The Dropout (2022)
Soft pedaling a monster
Amanda Seyfried is ok. The ensemble cast is excellent but I can't cosign how they soft pedal this monstrous woman. They have a surprising number of characters of color around her seemingly aiding and abetting, which is not accurate. This was a monstrous crime committed by one self-obsessed, entitled white woman. Amanda Seyfried is actually too like-able in her portrayal of this character. I don't think she inhabits this woman's persona at all. People died because of this woman. She doesn't deserve the movie version of a puff piece depicting her fraud and deceit. She knew what she was doing. She knew who she was hurting and she didn't care.
Tha God's Honest Truth with Charlamagne Tha God (2021)
Awesome!
Just fabulous! I've been waiting for this type of real show for a long time. Charlemagne tells the truth and some people (cough cough white supremacists) don't like but who cares about them. 2045 forever!

The whiteness of the writer shows
First I'll say that Seith Mann is a genius Director. But it's interesting that white men (the writer is white - big mistake) can only imagine a world where Black men lose everything and are always somewhat guilty. Black victims of police malevolence are innocent full stop. The whiteness of the writer shows.
As usual the actors were phenomenal with what little they were given. Laurence Fishburne is a national treasure. Stephan James is amazing. Jasmine Cephas Jones equally amazing. The little boy - beautiful and heartbreaking. The writing just sucked. They all deserved better.
I can't wait to see real Black liberation on screen. Now that will be epic... and it is coming
