It's got it all
25 March 2024
Do Not Let The Subtitles put you off, after about 20 minutes, perhaps just after the pizza boxes your in, Didn't think I was going to be watching a film that would end up being my 7th favourite ever film, Considering I've watched very few Subtitled films, this has it all, Crime, Comedy. Thriller.

South Korean and it's my number 6 film! I won't ever forget those outside stairs :) it really has got it all ergo why I gave it 9 stars. But I'd give it 9.5 if i could as it's my best 9/10 film

I don't think this film would work in many other countries. Song Kang-ho who plays Ki Taek is superb as the main man. I left this 4 years after my family told me to watch it because of subtitles, don't you do the same!

Give her an Oscar
6 March 2024
Margaret Qualley's performance is out of this world, I looked up where she comes from and couldn't believe who her mother is, no disrespect to Andie MacDowell but your daughter is another level actor, she utterly captivates you, she's so alive, there's not much action and it's not needed, the performances and the writer however have made a peach without much money, that gives you after thoughts days later, I rate this 7.5/10.

If I bought stock in actors I'd buy loads of Margaret Qualley's, I've even entered her into my top 30 actors based on 1 film!

I will follow her more and hope she does not end up in rubbish like Robert De Niro.

Best Acting ever all-time by McQueen
16 October 2023
For me this is the greatest acting I have ever seen by anyone, in many of his films he's type cast, this is peak acting, how did he have this in him?

I've always had this many places above Shawshank Redemption, and I've always thought have Shawshank's watchers even seen this?

Best Jail film all-time, has to be one of the best true stories ever, a must watch even in 2023 and beyond I would say.

Normally longer films could have knocked time off but this is not the case with Papillon, it's McQueen that keeps you captivated

Papillon is the only other film in my top 20 from the 70's, the other is Alien 1979.

Decent film
16 October 2023
Didn't think it could keep me watching it but it got better, more interesting and darker, what would you do moments, many questions and scenarios became apparent, don't want to give anything away.

I feel people that love action over imagination may miss a films brilliance, and maybe switch it off too early.

I previously had not watched a film to the end for about 8 in a row, because they were less a film than this, even though they had higher ratings, this was the first.

For me it's a solid 7/10, I thought both of the actors were very well played, and new to me, Kate Bosworth is especially good.

Profound
14 November 2022
I watched this film till just over halfway and thought how it seemly was just about sex, turned it off, found myself going back to it the next day as it just had to be more than that, invest your time, and I was given a profound effect present.

I say this is a 7.5/10 there isn't much action.

I want to tell you how it's left me, and the meaning behind it, but that's the film dead if you're reading this.

The missus might not approve, and the children must be in bed, 5/10 is an insult to the thought of this, this is yet another way of doing a Sci-Fi that's not been done before, that in itself is sometimes not easy

The main 2 characters are really believably good

Ignore 5/10, this is a 7+/10 if you're a more mature Sci-Fi lover.

Future Cult Classic?
18 October 2022
This could be a cult classic one day, It's odd and quirky, humerus and delivered well by Imogen Poots and Jesse Eisenberg.

There is a underlaying story, some younger viewers will be oblivious to that, so this is why you get these shambolic low ratings maybe? What's to say if they saw it again 25 years later they would think as I have and award it many more stars.

Saw for the second time as I knew I quite liked it, Enjoyed it even more the second time, I do love the style, I say it's not a scary horror but the reality is an horrific one. If Sci-Fi is your number one go to then you'll enjoy this, It's certainly different from the rest!

Masterpiece, most under rated Sci-Fi ever!
2 October 2022
Over the years I've come to the realization that Sci-Fi 's are under rated overall by about 2 points.

Months later I am still talking about this film with my brother and Mum.

Even people reviewing seemingly love this or other Sci-Fi's with their words, then give it a 7/10, if you love a film it's got to be 8+ if you like it 7/10, I give it 9.5/10, I also think because it's not a Hollywood production with blockbuster names it doesn't get the clout it deserves.

I really don't want to give away anything, if you like Sci-Fi's you're going to love this, I currently have this listed on here as my 6th best film ever, and I am 51yo, so have watched many.

Other under rated great Sci-Fi's, Oxygen 6.5/10, I give that an 8, A. I Rising 5, I give that an 8 too, the later had a profound effect on me.

Another Under Rated Sci Fi
21 September 2022
Do not let the Dubbing put you off, she's brilliant, My theory is people 21 and under should not be allowed to rate any films, because they have not watched enough films, ergo very little experience,, no offence intended, how can you have order in things when most are unknown's.

I really enjoyed this film , it's a creeper.

This film has suspense, adrenaline, emotions, thought provoking and after thoughts, Melanie Laurent is a decent actress and it being French and dubbed does not affect this one iota.

The idea is mostly original so that is a positive, If you are a Sci-FI fan as I am you'll love this, it's a strong 8/10.

People's reviews saying things like REAL Sci-fi - Creative and exhilarating" or really enjoyed this or Oh! This is Awesome then they give it 7/10 ? Those words to me are 9/10 ! People should up score this that say that.

A timeless classic
23 August 2021
My 2nd best Crime film (after Pulp Fiction) It brought the funny into Crime films, don't like the very ending though, Slater was a star back then.

When I watched this again in 2017 I moved it up my list to number 4, and more importantly above Goodfellas.

The Original Classic Sci Fi, 2nd only to Matrix
23 August 2021
I thought this was dated before, wrong! All time original classic, well ahead of it's time, 1979 your kidding me? Ridley Scotts greatest, Top Casting & top acting from Ian Holm, made Sigourney Weaver, with John Hurt.

This is my second favourite film of all time, I used to always have Aliens above it, that is now about 35th, If you have not seen this in the last 20+ years you should watch it again, I was surprised by the big bit's I had forgotten about :) A timeless classic.

Hilarious near beginning, overall well worth watching!
23 August 2021
People who rate this 1/10 are totally disrepectful, there are many moments near the start that are hilarious, Amy Schumer is brilliant, i wasn't going to watch it because of it's 4.5 rating, and my old vow never to watch under 7's then 6.5's then i saw Baywatch [5.5 started very well pittered out], now ignore reviews because of this film! 4.5/10 my behind! People who voted this 1/10 have never seen 1/10's!!!
