Portals (2019)
Grossly Underrated
Yeah, it's a low budget and some of the acting was mediocre, but I totally love the concept. Most of all, the cinematography was mind-blowing. It completely drew me in. I watched it several times and it still captivates me! It's a montage of experiences all centered around The Portal via aliens taking over the planet. It's both fascinating and terrifying. Despite the flaws, being much of the acting, writing, and "B Movie" cheesiness, the concept is smart. It's put together in such a way that it truly drew me in! I enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. It's very cerebral and makes one question what they would do in this terrifying scenario.
Both "Adam" and Sarah" were phenomenal. I felt like I was in taking the ride of utter confusion with them!
Domina (2021)
TOTALLY EPIC!
Each episode is better than the next. As an Ancient Roman (amateur) historian, this uses actual events to create a gripping narrative of the lives of the characters surrounding Livia Drusilla of the Claudii. Thie writing is as phenomenal as the acting. This cast is AMAZING! Edge-of-your-seat, non-stop intensity. This is officially my favorite show right now. Because of the plethora of instrumental characters with similar sounding names and appearances, sometimes it's difficult to keep track of who's who. This is the only reason I'm not giving this 10 stars. But each character is so engaging, and historically accurate.
Hereditary (2018)
Brilliant
Toni C. Totally deserved an Oscar for her breathtaking performance in Hereditary. The pace may be a bit slow, but it's telling an incredibly twisted nightmare that takes time to unravel... much like The Graham Family! Foreshadowing abound from the 1st scene, I've seen this movie a few times and I seem to find something new each time. I believe this masterpiece will be a classic.
Snowpiercer (2020)
Why Spoil a Masterpiece With a Series?
The movie: A+
A watered-down version of the Original, masterful Snowpiercer. And worst of all: no Jamie Bell!
The Great (2020)
Brilliantly Hilarious
I was addicted after about 15 minutes. The writing, acting, wit, drama... I was literally laughing out loud. Dakota Fanning shines. I didn't find the language offensive at all. It was totally apropos. Perhaps not historically correct, but even for a history buff as myself, the pure genius makes it A MUST WATCH!
Doctor Strange (2016)
Brilliant!
All-around excellent movie. Cumberbatch delivers an ineffable performance, as does Swinton. But they're the best of the best, in my opinion. The rest of the cast are also amazing. The storyline is profound and universal yet the telling is fresh, unique, and mind-blowing. Excellent effects! With such a deep, metaphysical plot, the comic relief is perfectly timed and isn't cheesy at all. The initial imagery and ideas are very Carl Sagan. And I'm a Cosmos Girl! This cinematic masterpiece has earned my 10 star rating.
