The Bear (2022)
I have restaurant PTSD and this show did not help!
I've worked in Restaurants for 6+ years. I got out and currently work in film and animation. But this show! This show is as realistic as it could be. It never compromises it's vision. The acting from everyone is to tier. The cast all fully embed the role they came to play.
A must watch for anyone in the industry and more so for this who've never worked in the industry. Hopefully people will see this and have some respect and empathy for how brutal and grueling the restaurant industry can be.
Well done cast and crew.
Well done Jeremy Allen White! Top performance!
Little Voice (2020)
Doesn't quite hit the spot.
Being a musician I really wanted to like this show. Unfortunately the lead role comes off as self involved, self destructive and toxic to everyone around her. This makes the show really hard to connect on a personal level but maybe that was the intention? The supporting cast seems to just enable her behaviour the whole 9 episodes repeatedly coming back for more torture as the lead lets everyone down again. There seems to be no lessons learnt by anybody here.
The cast does an incredible job with the scripts they're given but the storylines and character decisions are way off what one would expect in real life.
Underwater (2020)
William Eubank demonstrates clear skill as a director.
I'm excited to see what else William Eubank has to offer going forward. Underwater clearly demonstrates Eubanks skill as a director blending everything we love from classic sci-fi and Thrillers to create something that kept my muscles tensed and eyes wide open.
When looking at the plot 'Underwater' offers nothing new if you've seen Alien, The Abyss, The Sphere, Life or Gravity but the aesthetics and tension are all there.
With a fairly short run time for movies these days Underwater uses it's time efficiently. The first hour will leave you claustrophobic with a fear of drowning or decompressing wasting no time getting into the films plot.
I left Underwater satisfied and would say it's worth a watch in the currently oversaturated market of Film and Tv. Performances are on point and characters act as one would expect.
Good movie.
Chernobyl (2019)
Good stuff.
Looks wonderful and content is great but why is everyone so painfully british?
