Hibhage (2023)
A Lot of Fun!
I absolutely loved this series! I am a huge K-drama fan, and in fact that is mostly what I watch. This had so many great elements - fantasy/supernatural, comedy, drama, family friendship, a great "whodunit", and even a very subtle romance, which was great and a nice break from the other romance k-dramas.
Han Ji-min was just great in her role at Ye-bun, and Lee Min-ki plays those serious guy roles so well, (loved him in Because This is My First Life, and now a huge fan of his!) Others were great, too, especially Joo Min-Kyung as Ok-hui - we all need a fierce friend like her! And the ending was perfect. In fact, it sort of left it open for a 2nd season, but I know k-dramas rarely do more than one season, sadly.
King Deo Raendeu (2023)
A fun, feel-good and enjoyable rom-com!
Like some others here, I simply cannot understand the low rating, and I, too, feel like there was something else prompting those low scores.
This is a delightful series. The two leads have great chemistry and play their parts so well. The friendships of the three women, the support Sa-rang gets from the staff (eventually), the loyalty both Won and Sa-rang have for one another is so delightful. Some very funny moments, and a few silly ones too, but it was all in good fun.
Aside from the sister who was one of the coldest and saddest souls, even the father wasn't too terrible. I expected him to get nastier, but liked how they treated his character.
But most of all I loved how Won and Sa-rang never gave up on each other, which is typical in most K-dramas. The strength of their love, support and respect for one another was so refreshing. I would like to see more like this, and I hope the creators do not let these questionable low ratings deter them from coming up with more lovely stories like Kind the Land. In fact, I would to see a sequel about Hotel Amor!
