The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: The Eye (2022)
Come on, guys...
Reading through these reviews I get the feeling that I'm the only one who's actually enjoying this show -___- Sure this episode wasn't the best episode but someone else said it, too . . . It's pretty typical in a series for there to be a slower episode after one that's stuffed full of action.
That being said, I missed the part where Galadriel and Theo got separated from everyone else. It looks like they just wandered off into the smoke. That was a little confusing. But I will forgive it since a goddamn volcano just erupted and no one could see much.
The second thing that bothered me was the balrog in Khazad-dûm. They make it seem like they're going to awaken that MF in no time at all but don't they need time to like make some god damn mithril armor before that happens? Like according to the lore or whatever isn't there like 300-400 years of mining mithril and making badass armor and weapons before they awaken the Durin's Bane ? I'm just speculating cuz I haven't seen episode 8 yet or anything but yeah they didn't need to show us the Balrog yet lol.
Those two things aside I still really enjoyed this episode, just like all the other ones. I don't care if it's slow. The lot of reviewers on here are idiots =D.
Britannia: Imperial Visit (2019)
Calm down
People be takin' a piss on this show but I really like it. I'm really glad it's back. Season 2 . . . that opening ~ like no way hahaha come on now son that's PRICELESS son ~ and I am so glad to see that they used another Donovan song for the theme song ~ classic . . .
The Wave (2019)
I enjoyed this flim
This flim remind me of Donnie Darko a little bit with also hints of Fears and Loathing in Las veGas. Another title was it reminisced me of was Mememto with Guy Pierce. A little better was it than I was anticipating and of all posssible people to show up in the flim, Sheila Vand! What a beautiful and talented fresh face on the scene. Asbolutely loved her on the Vampire flim Girls Walking Home At Night. Took me by surprise, this flim. I was anticipating it to be a much darker ending but ah well. Sometimes that is not always necessary. SOLID 5/7
Mandy (2018)
Psychedelic gore-fest a la nostalgia
I arrived at this film thinking it was going to be yet another attempt to squeeze more juices from the 80's as if the 80's had any juices left (apparently it does). I was partially correct.
This film borrows heavily from other films and that's fine. I felt that the visuals were pure; the soundtrack was decent; the writing was a bit empty; the villains... meh. I initially found the cult to be slightly intriguing but that slowly disintegrated as the film progressed. The leader I felt was a bit long winded and I wanted to learn more about the rest of them. I suppose I just like my antagonists to have depth.
I'm not going to dissect this entire film. Not really worth my time. I will simply say that I felt strong David Lynch and Rob Zombie vibes. IGN writes "Panos Cosmatos' Mandy is a cult classic in the making." I write, Panos Cosmatos' Mandy borrowed from cult classics and created a decent tribute. Probably would have enjoyed it a lot more had I been tripping. 7/10 for the visuals and Cage being Cage (and the Blue Velvet scene.)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
Now THIS is what a Block Buster should be.
I give this film ten out of 10 red dwarfs because it is the epitome of what a Block Buster movie should be.
Action...check. Drama...check. Sexy people (who are totally not really over-sexified for fack sake)...check. ACTING....CHECK.
& enough intelligent material to hold MY attention. You see, folks. Most Block Busters are brainless bash festivals with over-sexified loons looking pumped up with testosterone, estrogen, steroids, jizum... Mindless entertainment for the working class ass who typically works the "I Hate My Life" kinda job and just needs a little escapism when the day star turns in (or comes up, 3rd shifters.)
And I'm not very enthralled about the direction in which these Block Busters are appearing to head. CGI seems to be a valid substitute for acting. WRONG! CGI doesn't kill a movie. There are plenty of good movies that use it. If you think that I'm bashing CGI you can go fack a tack. I'm saying that you can't have a film that scraps acting just so you can have some puffed up sex bots That strutting and fretting their hour upon the stage, and then are heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing, to paraphrase good old Shakespeare. He, too, pandered to the "lower class," but the difference between Shakespeare and most of these Block Busters is CLASS. Shaky had class. Most people in Hollywood don't.
So fellow movie lovers... let us attempt to refrain from BUYING these dullard films full of action sans-acting. Purchase a ticket for a movie like X-Men... Go see X-men... and if you still want to see your brainless Block Buster, hop on over after you've seen X-men... WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT. Because we need to stop this dreadful trend. Brilliant films seem to be far and wide these days... Unless they're independent and/or foreign and either can't afford or just plain don't get advertised.
Sorry that this wasn't exactly a review, but it's my opinion regarding the greatness of this film as compared to the slop that we willingly watch which turns our brains into just that.... slop.
Thank you for reading.
