I found this movie almost an insult to intelligence.
It had none of the real wit and humour of Indiana nor the suspense which had me jumping in my seats in other films. It reminded me slightly of The Mummy which at least did not try to be anything other then a horror/comedy kid flick.
I went with friends at their request. I wish I had not. It struck me as little more then American propaganda. Why should the treasure be hidden from just the English, surely it was necessary to hide it from anyone who would try to benefit from it, I mean we have Hitler who was known for stealing art works, Mussolini was hardly a nice character either? How did it come to be in the hands of a bunch of Americans anyway when the Freemasons and the Knights Templar were of European origin? That was really implausible, if it were in the keeping of the Knights Templar and then the Freemasons it would of been hidden somewhere in Europe.
When sconces which are generally oil or tar based (ie resin from pine trees) fired up at the slightest touch of a flame I groaned. After 200 odd years the oils would have evaporated not to mention the wood rotting away. I am generally pretty good at suspending belief but that really annoyed me. Not to mention that boats trapped in ice tend to be crushed and sink when the ice melts. Just study what happened to boats in the Antarctic on some of the expeditions there.
I am sure the teeny boppers and kids will enjoy it but I would not recommend it to anyone.
