I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Charlie please retire.
This is one of the worst movies ever.
Synecdoche, New York is one of my favorites ever. Strange.
This one is just beyond pretentious. The "characters" are just disfigured caricatures. There is no plot, no conflict and no way to relate to any of this. The first 10 minutes were nice but then the cringe kicks in. At his school things are so embarrassing to watch and when the musical elements start you just look away from the screen to not shame the once great director and writer.
What a disappointment.
Y tu mamá también (2001)
Great visuals, whacky dialogues and characters
Nicely directed, great cinematography. But story, characters and the dialogues are cringy.
Inside Job (2010)
Interesting analysis but a propaganda piece nevertheless
The documentary could successfully flesh out flaws in the incentive system that lead to the collapse. Other points, like generally blaming deregulation were not reflected at all. So the documentary was at points analytic and sincere at other moments just biased and malicious
Killer of Sheep (1978)
Great cinematography, poor acting
Using non-professional actors might work for some Italian neorealism movies, but here it throws you off, making it hard to be emphatic. The scenery keeps it interesting nevertheless.
Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy?: An Animated Conversation with Noam Chomsky (2013)
Interessting introduction to Chomsky by a stupid interviewer
Interviewer puts himself in the focus too much and is blamimg his lack of understanding on his lack of english skills.
Overall the animation are cute and enjoyable.
