Inferno (2016)
Dante's prophecy of apocalypse
This is not a comparative review between the novel and the movie. This movie is definitely not as good as its predecessor "Angels and Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code" but overall pace of the movie is good.
This time Robert Langdon(Tom Hanks) is involved in a mystery which will require the knowledge of Dante's Inferno, which he is well-versed with, to solve the mystery at hand.
The theme of the story relates with the present issues of the world from global warming to over-population, and created a reasonable plot for the story. The antagonist in the movie is a character so strong in his beliefs that he will do anything to pursue his/her goal (just like any villain of majority story).
As Langdon's pursuit goes forward he decipher one clue to another with the help of a younger apprentice Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones). During this quest Langdon also realizes the bigger picture and involvement of international agencies in it and how big the stakes are. He tries to save the world from the disaster which will result in fall of humanity.
P.S. : This movie is toned down and less thrilled version of "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons".
Westworld: The Stray (2016)
The entire truth haven't been told yet
Start of the episode led to the beginning of a new day, tracing back to the staged story line of Dolores(Evan Rachel Wood) in the 1st episode and again reminding audience of how virtual yet real this world seems.
William (Jimmi Simpson) is getting involved in the adventures of Westworld indicating the need of this park in the actual world. On the other hand a new story-line has been added to the world for which Teddy Flood (James Marsden) is going to play a critical role; and it is designed by Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) himself.
The highlight of this episode was for sure the introduction of the idea that consciousness was indeed the part of early design of droids, this element is going to be expanded more in the future and has quite a depth. As we have witnessed in the last two episodes; the anomaly in bots is somehow related to consciousness, and only future will tell how it is related.
Westworld: Chestnut (2016)
Everything in this world is magic, except the magician.
In this episode, they have expanded more upon idea everyone questioning from the 1st, how do the guests come in the park and why this park is required in the first place. This episode's story-line focuses on the concept of west-world from the perspective of a new guest and detailing out the answer for first question, for the second question's answer was more subtle and focus on the new guests curiosity and the answer to be revealed at latter period.
The story-line is developing steadily on the human-like consciousness in droids of the park, in a way promising a deep and adventurous proceedings. The Anthony Hopkins's character is full of gravity and viewers will be curious to know about him more, on the other hand Ed Harris's character is full of suspense and shows a glimpse of the idea that without consequences what a man can do.
Westworld: The Original (2016)
It is original yet artificially intelligent
The pilot of this series lived up-to expectations, with a nice set-up of theme park and well established characters within the theme park, who follow normal repetitive daily routine in the theme park with minor changes everyday.
The show gives viewer a perspective of normal old school western world in the beginning, only to bring out the sci-fi element swiftly in the story. At the beginning the sci-fi element seems quite normal, justifying the theme-park element of the story. But, eventually the pilot elaborated more on sci-fi element and gave audience a slight hint of self-developed instincts in some of the characters.
This show with its unique representation is going to dwell into different aspects of human behavior in conjunction with artificial intelligence. And will also elaborate on the philosophical as well as psychological outlook of human nature and its consequences.
