The Innkeepers (2011)
Love Ti West
People who have reviewed this movie with a negative rating like a 1 or 2 stars really make me nervous about our society in general. This movie is awesome a true horror movie much like his previous film, "The House of the Devil". If you love and appreciate horror movies of the past this movie is a real throwback just like House. I freaking loved this movie. The tension just builds and builds and the payoff is great. For anyone too stupid to understand that Ti is taking a direct shot at movies that rely on cheap thrills and CGI (Insidious) or rely on tricks such as hand-held camera (Quarantine)... This movie is no CG no camera tricks just great cinematography and music, suspense, great characters that you actually care about, and scared the shiz out of me too. There is a great scene near the beginning of the movie that they recreate at the end and Ti keeps you on the edge of your seat literally until the credits roll. For anyone who calls this "garbage" or "a waste of 90 minutes" thank you because you are the reason why we have so much bullshat in the theaters right now. You have to have 20 million to make a movie in Hollywood so little gems slip through our fingers for garbage like "The Roommate" or just remaking every movie and ruining it.... A Nightmare on Elm Street, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Let the Right One In, Fright Night, Halloween, the list goes on and on. Ti West is awesome if you are a fan check out House of the Devil and Trigger Man is awesome too. I love that he tried to get his name removed from Cabin Fever 2 and replaced with the pseudonym Alan Smithee because the producers wanted to rewrite and edit his vision. This guy isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in. Reminds me of another one of my favorite directors, Darren Aronofsky, who directed Pi and Requiem for a Dream. He's only recently become famous for The Wrestler and Black Swan but when the movie studios tried to force him to have Nicholas Cage play the now infamous role played by Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, he was willing to give up money and not make the film if he couldn't have the actor he wanted. And look at the result it revived Rourke's career and made Darren famous.
Grave Encounters (2011)
Pretty Dang Good
Well well well. This little gem is better than half the shiz that comes out in theaters. Yes I'm talking about you The Rite and Insidious. Even though it's a little rip off of Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, I really enjoyed this movie. If you like those Ghost Hunter type reality shows then this movie is pretty funny until about the 45 minute mark. Then the shiz hits the fan. And it hits it hard. I thought the CGI in this movie was pretty good but kind of wish these movies would stop with all that. I really hated the end of Paranormal Activity with that crappy CGI. Don't watch this one with the lights off or by yourself, or do if you want to be scared real bad.
Black Water (2007)
The scariest animal horror movie ever
The movie black water is a truly terrifying experience. The suspenseful scenes are not to be taken lightly. I don't know if I wasn't ready or what but this one scared me bad. Real bad. I was literally squirming in anticipation of the inevitable which is not something that many movies make me do. The realness of this movie also make it creepy. When I saw the croc the first time I literally got a nerd boner. Thank you Netflix instant for this gem which I never would have found on my own. Anyone who enjoys creature features should not miss this one. Water that is not in a pool will I never go into after this. Not for the faint of heart though. This movie starts a little slow building character development and almost makes you forget you are watching a horror movie... But then. oh then you remember. Oh you remember all right. And after watching black water, you are likely to never forget.
Rogue (2007)
Pretty good. But Black Water is a little Better
Let me say I really enjoyed this movie. Very suspenseful and the story keeps you hooked from start to finish. Im a big creature feature fan. I hate that it took me this long to watch this one. On another note if you liked this watch Black Water. Another terrifying croc movie but I feel even scarier and more importantly more suspenseful. All in all though a great flick that truly deserves the acclaim it has gotten. I will never go on a swamp tour again. I remember my dad taking me on an air boat ride in the Everglades at a young age and our boat broke down. The thing that makes Rogue so scary is it's "realness" factor. I could totally see this happening in real life. Watch this one and then go watch Black Water. They are both true gems
Night of the Demons (2009)
Not scary like the original
The original Night of the Demons was one of my favorite movies growing up. I remember walking through Blockbuster (remember those?) and seeing the VHS box with the demon and the lollipop on the cover. Scared the crap out of me. That is why I was pumped going into this one. Edward Furlong and Monica Keena were actually pretty good. Doing everything they could to keep this stink fest afloat... but god no not Bobbie sue what's her name again!! See my review of Laid to Rest but to put her acting into two words..she sucks dick. Sorry that was three words But hey at least you get to see her tits, albeit briefly, something that lacked in Laid. Shannon Elizabeth also stinks and her acting was only viewable in American Pie where she had one of the greatest nude scenes of all time. But now what. She's too good to get naked? What the fu*k. all cheesy horror movies need 3 things other than the cheese. Good kill scenes, suspenseful moments, and NUDITY. This movie had one of three. a 1 second tit shot (prolly a body double but I didn't want to look online to verify. I'm holding the fantasy they were Bobbie Joe Sucks-a-lot-of-dicks-at-acting's). But i gave it a 4 for nostalgic reasons only. Take my advice. Watch the original demon movies they are sweet and the demons are much scarier than in this one.
Laid to Rest (2009)
Frustrating movie to watch
2 stars only because of the awesome kill scenes. I love horror movies but this one is a real dud. Watched it based on a favorable review on bloody disgusting but the acting in this movie makes The Room look great. Bobbie what's her name was especially painful to watch. If she had shown her tits maybe I would have given a 3. Dude from Con Air tried his best but to no avail. The 10 star reviews on here make me wonder about the human race in general. Maybe the actors are posting on here or these people are retards but I don't get a 7-10 star review on this one. They should be removed from IMDb for wasting real movie fan's time watching garbage like this based on their reviews. Trust me watch the kill clips on you tube or something and save yourself the frustration of watching this movie.
