Emotional Ride
22 January 2023
I watched this on my flight home from England, and I cried so many times just from being so emotionally invested. It was charming, raw, and endearing. It was a real testimony to how humans of any age need someone they can lean on and trust. That someone just supporting you can get you through. I found this to be a beautiful, heartfelt film. Olivia was AMAZING as always, and I wept watching her struggle to let her guard down and to let herself welcome love. I don't understand the low reviews, unless you just do not understand what the story was trying to portray. There was a wholesome juxtaposition of a young boy forced to care for himself and be tough, while deep down missing his loving mother..and a woman forced into motherhood, unsure that she has what it takes to give her baby the love and care she needs. I found it beautiful in how simple it was.

The Wolf Movie No One Asked For
6 September 2022
What did I just watch. MAYBE it could have been a short film...at best. I wanted to cover my ears and gouge my eyes out simultaneously, while then deleting my whole HBO Max account for allowing me to witness this fodder. The script was what you'd expect from an amateur High School theater group, desperate to prove they're edgy and avant-garde. It's one of those roles for Lily-Rose Depp that screams "I don't need nepotism, I can destroy my acting career on my own". And while I admire McKay, and love seeing his career really pick up...lately the majority of his character choices are all the same formula: awkward blank stares, moody huffing and puffing, scowling, gaunt Tim Burton-character-come-to-life energy. Was there ever really a reason for this movie? Did someone think, "You know what kind of movie we need right now?" He was a painfully awkward kid that thought he was a wolf, and that's LITERALLY the whole story.

Truly Epic Viking Tale
22 April 2022
Right off the bat, this movie packed a punch. The combat choreography was spot on, and the film felt like a blend of King Arthur meets LOTR meets Vikings, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I was instantly pulled into this saga and the movie flowed so well, it did not feel like 2 hour 15 minutes. No lulls in the film, not a dull moment. The cinematography was brilliant. And of course, Alexander Skarsgaard was a beauty to behold.

Embry's Wig Takes the Lead
21 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Where do I start. First off, it was extremely hard to look past Ethan Embry's awful Jesus wig. I mean, maybe they were playing off the "Devil's" Candy and were wanting to create a symbolic anthesis to this. However, they should have put in a little cash to make it at least a decent wig. Now, I appreciate a good horror movie where a muscled cool dad (Cue Ryan Reynolds in Amityville Horror) buys a (shocker!) haunted house with his annoying wife and angsty teen child/children. But this was too much. The flow of the story was disjointed and I wish they had fleshed out the Devil aspect more. I get they wanted to make it vague and eery...but more details on the devil would have made it creepier. They didn't focus much on the horror at all, just showing off how much Embry worked out before filming and can pretend to paint on camera. And don't get me started on his annoying Mrs and daughter. I was kind of hoping they'd both get taken out. I do not get why this has been placed on so many "top horror" lists. Would not recommend unless you like to see a muscular man covered in paint and you have zero taste in horror films.

Epic and Bizarre
26 March 2022
I dont often give a film 10 stars, but this was superb. It was an intense and bizarre ride, with the strange concepts stretching so far out there at times, it was as though they made more sense. It was visually stunning, the costumes were epic, and the balance of humor and emotion was perfect. LOVED IT. No one else was meant for this role other than Michelle Yeoh. She brought the lead to life in the most beautiful, meaningful, perfect way. This whole movie was mind blowing.

Not Haunted, Haunted Hotel
11 March 2022
Two employees of an old hotel decide to try and uncover if the hotel is in fact haunted...and then do basically nothing but awkwardly interact with one another as they trade off shifts through the night. The only things they managed to uncover was that Sara Paxton can't act, and they're lightweights that get drunk off 2 beers.

Jack Bauer being Jack Bauer But With Mirrors
8 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Basically Jack Bauer screaming at a bunch of mirrors for an hour and a half. I too hate mirrors, but you don't see me freaking the f*?!# out. I kept watching for the sake I love a terribly cheesy scary movie. If Sutherland didn't make you question your movie night choice... Paula Patton's addition really adds some sparkle. My favorite part is the dude on the force that never questions Sutherland's constant calls for police records and information on past criminals and mental patients...considering he is a dude suspended from the force due to the fact he killed someone and is he ain't medicated due to his inability to cope....maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't be placating him and risking your own job to fuel his delusional ravings about possessed mirrors. But what do I know, I'm no cop. Kind of a waste of Jason Flemyng, since I actually like that actor. My husband fell asleep before the end, but I powered through..cause I'm a trooper. I'd recommend this movie if you have some twisted vendetta against mirrors and would enjoy seeing someone smash/shoot/scream obscenities at them for the length of an entire movie.

Ryan Phillippe Shines
19 January 2022
Really it's a film about a talented saxophone player that becomes addicted to digging for trash after the death of his wife. This eye-opening tale focuses on his teen daughter's struggle growing up with a father that can't seem to let go of his obsession with garbage. Things take a turn for the worse when her dumpster daddy digs up a magic box she can make wishes on... that comes at the cost of people continuing to dye around her... but thank god daddio stopped rooting through the refuse and shaved his fake beard...so it was a triumph. So glad Ryan Phillippe took a break from his illustrious career to take part in this heartwarming film about a father and daughter coming to terms with an addiction not frequently spoken about, while also selfishly killing a bunch of people so they can get their wishes. Recovery comes a cost. But at least they have each other.

Dreadful Skies
18 January 2022
From the get go the acting was just terrible...felt like a badly scripted TV movie. My husband and I just turned it into a drinking game- everytime Keri Russel's character yells "Daniel!" at her useless husband, take a shot. Warning, she does it a dozen times at least in the first 20 minutes of the movie. Thankfully we like to watch awful scary movies in bed, so we kept watching it to get a good laugh.

Predictable
20 November 2021
I wanted to like it given the creators and the lead actress...but it just never got that interesting. Was very predictable. The clues were all there from the beginning and there wasn't much to leave you in the edge of your seat. And I adore Dule but his accent felt forced...was a good filler movie for my flight, but I probably wouldn't have sat through it at home.

Bloody brilliant
5 October 2021
I am still talking about this movie a week after watching. I was laughing, screeching with anxiety...it was the perfect amount of campy scary humor and the ending was exactly what I'd have wanted. Loved it. It's going to be a staple in my household from now on. "EUGENE!!"

Uh...
4 October 2021
I'm more interested in the fact Jake Gyllenhaal looks so frikkin young in this film. I just wanna know his beauty routine.

As for the film? Uh. It was mainly Jake being very dramatic about phone calls and smashing his desk whenever he could. And then he starts crying. Because he is so committed to his job?? Then he just started spilling his life story on the phone ON A 911 EMERGENCY CALL??

It seemed a bit disjointed. This was more a chance for Jake to exercise his ability to cry on cue than it was to tell an actual thrilling story.

Could have talked less about Samuel L Jackson's Sperm Count
20 June 2021
....but all in all a great follow up to the original. I don't often say this- but I liked it even more than the first. The humor was on point. Ryan Reynolds was Ryan Reynolds and Salma Hayek was brilliantly unhinged and badass. It was entertaining, witty, clever, and the special effects/action scenes were so well done. It was definitely worth seeing in theaters.

Questioning my boyfriend after this
31 March 2021
I'm starting to wonder if my boyfriend actually loves me after he made me sit through this film....when he had already seen it and knew what was coming. It was comprised of one cruel turn after another, and I was left wanting to throw up from the constant barrage of torture. There was no silver lining to this film. Just a bleak realization that my boyfriend might have a horrible taste in movies.
