Laughable piece of s**t!
21 May 2022
I've been reading reviews that say this guy knows he's making "camp" films these days and I just gotta say, I don't buy it one bit. This guy thinks he's making deep high art and he's making some grand statement about aging or whatever. While I won't spoil it, the ending proves otherwise when he tries to wrap it up. This movie is just bad. It is laughably bad but not in the good way. I KNEW I shouldn't waste my time with this nonsense but old M. Night got me again. The real shocking twist is why do I keep watching this guys self indulgent CRAP.

I love that general audiences went to this and got pissed. You won't be able to make them see the art for much longer.

I'll get called pretentious and snobby. That's okay. It's the truth. We don't have much time left of films like this getting a budget like this. This film was able to get a wide release and had podunk idiots going to see it thinking Keaunu Reeves was going to save models with Kung-Fu. I'm glad those people got tricked. I'm glad they spent their money on a night out seeing a Refn film. This won't happen much anymore so when it does let's celebrate the fact that maybe ONE person accidentally saw this and wanted to make some art.

The Ice Road (2021)

It has good actors in it, but even they don't care. Seen better CGI in my kids Barbie toons from 04'!
1 July 2021
The actors in this probably only agreed to be in it if they were promised only 1 take a scene. The CGI was cut scenes from a PS1 trucker game. I'm not kidding, it's that bad. There is a reason every other review is mentioning it. The opening explosion in the first 5 minutes legit looked like an explosion in the old school cartoon "Reboot" The script is excruciatingly dull with every thing spelled out for any moron this movie is aimed for. What sucks is this isn't a horrible concept for an action film, they just should have spent more than 20 Grand on it. I like Neeson but I've never seen him phone in a flick in this bad.

Columbo: Dagger of the Mind (1972)
Season 2, Episode 4
10/10
Most accurate depiction of London in the 70's I've ever seen!
21 February 2021
How did they get this so right?!? This fish out of water 'Columbo' tale really nailed all the period sets and nuances of the swinging 70's London!! The only thing missing were the Koala Bears!! I swear, you could've had Columbo go to a whole other Continent like France or something to really shake things up, but to put him in London you really have to nail it. And nail it THEY DID!! They did, however, miss the mounted cops on horses, but that's easy to overlook. Great accurate episode, I could smell the 'shrimp on the barbie' just watching it!!

Walkaway Joe (2020)

The adults are some of the best character actors on the planet. So let's let this film rest on the shoulders of some kid who can't act.
3 January 2021
Is this kid the son of some producer or something? This film could have been something halfway decent. It isn't. I knew in the first 15 minutes this kid wasn't right for this role. He's young, and might still have a future in front of him but this was too meaty a role to rest on the shoulders of someone so inexperienced and so obviously not up to the task. He looks and sounds like someone from the Hudson Valley but I'm supposed to buy that this kid is from Louisiana? It's a good enough story, standard run of the mill father/son/mentor picture and I really like these kinds of films, but it's bogged down by a poor lead performance. I don't regret watching it as I'm a huge Morgan/Strathairn fan. Emery is a good actress as well. It's not a bad story, just something that's been done a million times before, and better. Could have benefitted from a better lead.

"Can I get a Mnnn Hmnn!?"
21 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
(SPOILERS!!!) Fantastic episode. I see a lot of hate for Rock on these reviews but I think he's been phenomenal during this season and is actually coming into his character more every episode. Sad to see Glynn Turman's character go. I'm still not over him dying in Gremlins when I was a kid, lol, but I'm glad he's having a great late career resurgence. He absolutely stole every scene he was in during this season and his presence will be missed. Great call backs to previous Coen films in all these seasons, with this episode not disappointing (What's the rumpus?) Millers Crossing is in my top 3 Coen films and as much as this season has borrowed from it, I can't help but think we are going to get an epic homage to Albert Finney's amazing "Danny Boy" scene from that picture. They nailed Gaetano's likeness to Jon Polito, and his right hand man is definitely channeling "The Dane" (J.E. Freeman's character) I'm really enjoying this season and can't wait to see where it goes next! Also a shoutout to the two ladies that are playing complete copycats of John Goodman and William Forsythe's characters from "Raising Arizona" Fantastic work.

The Boys: We Gotta Go Now (2020)
Season 2, Episode 5
9/10
Have the Trumpies shown up yet? Because if anything was overt about this show it isn't now!

Fantastic episode. I suppose it will get run over here soon with GOP idiots once they figure out what it's about. This episode has about the most blatant, in your face metaphors as a piece of media could have but I assume it will still take them a day or two to start throwing up 1 Star reviews on here. Ben Shapiro will have to tell them what it's about and then they'll come clawing. When they get here and read this: Ha!!!

Bad reviews written by idiots that don't get it. This is 70's grindhouse done to perfection.
19 August 2020
This movie wasn't meant for you dumb fools, If you like 70's Grindhouse, Old Eastwood Westerns, Charles Bronson revenge flicks, strap in and have a blast. The rest of you Dum-Dums go watch your 732nd superhero flick. This is pure Grindhouse perfection made for people who dig this kind of stuff. Most of you morons shouldn't be allowed to rate films here.

I thought it was hilarious! Best episode this season, and I've loved them all.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought the weight guessing was brilliant and always love when Susie and Larry go at it. Jeff getting his back at the end finally was great too.

The Righteous Gemstones: Interlude (2019)
Season 1, Episode 5
9/10
An episode a lot of people won't like, but necessary, and superbly acted.
24 September 2019
This episode is sure to have its detractors, but I think it's a superb chapter in this story. Yes this is a flashback episode and puts the events of the story on hold to give a little history into Eli, Baby Billy, but more importantly, Aimee-Leigh (Delightfully fully realized by Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland fame) And that last ones important, why? Because as it turns out Aimee-Leigh was the only one that could keep this family together and truly was more than just a matriarch of a mega-church family, she was also their soul. So far we've seen the reprehensible acts of the sons and daughters of the Gemstone family but didn't quite understand how they got to the low point they've sunk to, when so much of the show focuses on how everyone else thinks they're glorious. It turns out they themselves can probably pinpoint it to when Aimee-Leigh passed. That's why this episode is so important. Also it's great to see how in love Eli was with Aimee-Leigh and how her passing has left him empty with nothing but building the church as a business instead of what gave him the passion in the first place. I've always loved McBride's comedies because of how deep he makes these absurd characters lives. He does highly original stuff and it's a shame his work doesn't get put on the same level as Bill Hader's Barry. I feel like they both do the same concept with McBrides work leaning more toward the comedy with Hader's leaning more toward the drama. I'm rambling, but this is a fantastic episode that a lot of people won't like but if you're really paying attention to the show, will see it's pretty great. Also, jeeze, you don't want to see John Goodman and Walton Goggins chewing up the scenery for a half hour? I would've been sold on that alone, but the fact that Jennifer Nettles might steal the episode from both of them? I think that's high praise indeed for an episode of a show that's pretty much just the three of them and some child actors. Watch it objectively and you won't be disappointed!

Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
Season 5, Episode 1
9/10
Very different episode, yet still vintage Black Mirror
5 June 2019
I liked this episode and the way it made you think about how relationships will be tackled in an increasingly "Virtual World" I see a lot of hate for it already but I really don't know why, Black Mirror always has made you think about the future implications of technology, and this episode is no different. I'm thinking because the end isn't a cold hearted stab through the gut that fans of the classic episodes seem to love. I love those episodes too, but to have such a completely nihilistic point of view of the future would be just like some edgy college students philosophy finals paper. Starting with "San Junipero" and the following seasons "Hang The DJ" Brooker has softened a bit and shown some of the ways true love will be attained in a future ruled by technology, and maybe his age. Some could look at this episode and say it fits right in there with those two but I'm not so sure. I think it's saying that maybe no matter what direction the future takes us in, parts of it that effect our relationships are sure to be weird. Great episode.
