Bright Green Lies (2021)
brighter green denial
The documentary did a good job of discrediting the greenness of renewable energy, and of explaining the destructive nature of our modern industrial civilization.
Their main conclusion is that industrial civilization and agriculture must end, however they provided no hint of how that might be achieved while feeding 8 billion people.
They did not say a single word about the need for democratically supported rapid population reduction policies.
This is quite amazing because population reduction is key for BOTH the goal of deindustrialization, AND the opposing goal of retaining industrial civilization, as non-renewable resources deplete.
In other words, population reduction is the only wise path forward, no matter what lifestyle you desire.
Thank goodness for Ajit Varki's MORT theory which explains that humans exist because we evolved to deny unpleasant realities. I'd go insane without understanding why there are vanishingly few sane people on this planet. Even among well intentioned reasonably aware people like the producers of this documentary.
Planet of the Humans (2019)
a nice test of Varki's MORT theory
Given Moore's stature with the environmental movement you might expect this documentary to shift their focus to population and consumption reduction, which are the only policies that might help our overshoot predicament.
On the other hand, Ajit Varki's Mind Over Reality Transition (MORT) theory predicts that beliefs will not change because humans evolved to deny unpleasant realities.
Let's watch what happens over the next few months. I predict MORT will prevail and beliefs will not change.
The Great Hack (2019)
producers don't have a clue what's going on
How can you discuss Brexit or Trump without beginning with a discussion of declining standards of living and the widening wealth gap caused by limits to growth caused by depleting low cost energy?
You can't unless you are a moron and/or are in denial.
Once the root cause of anger is understood then you can discuss Cambridge Analytica and the hundreds of other methods despots will use to exploit anger.
The Man from Earth: Holocene (2017)
I did not enjoy this one
I enjoyed the first movie, but not the second one.
The first movie had excellent writing and interesting ideas that made up for its really bad acting.
The second movie had better acting but not good enough to make up for its really bad writing and weak ideas.
