rules and regulations, especially from any government, or any other corrupt higher power. The interviews with the band are also fascinating, as it gives you a deep insight to the preparation of the show and backstage area. Green Day have forever transcended the music scene, they have raised the barrier of limitations, and have shown the sky is the limit. Green Day Forever Rule!!
Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker (2005)
15 Year History Of One Of The Best WWE Superstars Ever
'Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker' is just as incredible as I expected it to be...To be honest, what do u expect from one of the greatest legends in WWE history? Undertaker beats just about every WWE icon thinkable with his Choakslam and Tombstone. For me every single match on this DVD sums up what Undertaker's legacy is all about, and you can see from his spine-tingling entrances (sometimes accompanied by Paul Bearer) how much he changes in his decade and a half of destruction. What also really impressed me about the structure of the DVD was the narrator, he has the best possible voice you would want to hear, as his creepy tone links with the mysterious and dreary atmosphere you can only experience from the Undertaker. This DVD is perfect for showing off Undertaker's every attribute. We are treated to a chronological account of his best matches, the DVD progresses like a story, and then you see the full match as proof. Also the extras really compliment the many story-lines and feuds Undertaker has been part of. This DVD is one of my crucial possessions as a massive Undertaker fan, and it's a must have for every WWE fan - Past, Present and Future!!!! Undertaker is one of those rare superstars who is honored by all of his peers, and of course the whole World. Undertaker's Legacy will last forever!!!! Rest In Peace Deadman!!!!
War of the Worlds (2005)
Terrific Sci-fi Hollywood Blockbuster Which Is Out Of This World!
'War of the Worlds' was just as fantastic as I expected it to be! Obviously it's extremely different to the original 'War of the Worlds' because Special Effects and Technology has changed dramatically since UFO's were flying around on visible string. I think this film was clearly one of the best roles Tom Cruise has ever portrayed, because there is a clear absence of that cheeky infamous grin Mr Cruise uses frequently in his previous films. He isn't the stereotypical protagonist Action hero in this flick, instead I saw a helpless, everyday Father who truly loves his family. I hope his brilliant performance in this film widens his potential for future roles. One aspect I did notice was how fast the equilibrium was broken, because it seemed to go disastrous pretty quickly. The Special Effects were really good, but there weren't quite enough explosions or more Special effects for my liking, instead there seemed to be a lot more focus on the plot, and the relationship of the family. I think Steven Spielberg took quite a few risks with the appearance of the Aliens because of course no one knows what Aliens look like; Spielberg used the stereotypical look that has been produced in other films such as 'Alien'. I did enjoy the scenes with the Aliens creeping around the hut, and I found the way they moved quite creepy and very genuine. I don't like the people who think the film should copy the book, I mean I just saw it as a very successful Hollywood Sci-fi film which continues Spielberg's legacy.

Casablanca (1942)
Very Good Film With Unforgettable Dialogue
'Casablanca' exceeded all my expectations, when I watched it this morning! I mean before I didn't think I would like it at all, but I know it's revolutionised cinema, and I can now see exactly why. I watched this film in my Film Studies Lecture at Kingston University with about 200 other people. I haven't seen many films that are that old, but I now appreciate that these films were for another generation, and used all the technology available at the time to it's fullest, and if it wouldn't of been for these films, we wouldn't see the sort of films we love today. I thought Humphrey Bogart was extremely good in this film - he came across as a very cool character, and by the end I wanted to emulate his unforgettable lines such as: 'Here's Looking At You Kid', and of course the very final line in the film. This film also teaches many valuable lessons, that all of us can learn from. Finally, I recommend this film to everyone because of the epic values it portrays. Believe all the hype surrounding this absolute masterpiece!
Saw (2004)
Twisted, Disturbing, Very Original & Clever
I SAW it last night expecting it to be a very good film, and it certainly was! It's the kind of film that looked amazing in the distinctable trailer that looked disturbing. Without giving anything away, there are quite a few NASTY concepts in the film that make you cringe - some of the memorable ones are: a jaw snapper, an automatic firing squad, spaghetti junction in razor, barbed wire, but for me the moment that most affected me and made my skin crawl was when Lawrence resulted to shoving a shirt in his mouth to decrease the volume of his screaming & cut off his bloody supply leading to his foot, and then he CUT his own FOOT OFF with the SAW!!! There was something about the way Lawrence said to Adam he'll get help that made me Laugh, maybe because of how OVER THE TOP he acted it - to a point of making the scene CHEESY. The SCRIPT writing of this film was very carefully thought of and it actually included some very humorous sentences. The conclusion was quite confusing for me because somethings weren't fully explained in an easy way to understand, but after the film and I started thinking about it, it was such a CLEVER & ORIGINAL film, that at times was genuinely SCARY & JUMPY. It is without a doubt one of the best HORROR in a long time! I'll recommend it to anyone who wants a film that is so TENSE all the way & a film that makes you THINK & of course someone who wants a REAL FRIGHT! I will never look at a saw in the same way ever again, & surely neither will you! Two final words, SEE-SAW!!!
The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Extremely Violent With A Great Plot That's Very Effective!
I decided to see 'The Passion of the Christ' with my mate at the cinema last night because I was really curious and a few of my mates said it was excellent, and it actually turned out to be very good. I really had no idea of what to expect, but I knew it would be very different from any other film I've ever seen. I was pleased that there were English subtitles throughout the film, but there wasn't even that much dialogue towards the end of the film, because of the torture inflicted on Jesus. But at the start we find out why Jesus is being executed, and the subtitles really helped me understand everything. The whole film overall looks really old, and Mel Gibson makes the mise-en-scene look really believable and realistic. It's very effective in making the characters and set look about two thousand years old. There has been talk that this is a very anti-Jewish film but I didn't think it was too anti-Jewish, except maybe for when the Jews demanded Jesus to be crucified and I could see if it was anti-Jewish, because I'm Jewish. I've seen a lot of disturbing scenes in films before, but the sort of torture given to Jesus is definitely one of the most effective, especially when the Romans whip his back with these utensils that shred and tear his flesh, and leave Jesus in a big pool of his own blood. It also looked extremely real when they bang in the nails into his wrists and feet onto the cross. I didn't expect as much whipping onto his back as the roman's did, it must have lasted about ten minutes, and towards the end it becomes repetitive, and no longer a shock. But I must congratulate Mel Gibson in directing just as well as he acted in: We Were Soldiers, Payback and Ransom. I can't wait for it to be released on DVD!!!
Last Man Standing (1996)
Another Smash Hit From Bruce Willis & Co
Last Man standing is simply amazing, I didn't think much of the DVD case at my mate's house since the spine and front cover looked like an action man film, since it was bright orange. But right from the start when John Smith pulls up in what seemed like a deserted town called Jericho, but we soon see Doyle's gang smashing his car, but little did Doyle's gang know John Smith is overwhelmingly lethal with his two guns. The film then carries on with Smith getting familiar with the way things work around Jericho, he learns that the town is run by two opposing gangs in an effort to rule Jericho. Smith then plays an incredibly smart game when he pretends to work for one gang, but then switches sides to work for the other gang. Smith then finds out that the only way of surviving is to be independent, and he smartly fools both gangs by the brilliant climax. This film has a really effective atmosphere that makes us feel the strong tension, with an old western feel. Simply put Bruce Willis heads a great cast into producing a classic film, it's a must see for anyone who really appreciates gangster films, and yet again tremendous acting from especially Bruce Willis!
The Jackal (1997)
A Very Memorable Epic Where Bruce Willis Shines!!!
I didn't really want to see this film because it didn't look anything special, but I just had enough time to watch it with my mate before it was due back at blockbuster. Little did I know what a huge success it really turned out to be! Bruce Willis was perfect for playing the notorious killer simply known as 'The Jackal', this could of been a huge flop it the wrong sort of actor had this crucial main part, but Bruce really brought this character to life and made him extremely believable. I was also pleasantly surprised that even Richard Gere acted really well considering he wasn't in a chick flick like Chicago, he also had a great Irish accent. The thing that's clever about this film is I really liked The Jackal, because of how serious he seems but still delivers a comical attribute in his own unique way. If your lucky enough to see this for the first time look out for The Jackal's huge dominating sniper, this has to be the greatest sniper I've ever seen. It apparently fires 100 bullets before the first bullet even hits its target. Thankfully this tremendous film had a really good ending that really keeps you on the edge of your seat, with great dramatic tension. But overall I would recommend this film to anyone who wants to be entertained from start to finish; it's without a doubt another must-see. By the way if someone wants to try the aim on a huge gun, and they ask you to run around like a headless chicken, don't ever do it because the outcome will be numerous holes all around your body.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
This unbelievable masterpiece will live on in the history of greatest films ever produced!
This unbelievable masterpiece will live on in the history of greatest films ever produced! I consider the film to set a new level of special effects that probably no other film could emulate. Every battle scene is a gob smacker to the wide open eyes of everyone that has the pleasure to see one of the greatest films ever. The only criticism in the whole film is sometimes its so dream like, (I know the genre is fantasy), and also there is about 5 different endings which by the end really drag on and are quite cheesy at times. Also as you will notice the film is far far far too long to sit in comfort, but that's far enough of the bad points and there is really no other negative point of the whole production. The third one of the trilogy really ends it in a way that no one could do any better. I have seen loads of films in my time that have many amazing special effects but none really compare to this spectacular third instalment. The 3 Best Main trilogy's ever are The Matrix, Lord of the Rings and The Terminator, but as a huge Matrix fan I personally consider The Matrix to collect the gold medal followed by Lord of the Rings collecting Silver and finally The Terminator collecting bronze, but of course all three are completely stunning. But a few final words of advice be prepared to see one of the longest films in recent years, but trust me it's damn sure worth every second, so God Bless The Lord of the Rings!!!.
