The Batman (2022)
10/10
Batman done correctly, but may not be for everybody
5 April 2024
Let me start by saying I'm a big fan of Batman graphic novels. They are some of my favorite books to read And this film really embodied the spirit of those stories.

Now, I love all the Batman movies, yes, even that one. I love the dark and zany side of Batman, that Michael Keaton and the subsequent films following him got to explore. I love Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan's take on a more "realistic" and gritty take on Batman. Even Ben Affleck, had a few fun ideas. But this film (in my mind) blows them out of the water.

Let me be clear I am not saying that this film is better than The Dark Knight, it's not that film is a masterpiece.

However, this film dives into an aspect of a broken Batman we haven't seen before. It takes obvious clues from the books year and the long Halloween by making a Batman who is a formidable fighter yes, but also a great detective. Yet, he has not yet discovered how to be Bruce Wayne.

There is no origin story, no parents shot in and Allway, no pearls and rose petals falling to the ground. The film expects you to know a little bit about Batman going in, but does not require you to know anything more than the average, Joe would. But even if you don't know anything about Batman, I think you'll still be able to enjoy this film.

This Batman is less realistic than he is grunge. The very city of Gotham seems to be a character in this movie. It captures Batman in the darkness that many people tend to overlook.

Ghost of Tsushima (2020 Video Game)
10/10
The most beautiful game I have ever played
5 April 2024
This is a perfect game. I know that sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I wouldn't change a thing about this game. Following Jin On his path from samurai to ghost is a great story in and of itself. Good acting, and pretty good characters you can really feel for. But that's just the beginning.

The island of Tsushima is beautiful to explore forest golden leaves and cherry blossoms. Misty mountains an hills painted in flowers. The immersion is beautiful. If you ever feel lost in this beautiful world, you just simply swipe on your controller and the wind will blow blow in the direction you need to go. It's a rare game that will have you come to certain spots just to compose a haiku.

And the combat is excellent. The stances you can learn to fight with make the combat fun it makes you feel like a real swordsman. The fighting is elegant and brutal at the same time, and the tools and tricks you pick up along the way, allows you to change your strategy on combat depending on the need or mood.

I can't stress how much I enjoyed this game. In my mind this game belongs on your podium beside red dead redemption two. If you're looking for an open world action adventure game, this is the one.

Honestly, four stars may be too generous.

I love Jurassic Park. The first film I had been on of my favorite film was my entire life. And for the most part, I've enjoyed the Jurassic World films up until now. This movie was just ridiculous. It starts with Chris Pratt Lassoing dinosaur and just quickly goes downhill from there. This film was closer to her fast and furious movie (and not one of the good ones). It was contrived, it was predictable, and it was ultimately boring. The whole movie felt like they were just trying to remind you of the great movie. Jurassic Park that they had once made it was gratuitous. Well, I wouldn't see the last two movies were great films. They were at least fun dinosaur movies, this isn't even that.

It was good, but nothing new
5 April 2024
Let me start off by saying I really enjoyed the series, it was really quite good. The acting is good, the sets and costumes and characters are phenomenal. I feel like they really show you the horrors of war. Certainly some of the best depiction of aerial Combat I've seen (I can't test to its accuracy but it certainly kept me at the edge of my seat). But it should have been better and ultimately it's nothing I haven't seen before in other World War II films and series. That being said this is top caliber.

The main con being that so many characters come in and come out of the series that it's hard to get attached to many of the newer ones, even though large parts of the stories are built around them. I understand that they were trying to be somewhat historically accurate and that's why they kept bringing a new characters, but it just got hard to tell who was who and even when I couldn't remember peoples names, I didn't feel too much for them because I only know them for a few episodes. Also, this is really nitpicky, but the opening tile sequence is a little much. I always say Apple TV has some of the coolest tile sequences for their shows, this one was boring and cliché, and it really shows just how highly the show thought of itself.

All in all, if someone told me then you very about World War II and wanted to watch a good movie/series about it I would recommend this one. However, if you're a war film buff, it's nothing you haven't already seen.
