Mike Epps: Don't Take It Personal (2015)
Dog fighting?!?! Really?!
I kept waiting for his performance to get better. It never did.
Where he lost me forever was his advocating for dog fighting!!!! WTAF??!?!
To my knowledge he has never apologized or walked back his stance on the most reprehensible crime against animals. He should never be allowed near a microphone again. SHAME ON MIKE EPPS!!! He is one of the worst people on the planet!
He tried to say that dog fighting is the unofficial sport of the Midwest. Anyone who engages in this horrible practice should maroon themselves alone on a deserted sandbar forever.
I hope he finally gets cancelled, because he deserves it.
Don't waste your time watching this "special." It is anything but. My time would have been better spent by watching grass grow. It would have been infinitely more entertaining and certainly less upsetting.

Mikey and Nicky (1976)
Cheering for insufferable misogynistic narcissist's death
I could not wait for John Cassavetes's character to be murdered. I don't think I've looked forward to a character's death as much as Cassavetes's.
His character had zero redeeming qualities and was basically a lesson on how to be intolerable.
Peter Falk's character was more likable.
The story is meant to be a character study and show the relationship between Falk and Cassavetes, but Cassavetes's character doesn't develop during the movie. He's terrible at the beginning and worse at the end. Falk's character is the underdog caring for someone who cares only for himself. I liked his character better by the end of the movie. I was glad he stood up for himself against Cassavetes's character and continued to stand his ground and didn't cave to the attempted guilt trip by Cassavetes. The story shows the power imbalance in their friendship until Cassavetes does something unforgivable and Falk finally had enough.
The entire story is as follows: Cassavetes whines a lot, he demonstrates his narcissistic manipulation and abuse of the women in his life, there's some sexual assault, there's a couple of physical altercations, the underdog ends the abusive friendship, Beatty is mostly an incompetent and hapless man hunter, and the bad guy gets it in the end. Cheers all around; close curtain.
The editing of the movie is barely high school-level. The dialogue is trite. No one says anything that hasn't already been said in a plethora of other movies. There isn't anything unique about this movie. Unless you enjoy seeing a horrible person's murder, don't waste your time.
Theodora Goes Wild (1936)
BEWARE! Animal cruelty.
A black cat's tail is slammed in a door. It obviously is real based on the panic and pain exhibited by the poor animal.
Also, it is highly unlikely that Mervyn Douglas's character would thank Irene Dunne's character for tanking his father's career, not to mention the governor's.
She becomes a bit insufferable by the end of the movie.
It seems to be a good movie at the start, but it lost me as soon as the cat was tortured in an attempt at a laugh. It happens about halfway through the movie.
There are too many old movies that mistreated the poor animals unfortunate enough to find themselves on film sets.
It's a Dog's Life (1955)
Warning! Animal cruelty!
Even though the fights aren't shown on camera there is still animal cruelty.
First of all, I have to tell you that the only reason I watched this film is because of Jeff Richards. I wish I hadn't. His character is the worst of the worst without a single redeeming quality. Also, he holds Wildfire in the air by the tail for an extended period of time. Back then, many people didn't know how damaging that could be to a dog, but we know now, so it's horrible to see. I'm terribly disappointed in Jeff Richards for his involvement in this movie. I hope the only reason he did it was because he didn't have a choice for some reason.
The only reason I gave this movie two stars instead of one is because it had a nice sappy ending. However, it isn't nearly good enough to watch this movie. Do yourself a favour and watch something else. I wish I had.
The Return of Bulldog Drummond (1934)
Warning: animal cruelty
The dialogue is inaudible. I had to watch it with subtitles, but even the person who transcribed this movie had a hard time discerning what the actors were saying.
A dog is forced to go through a live electric fence, and yowls when it's electrocuted. It's a brief but horrific scene.
The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch (2020)
More science less security dragon.
On one of the episodes, head of security nicknamed "Dragon" complained that "I don't get an opinion because I'm not a Ph. D."
Well yes Dragon, you can have an opinion, but no one cares about it. He is constantly discussing his "thoughts" with the viewer. Just stop.
This show has great potential, but we need to see more of the scientific and video evidence, and hear the opinions and hypotheses from the actual scientists. The animal behaviourist's opinions are also valid. No one else should be speaking unless they're currently experiencing phenomena, or describing something they've experienced. For example, showing the staff members' phones operating on their own is fascinating. Hearing what non-educated people think about the phenomena is not.
Every single other paranormal show ever made has featured average (and some not-so-average) people discussing their experiences. It's been done to death. The #HistoryChannel has a real opportunity to provide scientific evidence of paranormal activity with actual scientists showing measurable and visual results. This should be the show's focus, because it appears there is an abundance of this evidence, and real scientists who can interpret their findings.
Allowing an uneducated security guard to have a say in any of the proceedings is ridiculous. The scientists are more than qualified to evaluate the safety of any actions taken on the ranch. Dragon doesn't have a reason to be on camera, so stop giving him things to do. He acts like he is in charge of deciding highly educated people's actions, and being "the voice of reason." It's really stupid, so just stop.
Pink Flamingos (1972)
Animal torture and murder
I am giving this movie a star one star rating because of the graphic torture and murder of a chicken on film. This scene was kept in the movie, and the torturous death of the chicken is fully visible throughout the scene. Also, there is the sound of the chicken's muffled squawking in pain as blood is visible while the chicken is injured and killed.
