28 Days Haunted (2022)
OMG!!! The cringiest show ever!
They immediately try to capture your attention with the names of Ed and Lorraine Warren, but as soon as the teams arrive at the locations where the drama (a.k.a. Comedy) unfolds and start to open their mouths, you soon realize this is going to be a show that will make "Long Island Medium" look as good as "Breaking Bad".
Every single member of the several teams looks and sounds as credible as a snake oil salesman, and all of them seem like they were picked up at a truck stop in Branson, Missouri.
It's so bad that the background music, instead of accentuating the non existent suspense, somehow makes everything even more comical.
I'm not giving it a one star rating only because it can be watched as a sort of "Blair Witch bloopers" kind of thing, and some might find that entertaining. Not me, though...
Persuasion (2022)
A complete and utter mess
Having the impression that Bridgerton formula could be adapted everywhere, Netflix decided to defile one of the most beautiful books of the early 1800's, modernizing it to an extent where it is no longer recognizable.
The sort of character assassination that was perpetrated on Anne Elliot should be matter for a court of law to analyze.
I don't give it one star because I think youngsters who never heard of or read Jane Austen will probably enjoy this "pseudo historical Gossip Girl wannabe", but the rest of humanity can only watch and cry, longing for the now forgotten glorious days of fabulous Jane Austen adaptations.
If this is what Netflix is bringing from now on, I'm soon going to engorge the statistics of subscription cancelations.
Resident Evil (2022)
Just one question...
What the heck were you thinking?!?!?
The 2020's are fast becoming the "let's ruin another franchise" decade.
The acting, the dialogues, the plot (if it has one, I don't know),... OMG!
This is enough to earn Netflix a ton of well deserved subscription cancelations.
And, yes... It's THAT bad.
Black Mirror (2011)
Absolutely fabulous
This is absolutely one of the best TV series I've been watching for years.
Too bad that each season is surprisingly short on number of episodes.
Great work! And also great acting, overall.
A must see!
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Cool special effects... And that's pretty much it!
Well, not only is the flagship of the Federation oddly run by fresh from the academy kids (something the previous series managed to avoid), but they're also filled to the top with their special little dramas.
The first season was pretty watchable, but this second season is next to impossible to watch, especially for a Star Trek diehard fan.
Special effects were brought to the next level, but the message of political correctness overpowers the entire show, to the extent that the message and plot are entirely lost.
This could very well be the XXIV century adaptation of Grey's Anatomy meets Glee, and would certainly applaud it if it was named after those shows.
Dark (2017)
Yes, it's German! And yes... it's astonishing!
It took me a long time to decide to watch this series. I just couldn't get over the fact that it was in German and it just didn't feel right to the ears.
Anyway, just last week I finally started seeing it and it's so damn good! The plot is very dense and you have to keep recalling the several pieces of the puzzle as you go along, but it's really worth it.
Give it a try as I did and you'll be happily surprised.
Warrior Nun (2020)
Actually quite entertaining!...
At first, I was kind of scared that the series would evolve into a stupid teen drama, but fortunately it got quite exciting and the plot got better and better.
I truly hope it gets a second season, because I'm sure everything will get improved (plot, characters' complexity, environment, and so on).
Thumbs up for Toya Turner and Lorena Andrea for their stunning performances!
Cursed (2020)
Yeesh!!!
This is not a series! It's a 21st century political statement placed in 4th century Britain that completely subverts the Arthurian legend. Not only that, it's also poorly written, badly performed and just plain boooooooring!
You'll be more excited watching a snail race in slow motion.
Skip!
