In the episode where Violet resurfaces with her own podcast, it really angered me.

I am writing here about it.

In the episode, Violet completely trashes her Mom, as though Christy never was in AA getting her life together, those years leading up to the episode. It would be best if that was removed from the viewing rotation.

Why couldnt the writers have used Violet's podcast so she could tell how much better off she was having learned life lessons so early on, in the stead of being a spoilt 18 to 22 year olde, when she would venture out on her own. How shew would have been so far ahead of young ladies her age, how she was so popular because she was helping her age group how to manage their check accounts, how to clean their rooms, do the laundry.

Seriously, lose the episode. It is such an unfair, unright downer.

I discovered 'Becker' by watching it on syndication. I have been a fan of Ted Danson since 'Cheers'. I would say that 'Cheers' is my all-time favourite situation comedy. And that is saying a lot since I am a Southerner and 'Cheers' is cast in Boston, the source of what Southerners dislike about our country. In addition, the character Ted plays in 'Becker' is quite different than Sam Malone. And I delight when some of his 'Cheers' co-stars join him on 'Becker'.

I was very disturbed when a recent episode dealt with racism by casting the White person as the villain. That, besides being misleading, has become an 'entertainment' stereo-type. The story had Jake fall for this blind White woman, who could not tell Jake's race by his voice. They go out once, or twice, and they are talking about things at Reggie's diner when the issue of race comes up with Jake saying race does not matter to him, evidently he can tell by her voice, but her finding out about him stuns her and she says she prefers not to date Black men. After she explains herself, she leaves, alone.

Why could not the story show that Blacks are also that way. If TV and movies were our only source of information, we would believe that only White people are racists, White men are dumb and stupid, Black people are noble and wise, especially Black women.

That episode really put a damper on my enjoyment of the show. Based on his character one would have thought Becker would defend her right to go out with whoever she pleased, but even he sided with Jake when he called her a racist after she walked out. The sort of type-casting has to stop because it is, really and truly, damaging race relations because it perpetuates a false and damaging stereo-type.
