Boring from beginning to end.
19 May 2024
Boring movie. Boring script. Boring acting. Boring pseudo philosophy. Like a Neil breen movie but not even unintentionally funny. Makes the Conan movies look like Oscar bait. And the martial arts bits are just as lame. I don't think there was a single actor in the film that had a single day of martial arts training. How hard is it to throw a kick? If this movie was made today it would be a will Ferrell / John c Reilly comedy. 170 more characters to go but what else is there to say. Can't believe anyone genuinely liked this. It's just mean to recommend this movie. It's a complete waste of time.

Bait and switch.
19 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The bait and switch was inevitable. Setup something supernatural, including shots from the POV of the audience, only to pull the rug at the end. And the links to season 1 added up to nothing. Girl boss, girl power, girl revenge scooby doo episode with an Inuit twist. Who was the intended audience for this? The basic plot could've work, but when you try to shoehorn in tropes for the mythical modern audience you get the inevitable mess. And at the end we find out that the guilty party/parties that kicked off the whole investigation are really the avenging heroes who are allowed to skate free because, after all, they are women, and can do no wrong.

Wildly overrated
2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this because it's on a lot of list of scariest movies but it wasn't scary at all. And none of it makes sense. It seemed the writer/director had a bunch of unrelated ideas and just threw them all in the movie without any context. Does anyone actually know what the orbs were? Or why they're in the movie? Is this sci fi or horror? Is the tall man from another planet where he needs slaves or is he a supernatural being that been around forever like the old photo suggests. And then the ending comes out of nowhere. It's actually a pretty terrible movie.

Just good enough
1 January 2022
Giving this one the most modest recommendation because at least Mads is in it. Plot is simple enough, which is good, but the A team of assassins are the worst assassins ever. The setup at the end for a sequel relies on the most unbelievable coincidence but if Mads is in it it will still be watchable.

Couldn't get through it.

Main character is so irritating that I couldn't finish watching. What else is there to say? Just stupid people making stupid decisions and then stupidly reacting when their stupid decisions get stupid results. And that was just the first half.

Interesting premise
12 November 2021
I enjoyed it more as a hangout movie than a drama. It has an interesting premise but in the end I wasn't sure what , if anything, the movie was trying to say. Some of it is probably lost in translation and subtitles have a way of disguising bits that maybe were intended to be funny. I expect there will be an English remake sooner or later and I'll definitely check it out.

Loved it. But on further review...
9 November 2021
Loved this movie. It's a trippy thriller with ghosts and a great soundtrack. Even managed to surprise me in the end. Definitely worth seeing in the theater.

Update: downgraded to a 7 outta 10 because when I saw that it would be available to stream in November I wasn't excited about seeing it again. The scenes with ATJ enjoying the swinging 60s London club scene, and then that becoming a bit of a nightmare, are well worth the watch and I will watch it again just for that and the soundtrack. But the rest of the movie is sorta average. Still good though.

Weirdly decent

Violent but goofy...then goofy...and then violent. Not great throughout but some good Mads scenes and even the goofy stuff was OK. Just seemed like two different movies happening at once. And maybe a little too much philosophizing.

Exactly what I expected in a good way
27 October 2021
Good looking, fast paced movie with good fight choreography and a simple story. Basically, a female John wick. If not for a little too much sentimentality and a plot twist you can see coming from the start I would have given it an even higher score. Keep your expectations low and your gratitude high and you'll enjoy this one.

Even dumber than the last
25 October 2021
The characters in this movie are so dumb I was rooting for Michael Myers by the end. There is no law that says horror movies have to be dumb but everyone involved with this movie, or at least the script, should hang their heads in shame for writing such a stupid script. At some point you would think the writers would ask the question , "why is this character doing this?". Literally no one in this movie acts like a human or makes choices that a human would make. We the audience know going in that we'll have to suspend our disbelief but it gets progressively harder when the movie keeps treating you like a moron. And in the end, this movie turns out to be a 1h:45m, not at all scary, setup for yet another sequel.

Disappointing.
1 October 2021
Sopranos fans might get some enjoyment from the fan service but the movie as a whole is disappointing. Some of the actors are just doing impressions of well known characters and sometimes literally quoting the series. The Dickie Moltasanti storyline doesn't really add much to the sopranos mythology and in at least one case detracts from it. It also doesn't really work as a tony soprano origin story. The whole thing is kinda unfocused and without any thread to hold it together.
