Jersey (2022)
Could have had a better plot without a glaring loophole
Looks like the movie makers wanted to make the protagonist feel like a larger-than-life character. Why didn't the protagonist take up the assistant coach's role if he knew he had a heart condition and couldn't play anymore? The writers could have still shown him as rising in stature and a second shot at glory by becoming a great coach. It would have also improved his family's financial condition and he could have lived to see his son grow up. Just felt like a wasted life at the end.
Toofaan (2021)
Movie from 80s and 90s
Toofaan felt like a movie from the 80s and 90s with the hero being a street goon with a good heart and popular with the poor orphan kids, heroine not liking him at first but then falling for his good hearted nature, troubles in their love life, then the hero having to face all the troubles to prove himself.
This was a common theme back in the day and that's where this movie falls flat. It offers nothing new and is very predictable. Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment are known for their fresh style and novel plots and I am a huge fan of them, but this left me disappointed!
Saina (2021)
That mole on her face though!
Parineeti's mole did the best impression of Saina! Enough said.....
The Girl on the Train (2021)
Poor remake of the Hollywood movie
This is a poor remake of the Hollywood movie with the same name. If you haven't watched the original then it might hold your interest a little, but god forbid if you, then you are in for a torture.
Poor acting by Parineeti, especially the bathroom scene where she's raging, she's absolutely awful. She either needs acting classes or should only work in romcoms.
The twist in the end (it's not part of the original movie) was typical Bollywood masala and was completely unnecessary.
The movie felt very disjointed scene to scene, even though it is a remake. Overall utterly disappointing to viewers who have watched the original.
Inside Edge (2017)
Cheap version of the IPL
This series really felt like it wanted to build on the popularity of the IPL and webseries, but falls really flat. Everything feels very tacky about it - the plot, the drama, the characters, the writing. No way the real IPL happens any way close to this. This webseries is just a cheap imitation.
Shakuntala Devi (2020)
Overacting galore
Such a farce! In the process of showing Shakuntala Devi's prowess they got Vidya Balan to overact quite a bit. The movie should have been a different kind of drama in the league of A Beautiful Mind, but it ended being a masala drama.
Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
Could have had a better ending
In my opinion, if you are showing a Good vs Evil theme in a movie or tv show, it's always good to show evil being defeated comprehensively. The world needs it. There's already enough going on around us, so we try to find some solace in the entertainment world. I think the makers got too carried away by the plot which ended in a twisted finale.
2.0 (2018)
Good story ruined by mindless VFX
Had some expectations of this movie given the hype surrounding it and Akshay Kumar playing the bad guy. But what I only found was mindless VFX. It felt the makers of the movie got carried away in trying to show the VFX team's capabilities. The story was allright and so was AK's motive behind creating all the chaos. But the VFX seemed so stupid, especially during the climax, that it became embarassing and cringeworthy at times. Overall I would say it was a good movie that got ruined by over-the-top VFX.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Entertaining and Emotional but also not entirely fulfilling
My initial reaction coming out of the theatre was of great satisfaction and little sadness (black widow and iron man deaths). But as I gave more thought to the movie, I felt it could have been taken in a very different direction.
The time travel plan was good and I enjoyed the time travel scenes, but left me with a glaring question.....Wouldn't retrieving the stones from the past completely erase the Infinity War timeline as Thanos wouldn't be able to find the stones in the past??.....which means there was no snap and everybody just survived?? Also wouldn't it erase the present timeline of this movie and give rise to an entirely new timeline??
In my opinion, 5 years was too much of a gap, instead 1 year at the most would be more appropriate. Two reasons for this: 1. People move on with life in 5 years. 2. 5 years is too much of a time to avenge for the Earths Mightiest Heroes.
My other gripe is when Iron man wears his gauntlet with the infinity stones, how can he survive that?? A normal human cannot even survive holding just the power stone by itself. In my opinion it should have been either Captain Marvel or Thor or may be even Captain America (as he's a superhuman) weikding Tony's gauntlet with the infity stones.
Overall the movie ends up as a fun movie with great fan service as it touches upon the past movies and characters in a great culmination of 22 movies. I would even watch it multiple times but secretly would wish it was remade with Iron man surviving the end.
K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018)
Good but not great
The story is good and will keep you hooked till the end. There was more masala than you would expect in a highly rated movie. Tighter script, realistic characters (especially the smaller characters) and a little less acting would have made this movie an actual masterpiece! Nonetheless the direction and cinematography are brilliant. These are the positives along withe story. Songs were also kept to a minimum which would have otherwise distracted the audience from the story's intensity. Being the first part of the series there is more to come.
Andhadhun (2018)
Not a masterpiece but just an entertaining mystery
Andhadhun starts of well and builds to the mystery quite well too, that's the first half of the movie. Second half is where it loses the plot completely. The twists are illogical, characters become unrealistic and not believable. The story just seems to go out of hand and by the time it reaches the climax you would be left thinking about when it will end.
You would be hooked to the movie as it is a mystery thriller, but if you give a thought to it the entire plot seems to be full of loopholes and completely unconvincing.
Just good enough to entertain you, but not close enough to a masterpiece.
Fukrey (2013)
One of my favorite movies of all time!
The movie starts off slowly, but then catches pace and how! But you watch it the next time and it all seems to fit in wonderfully with the story. Its ultimately a movie of commoners getting involved in uncommon situations with romance and comedy also sharing equal space in it. The humor is very situational and very good in taste. Romantic is very sweet and the songs are good and diverse with disco number 'beda paar' and a classic Punjabi song 'amabarsariya' beautifully remade. My personal favorite is 'rabba' which beautifully captures the characters passion in pursuing their goals.
The actors have done a really great job and I am sure they will rate it as one of their works personally too. Varun Sharma makes a sterling debut and is the life of the movie. Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal and Majot Singh fit perfectly in their characters and have given a lifetime of a performance. The heroines Priya Anand and Vishakha Singh have done their bit pretty well and look very presentable through out the movie. Richa Chaddha as 'bholi punjaban' and Pankaj Tripathi as jugadbaaz 'panditji' are just great and have executed their roles to the tee. Ajay Trehan as the narco cop has done a commendable job as well and so did the rest of the cast. This movie could be a big boost to their careers.
Finally, great job Mrighdeep the director and Excel entertainment! Gives me one more reason to like Farhan Akhatar movies. The guy's surely got it right for him again! Overall, this is a feel-good-movie with a happy ending and can even do a great job of lifting your spirits if you are feeling down. Its a must watch and can be recommended to any one.
Arjun: The Warrior Prince (2012)
All style, no substance!
Mahabharat is an epic whose essence lies in its storyline. So tampering with the very essence of the epic makes this a very disappointing affair, in spite of the efforts put in to make this movie. I think the makers of the film must realize that!
The narration has been very poor. The Dhritarashtra and Shakuni characters have been shown in very poor graphical images. The character of Vidur has been totally done away with! Preposterous! The nature of many characters have been altered too. Overall, its a disappointment for people who already know the story and very misleading for the one who are not familiar with it!
Housefull 2 (2012)
a laugh riot
I found house full 2 surprisingly funny after all reading on the negative reviews on the net. Its not like an intelligent comedy, its purely made to tickle the funny bone no matter how illogical the plot might be. But it works for what it promises. If you look for logic you will be disappointed. Just kick back and have fun!
Akshay, Riteish, Shreyas, Johhny Lever are seasoned actors in the comedy genre. John needs to improve (as always), but isn't bad. The heroines are there just to fill in and don't do much. The daddies in the film don't have too much of screen time so that helped too :D...but to be fair to them they have played their parts well. Chunky Pandey...well, I have no comments ;-)....I m a joking!!! He is good too...
Agent Vinod (2012)
a good entertainer...saif is awesome!
I think its an overall good entertainment. Of course there are few loopholes, but they don't stand out. The first half is a little slow and confusing, the second half is much better and picks up pace.
Saif is awesome as Agent Vinod. His looks are great, action is stylish and dialogs are funny. Kareena did alright too. The rest of the cast come and go, but have played their part well.
The plot is much deeper than is expected to be. Action sequences have been stylishly shot. The Raabta song action sequence could have been shot better though.
A one time watch for sure.
