Les goûts et les couleurs (2018)
Ridiculous
Her jewish brother was already out to his parents and siblings, but she couldn't even come out to her siblings or at least that very same gay brother?! And that makes sense?! They are all mature adults!
The movie represents gay people as dumb and confused about their sexuality...Maybe scared and in denial when teens but not when mature...
Her movie-mother-actress was totally out of sink with the cast, movie itself - she decided she should stand out as the main star while in reality she can't act...
Scene after scene was just too fictional, unrealistic...l fast forwarded after 20mins of watching and easily understood the ending...
I Care a Lot (2020)
We laughed from very beginning!
Omg what a moronic, illogical and naive movie! And all those great actors...So disappointing. I wouldn't be surprised if teens wrote the script as their school project or smth and not mr Blakeson. I mean, it was written without any sense or realism. I know it's a fiction movie but it felt like watching a cartoon.
When you run a scam the last thing you want to is to cross mafia-like individuals or mafia itself and you'll jump with "yes" on the first opportunity to get rid of them. Plus, you'll avoid any possibility to expose your little business to the eyes of law.
The screenwriter envisioned a great idea but forgot that everything has to match and lead up to the outcome with at least some logic. Unfortunately, mr Blakeson didn't even bother to watch at least one mafia movie to mimic behavior and would know that mafia would never fail a simple murder-suicide...
The movie had so many boring la-la-land moments even when the movie was approaching its end while the audience expected suspense and action.
At least we had some good laugh.
Marrowbone (2017)
Way too obvious
Just stupid. I would'd given it zero stars if it wasn't for good acting. But movie is one disappointment after another where screenwriter and director only copied ideas from other movies...Some scary scenes amidst predictable events...
Odd Thomas (2013)
Great fun for a couple of hours
The movie had some nice original ideas but they put a little bit too much and the director needed more patience to execute them the right way. Nevertheless, it was very entertaining all the way through.
As long as you watch it as a fairytale and ignore some unrealistic scenes - you'll like it.
Good acting.
Of course, it is very sad to watch Alton who died in a freak accident, but I feel obligated to give respect and cherish a memory of that fine young fellow.
Boarding School (2018)
Thank God for fast forward "button" 😅
Actually, the acting was pretty good but the whole storyline was - whatever...We kind of watched the first half of the movie and then pried through the end...The killing seemed more like a dark comedy, really silly ideas...
Premonition (2007)
B O R I N G
I adore sandra bullock but the whole movie wasn't clear with the subject, very confusing with so much unexplained and many scenes ridiculous and unrealistic. Total waste of time...
Promised (2019)
A woman is a child, and daddy knows best
According to this movie a woman is scared of a male authority so much that she doesn't show any resistance to the pressure of the expectations what she's expected to do and decides it is the best to listen and follow the request from her father and she does this so quickly and easily and it ultimately leads to her realization that parents know what's best for her: who she should marry and how she should lead her life which is cleaning the house and learning how to cook for her man - among other "female duties." One minute she is at the college and literally the next day she wants to learn how to cook for arranged husband while being forced to leave her beloved fiancee?! 😅
This is a heaven movie for all those parents who practice arranged marriages. Thanks to them this movie didn't get zero stars.
This is the most appalling anti-feminist unrealistic fairytale - excuse me, a movie - I have ever seen.
I will never watch another movie from this director or any cast responsible for this demeaning story about woman's place in this world where she has no saying. The movie also presented a heterosexual male as a brainless puppet and a coward.
What movie should be next for this director? Realization that women should renounce their right to vote and listen to men ?! 😡
Alpha House (2013)
Marta - nothing Croatian about her
The show is entertaining but I wonder if one can actually learn anything since Marta-character opened up my eyes. She plays a Croatian character but: name Marta doesn't exist in Croatia or in any neighboring country where people speak the same language (Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina); she speaks with strong Greek accent, even looks Greek - if not a Latina - but could be from some other countries (not Croatian look at all), and her two last names: one of them is universal like Bosnian, Serbian, Montenegrin etc. while other could only be from Bosnia & Herzegovina. I tried to continue watching the show but her ridiculous character just ruined it for me being a ridiculous nonsense. With all due respect, croats like people from other EU countries, can work for a family as nanny+light house cleaning - but not as domestic servants, that doesn't exist. Writers of the show were too lazy to check some basic facts so one can assume that everything on the show is just a totally wrong info.
Atlantis (2013)
No ending!!!! The show just stopped! 😅
Well, listen, the first season is entertaining enough to watch it while you're cooking or watching the show in the background. Many silly scenes, ideas, but it's a cute family tv series. When we remove all the killings of course, lol. We do learn plenty about Greek mythological legends. Medusa, Pythagoras, Hercules and Pasiphae (but few others as well) gave great performances. Jason? Meh. White city boy playing a hero, in those days one would expect leaner muscle tone. He was ok I guess. Ariadne? Bad actress with idiotic role, unworthy of the queen or anybody's time, lol.
Second season is more serious and director(s) figured out how to give the tv series its substance. I started actually watching the show the right way. Oh, there will be a gay kiss, oh la la.
Also, thank god, the Medusa's destiny received a soft version of her curse. Greek mythology gives very appalling version that is both stupid and illogical.
In the last episode we have a total shock when it turns out the tv series was simply cut off since apparently they didn't have enough audience - even though some argue they did...It's too late now, I guess we'll never know.
Dark Light (2019)
Director has to omit the naivety of the 80's
This is not the final or at least the second draft of the movie but the very first draft - at least that was an impression - that should had never reached the light of the big screen.
The movie had a lot of good ideas but director should had been less stressed out, more patient, and should had been focused on a story and real people reactions then making too much jumping from scene to scene and combine very different places that had hard time convincing the audience that everything connected. At one point they talk during the day and all over sudden they are sleeping and scary noises start, you know, typical cliche that scary stuff happens in the dark when people are unprepared. Too obvious. You know, let's skip everything in between approach - let's cheat and save some money as well as save some time and energy to develop a story and give each event a reason. It hasn't worked that way for many years now. Then other scenes, especially scary ones, took too long at the point of boredom. For example, the scene of police checking an accident (i am avoiding any spoilers) lasted 6-7 mins so I forwarded...I forwarded many scenes actually.
Lead actress Jessica Madsen was very good and I would definitely watch another of her movies! She has some mystic about her.
The ex-husband actor only did whatever director told him to do, like a puppet, very scared to improvise, to take initiative...
The kid-actress? That was acting? For a robot perhaps...Maybe she completely transforms herself during puberty which demands serious commitment to acting lessons if she wants to do anything in film business because right now she is a joke. She cost this low budget movie at least 2 stars overall.
This is a great movie for film students to analyze what parts were good, what parts should be omit, and what parts should be altered and how. There are sooo many things one can do with shadowing-lighting, mis-en-scene...besides just rewriting the screenplay, dialogue...
Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
Poirot's character?! A pompous joke
Poirot's portrayal was ridiculous! Why would an immigrant ( as a character of course) who comes from a middle-hard-working-class be sooo cold and arrogant especially in period of his life when he should feel a great sense of accomplishment and content, not to mention the wisdom that comes at mature age. He treated the non-rich as if they were full of lice. 😅 Unless you are nostalgic about the old generation of famous actors you won't enjoy this movie, especially if you are Suchet's fan who portrayed Poirot's character polar opposite. And talking about David Suchet: his version of the movie in 2010 is a master piece. Sure, I liked 2017 movie (Michelle Pfeiffer-WOW), but by omitting some things the viewers were left w some confusion as opposed to Suchet's version in 2010. Furthermore, I even like watching black and white movies and other oldies, but this was so dreadful so after 30 mins "we" stopped watching. The cast appeared jaw-dropping so perhaps the critics were way too soft and too eager to show a recognition and respect to esteemed big screen legends...
Maleficent (2014)
Flawless, emotional, beautiful!
We fall in love with "Angie". We laugh, we cry, we hate, we love - sharing all kinds of emotions with her. The movie took me on a personal spiritual journey. It forced me to evaluate my life, choices, decisions. Inspired me to forgive, to rid of the bitterness, to let a joy enter my heart.
Angelina hasn't won her Oscar for nothing! All the acting in the movie is amazing. Visual effects were amazing but not exaggerated like in Oz. I felt like everything was happening for real.
The movie and characters were smart. No annoying and stupid situations.
MY GOD WHAT A MOVIE !!!
I am going to see it again next week with a friend !!!!! (lol)
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
Simply amazing!
The second movie of the future Hobbit trilogy was made with a lot of patience; 10 times better than the first one! They took their time for each scene, development of the characters we actually care for, nice story...The whole movie was balanced: there wasn't too much talk or action or fast scenes or slow scenes....nice and clean.
The first hobbit movie was a bit disappointment. Boring, very long intro where dwarfs eat for the first 40 mins of the movie! LOL And all over sudden the action started at such a pace where one can't follow....And too many amateurish scenes like the one with the orc in the caverns....
"Smaug" was more in touch and connected with the lord of the rings. Soooo many beautiful scenes !!!! Gandalf finally shows his amazing wizardry power !!!
Now, comparing the book and the movie? c'mon!!! it was the same thing with the harry potter or most of the books and movies based on them: who cares?! read the book, enjoy it....watch a little bit different version in the movie and enjoy it as well.
They made an incredible movie and many split hair.....The hobbit cannot have such a deep emotional story because the book itself didn't have it. It's about the dwarfs and bilbo baggins.
If you have never seen the lord of the rings yo would've thought it was the best movie out there.....
Drop Dead Diva (2009)
Brooke's amazing: a new legend of the small screen!
After the first two awkward intro-episodes the show really takes on. I LOVED IT until the 4th season: then they put Kim Kardashian and diminished the whole importance of legal staff...Kardashian made everything seem so fake...At the beginning of the second episode with Kardashian I stopped watching the show...They also made too many changes with cast, script...I couldn't get rid of the feeling if I'd been watching Beverly Hills or some MTV crap... Real Jane Bingum will reincarnate?! So stupid...Yes, 10 stars for the first 3 seasons. After that I would rate it much lower...I do wish the best for Brooke Elliott! She's simply stunning!
Marley & Me (2008)
An emotional journey...(tiny spoilers)
If I could I would have given it 11...A roller coaster of mixed feelings and craziness the dog had brought to their lives from the beginning of the movie...When Marley did his very first BIG mess Anniston didn't flip...She instantly gave a hug of compassion realizing the puppy was alone and scared...From that scene Marley was welcomed and embraced into their home, their hearts, their small family...Eventually you'll see a normal family running a normal everyday life struggling a balance with a demanding dog...At a certain point they will be overwhelmed and after many years loving him they almost decided to get rid of their dog...However, the notion born out of desperation only lasted a single day...Conclusion: we laugh, we cry, we even want to kill the dog; but it all builds up into a hurricane of emotions and when it's time to part we only remember unconditional love...I can watch this movie only once every several years; brings all the memories of my dog who died at an old age of 14...Don't watch it in a group...watch it alone or with someone who's in a mood for a drama (yes, many funny parts, but the accent stands on drama).....no cellphones or pausing pls! otherwise you just want get it...
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)
Great fun for couple of hours
I know it's so lame to watch 4th part. I didn't even watch 2nd and 3rd. But i had to see something thrilling after a disappointment with boring Hugo... Hey, who are you to judge me? lol A lot of you will say it's just another James bond or Bourne identity movie and i'll say you are right. However, Mission impossible has great acting, great gadget and some new "magic tricks" by undercover agents... It's a safe bet for those of us hungry for a good movie theater night...And the film does surprise us with the sub-story where agents are also humans and friends and not just cold-blooded brain-washed contract killers... You will remember the ending...
Hugo (2011)
Boring !
What adventure ? And what fantasy ?! Hugo, the boy who looks like a girl by the way, just walks around Paris. He mimics a huge acting resemblance to Katie Holmes. He walks from his home to tower watch, flower shop ,town square, his friend's house and a store where he repairs things. Every time he had to reach a destination he had to go through town square. The whole movie is all about talking. It was a great idea to tell a story about someone who invests a lifetime to invent movies and capture the whole history on them but the films get destroyed. I am sorry but i can't sympathize with someone who has a nice home and a nice life while there are orphans suffering everyday which was shown in the movie... If they categorized this movie as a family drama I would have liked it....But adventure and fantasy ?!!! p.s.nice acting so extra star....another thing:they did a nice 3D job but in theaters they give you these small crappy 3D glasses
