Simple story, NO 'never seen before' action
26 April 2024
Trailer was cut extremely well but movie was underwhelming in terms of expectations. Based on the same tried and tested formula of vengeance by Bollywood as well as Hollywood. However a 'WIN' for Dev Patel as his directorial debut, The lack of experience is visible(especially the odd camera angles) but some of the shots and action scenes are shot beautifully, hope he gets more movies to direct and improves. The characters could have been more interesting to watch but they were too bland to deserve any concern. The dialogues were somewhat 'cringy' and also delivered badly by cast, it would have been better if the movie was made in Hindi and later on Dubbed for international markets, because the English speaking characters really doesn't go well with the slum setups. Facing a Total Ban in India must have been a letdown for Dev Patel as it could have boosted the film's buisness too an extent seeing the familiar Bollywood content and known faces of the movie.

A poetic stalking
17 April 2024
Reading the plot was enough to pull me into it but what really kept me going was Martha. Jessica Gunning nailed every bit of raw emotion and craziness of character beautifully with her eyes and expressions so as so whenever she was on screen I was awstruck. Seeing it was enough creepy but knowing that it really happened to someone leaves u thrilled. Richard Gadd also played his leading part well along with the supporting cast but I just can't appreciate Gunning enough through words. Storytelling was good and episodes were of decent length to keep you going. Background scores have all been my favourite at different times. Show has a very poetic ending, all in all its a Must Watch!!

The very best of the x men
2 April 2024
The show absolutely lives upto the hype that's been created around it since an year or so, it even exceeds of what I expected. The old theme song is back, old school animation, exciting background music, good voice overs, a superb storytelling and a cliffhanger at the end of every episode..what else can you ask for! Yet the most appealing thing about the series is it's character depth expressed with aptly written dialogues. Show always carries an aura of mystery wrapped around it which leaves the viewers wanting for more after each episode. Glad that something so extraordinary came out of marvel after so long, can't wait to see more of it!

The Gentlemen (2024)

Watchable!!
7 March 2024
The Pilot of the show was intriguing and creats a hunger to watch more but after the 2 episodes of the show it becomes kind of anthology series with main story running in background and that was disappointing. Although the episodes are still interesting enough once u begin to watch. Haven't seen the previous installment of Guy Ritchies work with the same name and don't even know if there is a connection or not but it never bothered me while I was onto it. The characters are interesting played well by respective actors(most of them if not all). The screenplay is decent enough and so is the direction. The problem I see in most of Netflix series is evident in this one also and that is the 'world building' problem, little details like Zero staff appearance at a massive property, a single person running a whole weed farm, lack of wide angle shots and additional actors obviously due to budget restraint. That goes along with the Netflix formula for Quantity over Quality perfectly.

Deserves all the praise!!
6 March 2024
I don't know why this kind of content is still so rare in India when it is demanded the most. A light hearted comedy drama that introduces us to ground reality of a profession or a setup just like Panchayat...yes 'PANCHAYAT', it gave me the same vibe. The characters are interestingly written stuck in believable situations and played by some of the very fine Actors across in industry, special mention to Ravi Kishan who is flawless in black coat. The direction is good, dialogues are witty and stories are based on some of the real life incidents as claimed in the series. I Hope to see a Second season of this with Ravi Kishan in it and would like to urge Netflix to focus more on this type of content.

Edit : So happy that it got renewed for a second season, wish the cast and the whole team a heartful Congratulations!!

Tried to be so much but at the end..just mediocre!!
15 January 2024
Show intended to be a Dark Comedy Thriller including a series of murders and one thing leading to another and to another but the weak script and average acting(poor in some cases) took the show to nowhere. It has it's moments but couldn't lift up show's genre game. Didn't expect such below the mark acting from legends like Manoj Bajpai and a refined actress like Konkana Sen Sharma. The events of story sometimes feel like made up and predictable. I intended to finish it in one go but failed to do so even after fast forwarding through some dull and clippable moments of the show. Easily avoidable to save your precious time.

Gen V (2023– )

Mediocre Show milking The Boys popularity
18 November 2023
Since it is set in The Boys Main timeline hence it is meant to be compared to The Boys, and when u come to it The main difference between the two shows are the characters, when the boys gives it's main characters a story arc, a motive and growth, Gen V just falls flat in those aspects. Not a single character felt impactful or to be cared for, it is so messy that the character feels forced at times to act in such way, forget the growth they can't even give proper backstories to them. They were looking to milk the action and gory elements from the boys, which I think they did pretty well, not to forget the Antony Starr Cameo, which was also off for me as I expected the characters to shine and stand out for themselves in the end but Homelander took all limelight. When it comes to spin offs I think Better Call Saul stands Tall as ever and any other franchise should learn a thing or two from them.

Scattered plot and inconsistent character traits
14 March 2023
This could have been better if it wasn't the victim of lazy writing. You can't just copy and paste a series, you have to write and adapt the plot as per local culture and views. The plot is scattered all over the place and they are trying to connect the plotlines literally by a PHONE CALL every single time!! That shows the efforts writers has put to bring forth an already executed successful show. Another turn off for me was how inconsistent the characters were in their mindset and decision making for eg a character is in abstinence since past 10 years or so and his brothers were at first shown to care and maintain that he doesn't touch alcohol again, then he started drinking again and nobody even once tried to get him out, similarly the lead character wasn't so much into asking for favour to get his children admitted in top school but without any trigger he took the favour. Many more examples are there and these little things just set you off and keep you from indulging in the series. The over the top vulgarity is also one huge negative point and could have been avoided easily. Rest i finished it in multiple sittings and I can suggest to avoid it. Better watch the original one.

An appropriately flawed engaging show that deserves all the praise
2 November 2022
I like the idea of 'recurrence', although flawed but that's the beauty of it, it's the sort of phenomenon which hypothetically can never be perfect but at the same time feels relatable and possible. And the show tries to portray the idea in an even more beautiful manner with the well written characters. Peter Capaldi was meant to be the Gideon as he goes naturally into the skin, i don't know many of the other actors but most of them did the job right (special mention for the kid who played Isaac) The direction and cinematography is decent enough but I think the core strength lies in writing done on the strong premise. I hope it reaches to more and more people so Amazon stamps for more quality products like this. I am glad I started watching this but it requires lot of concentration to note down small things and trying to connect the dots so I recommend you watch it sober and alert.

A slow burning visual spectacle
2 September 2022
As a fanboy I can say the tone of the show pretty much matches LOTR, it takes us into the middle Earth like we have known and even if you aren't familiar with the franchise the VFX are enough to keep you hooked. The story progresses at a slow pace, and to be fair it should be slow being just the beginning and the first season to make people acclimatise to the world of Tolkien. Coming again to the VFX I have literally never seen such beautiful scenaries in any TV Show or most of the top budget Hollywood movies. I mostly mention VFX in a review only if they are bad but here this is MVP of the show. The Hobbits are back to kill you with cuteness as Nori take on the mantle of Frodo and Galadriel the elf is the connecting link to the main franchise and one of the Central characters. It's an easy 9 for the stars but one more for the bad rating so far that it definitely doesn't deserve.

A game of thrones begin again!!
23 August 2022
Having a devastating end to one of the most loved TV series was heartbreaking for me and many more. The ending to it was bad enough to ruin any re-watch for the series and lowered the expectations for any of successor that was to be rumoured 3 year back. After many try and rejects HBO finally thought to settle for HOT-D and I never thought I would be able to gather strength to watch it. After 3 days I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did it. The show has most of the elements of GOT like A dynasty on brink of imminent destruction, Allies that wait for their chance to get closer to throne, Complicated families and relations, Basically every character that was introduced seems to have an ambition of their own. Cinematography is top notch but the visual effects seems to be off in certain scenes. Rest the Action, goriness, nudity and enigmatic characters won't disappoint you. Please just don't ruin this one for me. I want to it to be even better than the best Prequel ever made Better call Saul.

You ought to taste it!!
20 August 2022
I must say I never expected it to be so good. James Gunn just nailed it and gave DC something to flaunt about. Deadpool, The Boys, Invincible and Now Peacemaker is the latest Gem to R Rated Supes And these four combined are better than rest of the Marvel or DC projects featured before. John Cena exceeded the expectations and gave a stellar performance with the rest of the cast doing full on justice to portray what they were shouldered with. Story goes on a good pace integrated with humour that most of the times lands safely. Special mention for Vigilante who was my personal favourite character and was a delight to watch.

Either I am growing older Or MCU is becoming more Childish
7 July 2022
It's surely a disappointing one from Marvel, After a disastrous Ms Marvel show i expected something concrete from Marvel. The Movie is full of comic punches even at the more intense scenes. Christian Bale did a fantastic job at God Butcher but there is just not enough of him for my appetite. Gorr fails to represent himself a Threat at any level to Thor or any other god because we don't get to see the depth of character. The movie feels to be very rushed, it was like watching 4 mini episodes of a single series. The climax was just way more obvious. The Only saving grace I think was of Mighty Thor Arc which was executed beautifully otherwise it was all just a filler for phase five MCU.

Watch it once for the sake of continuation if you are an MCU follower rest you can easily skip it. Honestly if it was not a part of a franchise, it's totally not worth going to theatre.

Better than herogasm?
3 July 2022
Butcher vs Homelander was surely the fight of century in Herogasm but if u keep that aside, this was the best episode of the season so far as it gave way more depth to the main characters, explored their character traits and also providing insight in where they might be headed in future. The Boys just keeps getting better there's no doubt in it.

What did I just watch??
24 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is surreal. It looked like a season finale you know when all main characters get together for personal agendas and a final showdown between heros n villains but I get out of the screen and realise there's two more left? It's the first time homelander has been bruised physically, I can't imagine how he's gonna wreak Havoc when he's got a deep punch in his ego of being invincible and tarnished public image. Gonna be a week full of anxiety for me until the next Friday.

Ms. Marvel (2022)

This can be 'Marvellous' if set right
8 June 2022
I saw the trailer and I was in an impression of it being another teen show mixed with marvel vibes so I didn't go in with much expectations and that might just be the reason that it worked.

Kamala Khan makes her entry in MCU with much of a show with flying scarf. The show till now seems to be mainly focused on her struggles being a Muslim Teen superhero in a conservative family and I must appreciate the actors were casted with perfection playing the role with their heart in it. The cinematography is beautiful and Hindi music sets the vibe for Kamala Khan.

Ms Marvel's powers shown seems to be very similar with that of Green Lantern in DC but it's yet to see how they explore her in future episodes.

Edit : Decreased my rating from 7 to 4 stars after 'surviving' through complete season. Skip this one, it's so cringy and illogical and random.

The Batman (2022)
6/10
Clearly Overrated
23 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This comes from a Batman fan over all the other superheroes combined from DC or Marvel. Matt Reeves fails to carry forward the legacy of Dark Knight trilogy(as the Last stand alone Batman films) Let me point out a few major areas where the movie falls behind.

1.) The Gotham Politics and Corruption was stated so beautifully in Dark Knight parallel with the storyline of joker that it all makes sense whereas Reeves over exploited it by involving all Crime families of Gotham without nourishing characters with impactful scenes.

2.) The Villain, Riddler was a nice set up there's no doubt, the riddles the murders the motive it was all good and commendable but I think they should have kept his identity an enigma or maybe even Batman kill Riddler(maybe accidentally)could have been even better as he didn't have much part in later movie section after he revealed his identity and that would have left more impact. I know the 'Batman Doesn't Kill' morals but they showed the batman to be an immature superhero with just 2 year superhero life span so it could have been interwoven later in character development and No Kill morals later on in successive parts.

3.) The storyline and the Pace of the movie was ridiculously off setting. I do like watching long movies with proper character development and slowly progressive storyline into an intense showdown at the end but it was missing in batman. They could have easily trimmed the movie half hour without offending directors vision for the movie because there was little to the motive of many sequences shown and they were simply not integral with storyline and could have been trimmed off.

The Good : A vulnerable Batman was a delight to watch with all the fist fight and less of gadget showoff, it was just commendable how the hero was projected to be 'one of us'. Reeves really cracked the shell for batman for upcoming sequels showing how he makes mistakes and learn from them it was something never shown before on big screen. And the Catwoman ofcourse was a treat to the eyes with a backup story and character development.

A Thursday (2022)
5/10
Tries to sell lazy writing and cheap direction in the name of 'CAUSE'
21 February 2022
I was excited to see the movie because they made an attractive trailer which puts a curiosity in the mind of viewers, so I guess full marks for the trailer editing atleast. But what it does is that it raises the level of expectations for the film and its kind of frustrating when u give your time but the movie fails to deliver.

A Thursday had a decent acting arsenal to lead in the form of Yami Gautam, Atul Kulkarni, Dimple Kapadia (Not Neha Dhupia) and a good premise with Strong Cause to shout out to the World.

But the writers were lazy to stage the events along with poor dialogues and less interesting conversations between characters. Direction failed miserably to show the intensity of moment and progress the film at regular pace. The mystery however was kept well hidden until last but tolerance threshold was broken till then so it wasn't worth it.

I have lost the very little faith I had in Hotstar Movies ( the big bull, Laxmii, Sadak 2, Bhuj), It's high time they start hiring people who know their content Like Amazon has cracked the formula for Content and Demand Among Indian (Jai Bhim, Shershah, Sardar Udham)

Make some noise for the Rocket Boys
6 February 2022
Boy o boy...What a brilliant piece of art this series is!!!! A true homage to the Indian legends who selflessly shaped our country's bright future for what it is today. Due credit to the writers for making this 'know your heroes' series most entertaining to watch. Fantastic performance from all the actors involved including the phenomenal acting by Jim Sarbh in leading role, it would be unfair for other actors to say that he stole every scene that he was in but Damn he NAILED IT!!

The dialogues had wits where needed with engaging story and direction was top notch by Abhay Pannu. Cinematography was also good.

More like this one Please?

What If...? (2021– )

Rated the first one with 6stars, increasing 1 star after each episode
11 August 2021
A very straight forward episode of rushing things to set those pieces right into the puzzle. And my facial expressions were also pretty straight watching this episode as there was no thrill or even a logical storytelling, I understand it's an aminated show targetted at children maybe? But only those children who are familiar with all the MCU till now might perhaps be able to enjoy it.

Let's see how the rest of the episodes turn out but I am certainly not very excited about them after this one.

Edit : 2nd episode gave the actual feel of what MCU is about, it was creative and thoughtful with major WHAT IF moments. I thoroughly enjoyed watching T'challa back on screen.

However the 3rd episode was deal breaker and made me edit this review. It was so thrilling and exciting to watch, I could have watched a whole movie on this episode. It re explored the characters we know to a level that leaves u wanting for more.

I hope I get to a 10 star edit by the end of the season.

Edit II : Here goes my one more star for a 'strange' yet thought provoking episode which was by far the best among all in terms of writing, voice over, animation and storyline. Special mention for Benedict Cumberbatch for nailing the voice over like a boss. Take a bow Marvel for making this one.

However, coming to 5th episode, the episode was entertaining for sure, it was humorous and engaging with quality animation but again showed too much simultaneously not giving viewers enough time to absorb things.

Still a 9/10 overall for the series until next two episodes atleast. They gotta beat the episode 4 to get a 10 from me.

Average finale of an amazing series
5 March 2021
Well this one was hard on fans, so much expectations, so many theories and anticipation but at the end it was just a straight line. I think Episode 9 still remains the best one among all and the finale was just a filler for future MCU if you compare the two. Anyways it has been an amazing start to MCU TV, looking forward for more epic ones. Cheers!

Shameful blunder of a series
26 February 2021
10 minutes into the show and I could see the poor quality of acting and direction, I went in for another 15 minutes hoping to be wrong and witness an epic war drama but as it happens to be I am wrong. It's not poor, it's The Worst there can be and not just limited to acting or direction it's also dialogues, sets, action sequences, cinematography, you just name it. There is literally nothing good about the series to drag myself to watch another episode let alone be 9 more. A huge disappointment to witness such a blunder series made on a great war story in the history of India and the sacrifices of the brave soldiers.

Kirti Kulhari deserves special applause for her captivating performance
29 December 2020
Everyone going gaga over P.T. but I think that the most charismatic performance was of Kirti Kulhari who captured every emotion just perfectly, I know She's been crying in most of the scenes but the little details of acting and the change of facial expressions was done superbly by Kulhari who just stole the show from beginning until end. All other actors have also done a decent job at portraying characters given to them. Direction is done perfectly, Story is just average but what let down the show is it's slow pace, it could have easily been 2 episodes shorter with the climax being not so surprising.

Would have been better if it avoided unnecessary propaganda
20 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I won't say it's well written but the outstanding cast with interesting characters and the average storyline keeps it going. Although one can clearly see a seperate propaganda about Hindu-Muslim and religion conversion which was totally unnecessary and forcefully imposed over the storyline. The audience nowadays is too clever to look behind the dirty curtains so stop spreading your propaganda and don't take them for a fool and do what's your job that is 'entertainment'. Anyways You already killed more than half the cast so better hire some good writers for season 2.
