I never saw a movie with such a power and such a beauty. If you want to confront yourself with fundamental topics, don't miss it, they are no word to describe the experience this movie give. It doesn't matter if you are a person without spiritual interests or with them. This will only change the color of your experience, but not the power, because it is not a movie about religion, but about our conscience and about love in a very profound meaning of this word. And yes, also about God, if you are a believer. And about faith for everyone, because faith is part of our live, faith in our ideas, convictions etc. The movie is perfect, its beauty is breathtaking. Is is a masterpiece of Scorsese, the actors are all good, in particular the Japanese Traitor, Neeson, Driver and Garfield. The visual and acoustic experience is amazing. It is unique. Why it has only one Oscar nominee is not a mystery, it reflects the current time we are living in.

intelligent funny adrenaline-charged entertainment

I loved this movie! Two hours without flaws. It is pure entertainment, but smart. I agree with the reviewer who said it doesn't let you feel an idiot. It is a great action movie, but with a very enjoyable touch of comedy, with many moments with humor. CGI top-notch, it never degrades tawdry. It is a science-fiction movie with a nice female hero, well played by Blunt (as usual, she is a guarantee in a movie), who is not backing somebody else. This is very refreshing. It is not a "Cruise-movie", even if he acts good, so do Paxton and Glesson. Director and writers did this movie, together with the actors, the cgi, the score and, very important, the editing and the cutting of the movie. It is a great entertainment movie not to be missed by action and sci-fi lovers!

A great movie, with wonderful actress and actor, soft, funny, intelligent and deeper as it seems apparently. If you pay attention the flick will let you think upon many things and, in any case, you will leave the theater in a good and serene mood not only in your mind, but also in your heart. Very refreshing!!! Luchini is excellent (as always) in his wonderful character. He recognize the opportunity to change his life and he seize it on. Today maybe it is hard to imagine that a rich man can show that kind of interest for people of a such different social condition. But in the Sixties sometimes that could happen, the social dehumanization was not so advanced like today, in spite of all the contradictions of those years, which are very well represented. Very good also Kiberlain as his wife. She is perfect in her attitude as snooty new rich. The whole cast of the movie and especially the Spanish women are simply great: they show how a change was urgently requested, at that time... and let us understand, today also!

Mystic River (2003)
why people do movies like those???

Warning: Spoilers
I agree with a commentary from Japan: this movie is unacceptable, because it tells of a murderer without calling him really what he is, I repeat: a murderer. Robbins did a great work (he is the best of the whole cast) for a potential great character, but at the end he is only a murdered loser, not more, sic!!! The flick in some points is not bad, meanwhile good, bad the end simplify all in so a dreadful way, that eventually it isn't good. Linney's character should have been extensively enlarged, whereas she is only a "deus ex machina". If you resist this moral adjustment (including also the detective) , you can maybe think upon how it is possible that criminals live among us loving their families etc. and upon the devastating consequences of sexual violence (children and women!), but the lot of uncritical praises this movie had earned is a sign of the moral level of our society. In the novel the detective promise to Celeste to pursue the murderer. In the movie this is said in so an ambiguous manner that eventually it is canceled. And this is unforgivable Mr. Eastwood! For this reason, also the outrageous indifference towards the victims will shock you, but only an instant, then you will forget. Eastwood nearly always deals with important topics, that are not often chosen from directors, and he knows his job as filmmaker, but this is a reason more, not to do flick lick this!!!
