Paranoid Ideation
The film looks and feels like it could have been good. But, alas, it is not. It trots out all these conspiracies and endeavors to link them together. Some scenes are downright amateur. The politician being interviewed by the journalist, ugh. And, that whole narrative and journalist interview segment should have been cut. Now, for the most part, the acting is good. I thought Orlando Jones was great. We need to see more of him. And, Orlando demonstrates he can be effective in various genres. The writer/director should have had some supervision. Or, perhaps wear less hats on his/her next project. Brandon Victor Dixon as the main protagonist does a fine job.
Hello Tomorrow! (2023)
50's SF pulp fiction gets realized as a series.
I loved this show. It is like an Asimov short story put onto the screen. The actors do a wonderful job. Such a charismatic group. I particularly enjoyed the. Porter couple. He is always willing to drink the Kool-aid but, his wife not so much. The dialogue between the Porters is just precious. So fifties, he often refers to his wife as "Bun Bun." The various machines depicted are such a throw back. I do not think it is a "Tongue in cheek" thing. It is more of a.homage to a by gone era. The laughs are subtle. It is remarkable how the main protagonist, played by the great. Billy. Crudup, constantly and eventually believes his own BS. And, he brings all the others along with him. He does this with charm and guile.
Enjoy

Woke Nonsense
I love Scoot. But this is propaganda. Like Hollywood believes we will not see their political agenda as metaphors.,They look down from their ivory towers. Please...they are not as clever as they think they are. And we, the great unwashed, are not as stupid as they believe we are.

Expected more
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERTS....... I just saw the film in a movie theater. What a treat to see a film in a theater. Anyway, it is lacking that Guy Ritchie feel. What do the best Guy Ritchie films, i.e., "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "Snatch", "RocknRolla" and "The Gentlemen" all have in common? Pithy dialogue, strange and unique characters, great multiple story lines, and Humour! I spelled humor with an "U" to honor our British friends. This is a film that would be an okay Netflix film. I was expecting more. Perhaps the hint is the slew of writers:
Writing Credits
Nicolas Boukhrief ... (written by) and
Éric Besnard ... (written by)
Guy Ritchie ... (screenplay by) &
Marn Davies ... (screenplay by) and
Ivan Atkinson ... (screenplay by)
Often that is a warning. Anyway, I was back in a theater. The movie was not horrible. I had a good time.

Dunkirk (2017)
Not Tied Together Well
The camera work and the acting were spot on great. The music was superb. But, the film did not offer any historical references. How did the army become pinned down? Why was the army stuck at that particular location? Where were their enemies? There was no mention of the three day pause enacted by the Wehrmacht which enabled the Allied forces to escape. Where was the Luftwaffe? A few planes were in the film but no real numbers. So many unanswered questions. This could have been another Patton but better.
Melancholia (2011)
Time I'll never get back.
The first ten minutes were awesome. The last ten minutes were great! But, that long period in between was tedious.
The film had a great cast but the accents differed wildly. Are we to believe these diverse looking and sounding people are all closely related? Things could have been better. The director has talent. I loved Breaking the Waves. I have not given up on Von Trier despite his Canne interview. It will be interesting to see if this film wins any awards. The story takes place at a golf course with a hotel on it. The dysfunctional family and friends are mostly a loathsome bunch. Self obsessed and quarrelsome, why did these people ever gather together is a mystery.
