Roswell (1999–2002)
Better than Buffy - A diamond show - Too few seasons
14 March 2004
When Roswell first started being broadcast around 2000, I deliberately boycotted it, dismissing it as the usual Buffy/Dawsons Creep garb, but that it aint. It takes the subject matter that was in every good X-Files ep - Aliens and flips the entire perspective. Although the cast are 20 yr olds playing 16 yr olds, school is not over-killed as the main location filmed as in buffy. It has adventure, mystery and much much sharp humour, set off by first class acting. I loved every single character in their own way: Valenti - Cos he's supposed to be the baddy, but he's funny and lovely Kyle - Cos the episode where Max and Kyle get drunk is the best ever and he's hillarious Max - Cos he's the guy I want to be... Quiet, thoughtful, wise and sexy to women Michael - Cos he's the rebel in us all, but he has a heart of gold really Isabel - cos she is sexy and lovely And the guy in the UFO centre - I forget his name - I hope he is in seasons 2 and 3 more. Its strange the way I was drawn to this show in the same way as buffy - With Buffy it was Eliza Dushku and with Roswell it was Katherine Heigl. But I never expected it to be this good. I cant get it out of my head, it fires the imagination, but Im deeply sad that the show is no longer being made. Its strange, because it so completely passed me by four years ago and it didnt have the HUGE following it deserved... it had a loyal cult. But watching it now on DVD, it feels like it was only just made and I have to keep reminding myself that it is four years old and there are only two more seasons worth of Eps to savour. However crass this is going to sound, if any one concerned with the making of the show is humble enough to read the comments on imdb.com, please reinstate the show in the near future. You know it makes sense! Its a valuable piece of our pop culture and its not too late to keep it going and expand on it! Thats all

7 January 2004
Comedy doesnt need a budget Often Budgets Kill the comedy Adam and Joe kill me with laughter What happened to their homemade show? That Louise guy playing the star trek song on his casio and the jazz queens... and the getting p***ed in a brewery and the eating the percentage free bits in a cornershop... it was all so so so good. Spot on lads. Hope you read this.... and if you every do a new series.... take the mick out of devonians more, like you did with those hooded characters. Or were they meant to be Bristolians?
