Sinister (2012)
Promising Concept
I will not lie, I did thoroughly enjoy the first 1/2 or 3/4 of this movie, I found the murder-tapes to be 'genuine' looking and the ambient soundtrack within the movie was fantastic; a real difference from most cheesy horror movies that put loud songs on to let you know you're meant to be scared.
Yes it was a very predictable movie, as soon as I heard one kid was missing and I seen the first tape I knew right away that it was the children murdering their families, but the tapes themselves and even the 'environment' (if you will) of the movie was not predictable. You may have been able to know when the scares were coming but at the same time you had a feeling deep down, a feeling which only came around when Ethan Hawke played those tapes.
Now the reason I called this summary "Promising Concept" was because I firmly believe the whole idea of Baghul was great, it was evil and demonic. However as soon as the 'ghost kids' came in moving around I just thought it all went downhill from there.
I just didn't like that revelation, it's as if the writer or director got lazy toward the end and wanted to finish it as quickly as possible instead of expanding and explaining a very advanced concept.
I would recommend this to somebody who is ready to love and hate the movie. I sure hope somebody follows up on something like this creating a real solid blockbuster.
Breaking Bad (2008)
TV is Reborn
It was only last year that Ireland received this show on TV, pretty sad huh? Seeing as how long it's been out.
As somebody who doesn't watch TV, I seen the season box-sets in my local DVD store a few times, I always looked at the cases, read the synopsis but never purchased. I was sketchy I guess because I thought with Bryan Cranston (Being Hal from Malcolm in the Middle) that the show wouldn't have been as "hardcore" as it is/was stated to be.
One day after being in my DVD store, I finally decided to purchase Season 1, not thinking much of it I went home and turned it on. Let's just say, I sat there for 7-8 hours, the day flew by.
My thoughts were wrong, I was wrong, what I thought it would have been was/is not, it is superior, far more superior than any of your typical shows like "Weeds" (Which yes I know is a comedy so there really is no solid comparison) or programs like The Wire. Breaking Bad delivers what it says it does, and I'm pretty sure either Bryan Cranston is either getting paid billions to perform in this,or he really is a methamphetamine manufacturer because his acting is ABSOLUTELY brilliant in this show. It's quite possibly the best acting I've ever seen in a TV show seeing how he went from an image of "Hal" to an image of "Walter", this bad-ass dad who takes **** from nobody.
Jesse & Walter are quite the pair, Aaron & Bryan are quite the pair, on camera and off camera. Watching the blooper reels I can see they have a laugh and a good time. On the set they have a good time doing what they do, and I cannot even begin to describe how attached to this show they are, I sometimes even believe it's a documentary of some sort, a real life happening.
I am just now going on to Season 3, I look do not regret any minute I've spent watching this show and I extremely recommend it for anybody out there, this is a solid 10/10.
Remember folks, "Stay out of his territory".
Frágiles (2005)
A different taste of modern life
After watching two terrible horror movies recently, I am glad I watched this movie, I thought I was having bad luck. This is a different taste of modern life and of modern movies as this does not contain your drastic over-the-top soundtrack, your cringe-worthy acting or your blood-spewing script. Instead this delivers solid scores across all three.
So the story? As it states, it's focused around a nurse who starts a new job in England but finds something, awry about the hospital and it's residents.
This movie balances out everything for you, it gives you a dab full of conversation, and a dab full of scares and thrills. Not forgetting the bucket-full of twists and turns that get straight to the point and doesn't involve some random migraine-worthy moments.
If like me you are browsing through IMDb because you have a fascination for unique horror movies that are actually good and not your typical over-priced s**t, then Fragile is the one for you.
Películas para no dormir: Para entrar a vivir (2006)
Just a terrible movie
After watching La Habitacion del Nino (They baby's room) which was a brilliant movie, I had some pretty high hopes for this movie. What a huge let down that was. The acting was terrible, the worst acting I've ever seen in a movie to be honest.
The story was terrible also, and the script? Really? I literally found myself almost shouting at the screen telling the victims to attack. The staircase scene when Clara was being dragged up, there were dozens of chances she had to attack the crazy old woman (Who by the way, wasn't acting, she really is crazy, her acting is extremely terrible). Then again in the kitchen, why the hell was Mario so afraid to just hit her with the damn lead pipe? How did she seem to recover so quickly after having her hand shredded? Please correct me if I am wrong but with the amount of blood that she lost, that would put her in to shock and an almost comatose state.
Oh, not forgetting the elevator scene with her son, why the hell didn't that woman just KNEEL DOWN, Why didn't they BOTH kneel down, one of them had a knife, the other had a taser, even in a situation like this with being in shock your brain doesn't go to the stage where you know jack-s**t. All it takes is a fraction of logic or common sense to know if somebody is above you which you do know because you're looking at them, all you have to do is kneel down and stretch your hand out wildly with a knife thus hoping that you land some sort of damage on your attacker.
Last but not least, the ending. As I said in the previous paragraph, she had a damn taser, how did she get caught? What were the actors making for this movie, 5?. Anyway, yes she got caught and she heard the new guests in the floor above, did she scream for help? No, she whispered very politely "Por Favor".
This was by far the worst film I have ever seen in my life, even "From Dusk Till Dawn part 2" was better than this, much better. What puzzles me even more is the high rating it got.
I don't know, if you're reading this now I HIGHLY suggest you ignore this movie, please just pretend you don't even know it exists for your own sake.
