Evil Things (2017)
Mockumentary. The "real" people are also played by actors
The stories are cheesy. A few of the stories are urban legends or rip offs from other sources, shows, and movies.
One example is from the movies, "the eye". A Girl gets into an accident and recieves an eye transplant, she starts seeing ghosts. It's been done, multiple times.
I was watching the first couple of episodes and thought, "wow the real life people are more attractive than the actors portraying them. Why don't they just portray themselves?" So I looked it up. Oh wait, they are also actors. They have 2 actors playing both the "real person" telling the story, and the re enactment actor.
So not only are the stories cheesy and rip offs, they are also mockumentaries.
Joahamyeon Ullineun (2019)
A lot of KDramas end after 1 season. This one should have.
Season one was great and ended on a cliffhanger, it should have been resolved and ended right there. Reading the reviews it looks like most people do not like the second season.
I understand they were trying to send a message in season two. Don't trust technology, listen to what your heart and mind are trying to tell you, I get it but we still don't like the ending.
Jojo and Sun-oh should have ended up together. Season one was full of love and passion, they were cute together. The first season had a lot of promise.
Season two, every episode is full of doubt and negativity. I kept watching to see when it was going to pick up, It didn't. It was depressing and had a completely different vibe than season one.
There didn't seem to be any romantic chemistry between Jojo and hye-yeong they just seem like very good friends. It made for a very blah and disappointing season 2.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Started strong the first 2 seasons then flop in seasons 3&4
I originally gave this show a rating of 8, the first season was creepy and mysterious. In season 3 the story started going downhill and in season 4 it just burned. Season 4 was awful and felt very rushed. Some things made no sense and a lot of things were left unanswered. Then whatever was left was just chopped up into tiny pieces and scattered. The last half of the series was horrible.
Sublime (2007)
I fell asleep, that is how scary it was.
I bought Sublime for $2.50 at the Canadian Dolarama and that is where it should stay. The actors did a great job but the story itself just drug. It starts off with George's 40th birthday party. He has to go in the next morning for a routine colonoscopy. He and his yuppie friends are chatting about the dangers of unnecessary surgeries and insurance scams. What do you know, the same thing happens to George, shocking! There was a mix up in the OR. He got a procedure to reduce sweaty palms, which goes Horribly wrong, Of course. He wakes up, dozing in and out of consciousness. There are a bazillion flash backs. The story is yo-yo-ing back and forth. Things just seem to get worse for Poor George. The evil doctors, the hot nurse who works in 3 inch high stilletos, (because you know nurses where sexy heels to work those long shifts) he is suspicious about his wife being faithful and unhappy, everyone is just out to get him. I tried not falling asleep a second time and when it was finally over I have no idea why I watched the rest of it. Also, the filmmakers POV review ha ha! 10/10, not biased at all. The set was good, the acting was good, the script was just the worst.
Mulan (2020)
Not to be compared to the animated version.
The Animated Mulan is my all time favorite Disney. This Mulan, is a very different movie. A more serious, action packed movie. If you watch it with an open mind and don't compare it to the animated version, It is a good movie. The actors did a great job, the scenery was beautiful, the story was okay. There isn't any singing or Mushu. To me it was slightly better than average but the original will always be better.
To me it was not worth the $35 for early access. I could have waited until it becomes available to all disney plus subscribers in December.
The Maid's Room (2013)
Why did I watch this??
The reviews on here are mixed, half are saying it is one of the best thrillers out there. The other half say it is garbage. I'm with the second half. I wish I had stopped watching half way through. The story starts out pretty well and catches your interest but about half through it really starts to head downhill. It seems like this story could have been told in a 25 minute tv episode.
Most Dangerous Game (2020)
Amazing show!
If you are considering subscribing to quibi, I would just for this show alone. It seems more like a movie than a show if you watch all of the 10 minute episodes in one sitting. Liam Hemsworth and Cristoph Waltz both give great performances. The story is great. It is very action fast paced and leaves you wanting more. I would have paid to see this in theaters. It is worth the watch.
Stay Out Stay Alive (2019)
Not the best and not the worst.
The ratings on here for this movie are either very positive or very negative. Honestly I think it is just okay. I gave it a 6 really I would give it a 5.5 if I could.
The acting is decent, the story is okay. For a horror movie, I didn't find it even the slightest bit creepy or scary. I would describe it more as a thriller. It did keep me watching to find out what happens in the end, which I didn't really care for. It was just okay.
I Am Not Okay with This (2020)
Awesome show but too short
The story is great, well written. The characters are perfect but the first season is so short with seven 20 minute episodes, you can binge watch the whole series in one evening. You feel like you are just seeing an introduction. There are so many unanswered questions.
1st Summoning (2018)
The crackling noise is unbearable
I thought it sounded like someone gently shaking a package of tic tac,s until I read the reviews on here. The sound itself probably lowered the rating from 5 to 3. The acting wasn't bad, the story however was dragging and nothing special. That noise though, it makes you wish this was a VHS so you could pull it out of the VCR and stomp it to bits.
Wake Up (2019)
I thought it was okay better than the horrible reviews
It was a decent okay movie, not the best not the worst. Not worth paying to see in a theater but good enough to watch on your living room tv. I don't think it deserves all the negative reviews on here though. It wasn't bad it kept my interest, it just wasn't the best.
Spoiler- John Doe's name turns out to be Michael Winslow. Michael Winslow, the police academy, space balls, human sound effects, beat box machine??? I know names in movies are fiction and not related to any persons, living or dead, etc.
Still, Michael Winslow?? That gave me a laugh.
The Mummy (2017)
Sorry Tom I love ya but wasn't feeling ya
The story is okay the special effects are great. I just wasn't feeling Tom cruise as the lead. I am a fan of his (who isn't) but the role didn't seem to suit him at all. I understand they wanted a big A list name to bring in the cash at the box office. Sorry Tom, you just seemed out of place here.
Shazam! (2019)
Shockingly good.
It wasn't what I expected. It is a funny, happy, family feel good movie with a cute happy ending. The cast is fun to watch. Zachary Levi plays the super hero well, smoulder and all, Mark strong does a great job he is always one of my favorite villains.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Doesn't follow the story of the other movies
If you are a fan of the original x men movies and expect the prequels to follow that story. You will be super disappointed, like I was. They kill of a major character who is alive in the other movie, that take place later. How does this make any sense!?? I spent most of the movie trying to figure that out. I really regret wasting my money to see this. On a positive note, Sophie Turner did do a great job as Jean Grey.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019)
Fun for adults too
I haven't even seen all of the first one and wasn't expecting anything but it was surprisingly super funny. They sneak in enough adult humor to keep the adults entertained and it also has a good story. Lots of Adult humor that makes you think, "What, can they do that!?" It's way over the kids heads, so I guess they can. I heard more adults laughing than kids in the theater. Lots of dancing that keeps the little ones entertained too. My kids 3 and 6 both loved it. It is a good movie for the whole family.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
It's an amazing story. Not just a horror
I just finished watching this series for a second time and can't wait for another season. Watching it again I noticed a lot of little details I missed the first time watching it. This story is very well written every character every has so much depth to them you can watch this show multiple times paying attention to just one character and still notice new things. I am familiar with all the different movies and versions of the hill house story, they are all different but this one to me is the best version. Now I would like to read the book.
Go! Vive a Tu Manera (2019)
Yes, it is a teen Drama but a good one.
Protagonist Mia is trying to live her dreams and follow her heart. She is charismatic and spreading her positive, bubbly, go getter energy, among her fellow students. She wants everyone to be happy and follow their dreams. With the typical mean girl always trying to bring her down. It has the usual teen crushes and romance drama. For kids it sends a positive message. Overcome obstacles and follow tour heart.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Doesn't follow the story of the other movies
If you are a fan of the original x men movies and expect the prequels to follow that story. You will be super disappointed, like I was. I really regret wasting my money to see this. On a positive note, Sophie Turner did do a great job as Jean Grey.
Brightburn (2019)
It was predictable
The idea was good, what if superman landed on earth and instead of being good was evil. Not the hero the villain. The story was pretty predictable and not at all surprising. To me it didn't seem like there was much to the story.
Us (2019)
It was ok
It was more creepy than weird. I didn't care for the story. The acting was good Lupita Nyongo, did an amazing job.
Lucifer (2016)
Thank you Netflix!!
Season 1 and 2 were good, season 3 was okay not too great but season 4, wow! I think it is the best season yet. I'm so glad Netflix brought new life into this show and I hope there will be a season 5 in the future. Tom Ellis is such an amazing actor, he is very entertaining to watch. He shows emotion so well, you really feel for Lucifer.
