The Wedge (2006)
Some alright material surrounded by a lot of cr*p
A lot of current Australian sketch shows are terrible. Actually, they pretty much all are. When I first heard of the Wedge, I didn't know what to expect, I didn't even know if it was a sketch show. I only heard about a few hours before it premeired, and so, I watched it. The first episode was alright, having a few laughs. It also introduced that girl on the webcam, easily a contender for the most unfunny recurring sketch ever. But, all up, it wasn't bad. It was about a 5 1/2 out of 10, looking like it would get better.
Unfortuanatly, the good slowly left, and the webcam girl remained. There is more then that that ruins the show, but I really hate that sketch. Anyway, It really just stopped being funny. There are some good and funny bits, like cooking shows which has a different host each week (A famous character/person), though a lot of the time, it's just the same jokes about the people who are hosting it as everyone else is saying, such a Bono and his wanting to get rid of poverty.
I'll be fair, the show is alright at times, but unfortunately, most of it is just plain bad. It's a shame shows like Fast Forward, The late show etc. aren't being made, at least not in sketch form they aren't.
AC/DC: Family Jewels (2005)
Great DVD, but has problems
AC/DC: Family jewels is, simply put, a great DVD, and worth buying for any AC/DC fan. Contains 20 clips from from the Bon era, and 20 from the brian era. But... that's it. Disc 2 has a discography on it, but that's the only extra on this DVD.
Now, the clips are great, don't get me wrong, but there could have been more. There is a clip of "Can I sit next to you girl" with original singer Dave Evans, Which would have been a great inclusion to the DVD. And there aren't any clips from Ballbreaker or Stiff upper lip, or even Live. What there is is good, but there could have been more.
The major problems with these clips, is that most of them we've already seen hundreds of times.
Though, all the clips are great, the best are: Baby please don't go, Show Business, It's a long way to the top(If you want to rock and roll), T.N.T, Jailbreak, Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap Let there be rock, sin city, Highway to hell, Hells bells, Back in black, What do you do for money honey, Rock and roll ain't noise pollution, Lets get it up, For those about to rock(We salute you), Shake your foundations, Thunderstruck and Are you ready.
Most of the one's I selected are in that list because of the songs, but the clip for songs such as jailbreak are just fantastic(So cheap it's great).
Climax! (1954)
First Appearance of James Bond
I wanted to see the original Casino Royale, and when I finally did, I wasn't expecting much, but all up, I was pretty disappointed. It's alright, but pretty weak.
It's live, so done like a play, but isn't that good. I apparently saw a version which had the last minute cut from it, so maybe the reason I don't like it so much is that I was disappointed when it ended.
Black and white doesn't bother me, so it wouldn't make much different whether it was colour or not. I actually don't think it would look as good in colour to be honest. I was surprised to hear that Ian Flemming had preffered this too Dr. No and the other official movies.
Acting is very good, I can't complain about it, and the story doesn't add much at all to flemmings novel, but took a lot away.
People say this casino royale is great, but all up, I can't see why.
Kiss Symphony (2003)
I don't care what others say, this rocked, Possibly spoilers
I first heard the songs from this on Tony Hawks Underground. the 3 I heard were God of Thunder, Rock and Roll all Nite, and lick it up. I only recently bought the whole DVD, and do I regret it? HELL NO! This whole performance is fantastic. Gene and Paul are great on the vocals, Peter continues to play the drums great, and even though Ace isn't there, he has been replaced by Tommy Tahyer(I probably spelt that wrong), who is a more then worthy replacement. The solos he plays are brilliant. Gene Simmons Bass solos are also great.
My favourite part was act 3, with the whole Melbourne Symphony Orchastra. God of Thunder, Rock and Roll all Nite, and I was made for loving you are the best. Being Australian I think it was great in Act 2, where Paul bothered to pronounce dynasty the Australian way. He said he's in Australia, and at a concert here, so he should pronounce it the Australian way. And I think it's great that he does that.
All up, there was a real lot I wrote, but, went over the limit, so I'll end it there.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Not Terrifying, but still a great film
Having only seen this one and number 2, also missing part of the start of this one, I can't really say this one is the scariest in the series. It's not terrifying but is a bit scary. It is also funny. There's not much to say about this movie. It's original and a very interesting movie, with a few scary bits. That's really all there is to say about it!
