Leverage: Redemption (2021)
It's like coming home again
It's like coming home again, Especially for those of us who are huge fans of the original series, leverage redemption is the perfect continuation and addition to the franchise and to the grifter and leverage family!
These characters are just as lovable, hilarious and purely perfect as they ever were. I know that many may have had hesitation about the return of the series after such a long break but it's almost as though no time has passed for this perfect casting team as they jump right back into these characters with flawless performances all the way around.
I highly encourage you to check it out, Christian Kane (Hitter, Eliot Sprencer), Beth Riesgraf (Parker, thief), Gina Bellman (Sophie Deveraux, Grifter) and Aldis Hodge (Alec Hardison, Hacker), all return in the roles they were born to play and with the chemistry that fans have loved and adored for over a decade. The returning cast is joined by Noah Wiley and Aleyse Shannon, Who slide perfectly into their roles and it almost feels as though they have been there the whole time with the perfect click and fit into this long running series!
The mastermind behind the original first run of the series, Hollywood heavy weight Dean Devlin, And the wonderful Chris Downey, are joined by Kate Roddick and too many names to name! They have come up again with the storylines, guest stars, and plot twist that we have all learned to know and love from the original series, but put a more current spin on things Leverage redemption is wonderful amazing and I love it just as much as the original! I would give it 50 out of 10 stars if that was possible but I'll have to settle for 10 out of 10, " Dammit Hardison"!
Texas Rising (2015)
Outstanding Performances by All Especially Jeffrey Dean Morgan
I rarely leave reviews, but as I have seen some of the not so nice reviews about this epic miniseries I felt the need to come and put in my two sense. I will do my best to write this review it with limited spoilers but there may be a few so you have been warned. First off I must say that Bill Paxton, Brenden Fraiser, Christopher McDonald, Oliver Martinez and the entire cast have done a phenomenal job bringing such a historical event to life. I cannot turn away, even during the bloody parts when I wish I could, I find myself on the edge of my seat with anticipation!
Jeffrey Dean Morgan though has stolen the series for me, his performance as "Deaf" Smith is one of, if not the best, of his career thus far. His loyalty and strength even while battling his own demon in the form of an illness is showcased with a preciseness that few could have pulled off. Throughout the series we see a transformation that is gut wrenching on the outside but his spirit remains so strong and beautiful that one could almost weep. I cannot praise the acting talents of Mr. Morgan enough in his portrayal and he alone is enough reason to take the epic 10 hour journey that is Texas Rising. (The farther in the series progressed the more in love I found myself falling with this this valiant character.)
The conclusion of Texas Rising is just less than a week away and although I cannot wait for it to air, I am sad that it will be over. I have traveled to a place in history with this series that we only skimmed over in history class and find myself researching the actual events as each week airs, so not only is it entertaining but also educational! I highly recommend that you NOT take the negative reviews that you see about TR as final word and that you give the series a shot for yourself especially if you are into this sort of thing. Oh and check out Ray Liotta! Although you will have to look hard to recognize him he is rather shocking and brings gritty to a whole new level.
Christmas Cottage (2008)
One of the best holiday films I have seen in years, it is sure to pull at your heart strings with excellent performances by all cast.
Only mild spoilers. One of the best holiday films I have seen in years, it is sure to pull at your heart strings with excellent performances by all cast. It is as beautiful as the paintings of the artist whose story it is telling a must see in my opinion. Padalecki shines as a young Kinkade and conveys emotions that are spot on for every scene. Peter O Tool will make you laugh and cry in his portrayal of Glen the famous painter who inspired the work of Kinkade as he struggles to finish just one last painting. If you chose not to see this film then mark my words you are missing out on a beautiful piece of cinema. Its a classic and one of my favorites, I even pulled it out this past July and I am not usually one of those Christmas in summer types.
