Trick or Treats (1982)
Wow! This was boring!
I'll give this was 3 because the topic summary was a good idea and kudos for getting Snodgress and Carradine to play some bit parts in it. This was so boring though!
That's fine if they wanted to make a bad movie but, it could have been at least a little entertaining. It feels like they tried stretching it out almost as far as it could go. I kept looking at the time and wondering when this film would end.
Le pacte des loups (2001)
Terrible
This movie reminds me of 'A Knight's Tale'. It is terrible. Unfortunately I have not not seen all of 'A Knight's Tale' and so I cannot really say what I think of it. I got a copy out of interest and every time I have played it, I've had to turn it off a few minutes later. I find it that bad. This movie made me feel the same way.
It was hard but, I stuck through this and I was disappointed from the start. I wonder if this movie was trying to be funny, 'cause it was cheesy as hell. I knew it would be bad in the first few minutes and I thought maybe it would get better but, it never did. Plot holes like crazy! One person said that different people threw in different stories and perhaps that was the reason.
I do give this three stars because I saw an interview for the director after this film, though I was burnt out by then, and he seemed to care about what he did. I feel that he had good intentions for his work, though this film was just a train wreck. I am guessing he knew what he wanted to do and just could not pull it together. I don't see how these people find funding for their films.
Space Mutiny (1988)
Cool Robes
I'm giving this a two only because I liked Cameron Mitchell's costume. He wore the better clothes. Some of the rest was a joke. This movie was stupid. The story line/screenplay made no sense. Did anyone review this before it was sent out? Obviously not. The editing was bad. It was filled with continuation errors. The list goes on.
Why would someone make this mess? We watched this through the Mystery Science Theater Thanksgiving Special. That helped and the cast and crew may thank that TV Show for the free promotion.
The murdered girl just goes back to work right afterwards and she is never brought up again. Practically some twerking from our heroine there, in the club scene. And there's the others who happily drink a toast to their ship being bombed. SMH
Harvey (1996)
Harry shined a bit. Swoosie, not so much.
From what I read, I wasn't expecting much from Harry's performance. Jimmy was...extraordinary. And I kept comparing Harry to him, until the part where he meets Mrs. Chumley.
There, Harry just seemed to shine a bit and I forgot about comparing. I just concentrated on Harry as Elwood, instead. Not too bad.
I love Swoosie Kurtz. I like to watch her films. She's a fun actress. Veta is just a tough role to perfect. I'd say it is the strongest. I don't find Josephine Hull to be an easy actress to match. It's almost like the role of Veta was 'made for her'.
Hull's character was irritating but, also oddly charming and she nailed better than the other 'Veta' characters. Kurtz did have a few good moments. It just takes a certain kind of lady to make that role work on film. Otherwise, a stage performance may work better.
This movie is more of a 5/10 but, I'll give it a 6/10 due to Harry's effort.
The Real Eve (2002)
I can't watch this twice.
I'm for the fact we originated in one spot. That I can buy. But, most of this film seems to be about trying to convince people that we all changed color as time went on. That's got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. This film doesn't even go into explaining our different bone structures, builds, hair, voices. We just changed color?
One person who commented has said, "I must admit it is frustrating knowing about this and still having to endure the ignorance and closed minded people who perpetuate that "race" exists."
We are different races AND we are all the same. I don't know why we have some individual characteristics. But, this movie is B/S and it had some potential.
Change: The LifeParticle Effect (2013)
Not What I Expected.
The summary on IMDb and on the DVD read wonderful. But, that's not what this movie is at all. I was hoping to watch it and learn something new or a guide to keep practicing what I knew, this is not it. This was just a lengthy infomercial for their Sedona Retreat.
That's all it is. Just pushing you to go spend money.
If you've already taken Dahn Yoga (or whatever it is called now), then you've already covered most (if not all) this film can give you.
Anyways, don't listen to this film. You don't need to travel to a resort in Arizona to have this particular spiritual experience. You can take classes where you live or even just practice out of your home. This experience can be enjoyed everywhere and anywhere.
Dementia (1999)
Hot!!!!
I found this movie to be quite a pleasant surprise. I thought this was going to be a low-budget/teenybopper loving/why did I buy this(?) flick. I bought for next to nothing so I didn't think I'd lose a lot if I hated it.
This movie caught my attention right away! I see half the people here disliking it. Okay. So, the plot is simple. There are holes but, so what? We're knowing what they are knowing of each other. Which is nothing. That's just fine. That's how things really are.
This movie is also so hot! It actually got me excited and it seemed like a very fun flick to make. I envy the people who got to star in this and I am going to recommend this movie to people who like twisted, sexual thrillers.
One thought I kept having throughout this was 'these people are so *demented*'.
I rarely give comments but, this was one that I just had to. I found the acting to be very fun and I think the director did a good job. This coming from a snob...
Shoppe of Temptations (1979)
Such a funny movie...
I love this movie. It was given as an unwanted gift at first but, I was curious still. I found it very funny and so fun and easy to roast. I've shown this film to a number of people. I have especially shown it to people who have never seen and are unsure about mature films. Everybody gets a kick out of it. If you HAVE to show someone an adult flick....if they are nervous about those types...this is the movie to show.
It has to do with an antique shop and an urn that does something special to people when some incense (or sort) is lit inside of it. One thing I have not been able to figure is what game the lady of the shop and her male 'friend' are playing. Well, they are starting to until...you know...
There is also a Mickey Mouse doll there. It sticks out as such a recognizable product. Her male 'friend' also makes a point to mention its name before he moves it aside. Does anyone think that there is coincidence here?
