Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Unbelievably bad
This is possibly the worst film I have ever seen. The most damning thing is that I was just bored, I don't even have the energy to hate it. It was a total mess, all over the place with no real structure. The attempts to reference the Warner Bros back catalog were lame at best, and the handful of decent ones were so old none of the target audience would get them. Truly awful, cringeworthy mess.
Evil Dead (2013)
Wow - nasty, brutal, love it :-)
Like many other reviewers, I really can't understand the bad reviews - this is a quality movie for horror fans. It's dark, scary at times, brutal at others, and pays fair homage to the original in my opinion.
I first saw the original Evil Dead when I was 8 years old secretly hiding behind a sofa in my friends house. That moment defined my love of horror for life. When I saw the trailer for this Evil Dead I was SO excited to see it and it did not disappoint. Having seen many many horror movies from Omen to Martyrs and many obscure movies like August Underground, I can honestly say this is a top notch old school style nasty horror movie. I've seen it twice now and will go back to it again. There are some very scary scenes, the gore scenes are excellent, the sound & music creepy and well timed.
Yes the story has holes in it, the acting is a bit weak, the characters are dumb, but it's a HORROR MOVIE and so much of the genre is like this and good for it. Is it "The most terrifying movie you will ever experience" - definitely not, but it's creepy, nasty and wonderfully horrible. Enjoy!
The Orphan Killer (2011)
Extreme violence, low budget fun flick
Lets be honest here. the acting in this movie is nonexistent. The storyline just doesn't hang together at all, some of the scenes are laughable, the sound quality is awful and the budget looks like it was £100.
However despite that, it is extreme, deranged, fantastically gory and just off it's face! I really enjoyed it just for that. Reviewing this as a "proper" movie just doesn't make sense. Take it for what it is and enjoy the ride. It's just raw and brutal. Full prosthetic head crushing?!! Class.
if you like this you should try A Day Of Violence. An equally bloodsoaked movie from the UK.
